I seriously think Apple should have had a color corresponding to the Carriers color as a limited edition for the carrier..... If that was the case there'll be 4 new colors

T-Mobile
Sprint
AT&T
Verizon

That would be interesting but still looking forward to this 2

where is the age of innovation? or at least a 4.5" or 5" screen. I got two hands. why limit to only one?

here we are like a bunch of kids. I want black. No, I want gold. Nope, white is better. or we can go to the mall and have a full selection of colors for everyone, like Nokia bar phone in the old days.

that is why Apple stock has been down, stagnate of innovation. Apple needs to drop the slow 2-year period to get a real upgrade.

I think they're only going to do 2 colors for the 5S, 'Black and Graphite' and 'White and Gold'. This way they'll assure consumers that if they get the 5S, people will know that you got a 5S and not a 5. Yes, it's somewhat silly, but it was a major complaint in the 3GS and the 4S, so they're kind of fixing that with new colors on the 5S. I don't think they'll do all 4 colors on the 5S, as they'll want to keep the color variety for the iPhone 5C.

And the iPhone 5C will probably be a re-packaged iPhone 5 in new plastic colors.

Incredibly boring news! Subtle color options that will be covered by expensive cases to protect them! Apple better offer more than this but whatever. Ill be waiting for the 6 regardless. Ios7 is all I care about.

It looks like the innovation for the two new iPhones is different colors and plastic.

I don't mind them making a champagne color, but what bugs me is how bad it makes the white and black (or graphite) look when it's in the same product shot with them. White and black look great together, putting the champagne color adjacent to them ruins it, IMO.

Increasing the screen size is innovation? LoL kiddo, there are tradeoffs if the resolution increased especially the apps that will not be optimized by it and developers who will consider another different resolution.

I am impressed that I actually think the "Gold" iPhone will be a classy look for the phone. Sadly, I really do see it falling into a more feminine demographic.

The graphite phone on the other hand seems to be the best of both worlds. Love that the edges are already silver...that solves scuffgate...and how the grey has a nice contrast to the black glass pieces that frame the top and bottom.

If this video showed me anything to be excited about that wasn't just about the color of the phone it is the potential for a slightly larger battery. We all know how valuable those extra hours/minutes can be!

I think I should see myself with one of those in the near future. :apple:

That's what I think. If the graphite replaces the slate, it will probably be a direct result of the scratch issues some people had with the black/slate. Like you said, changing to black/graphite & white/gold would be an effective way to visually differentiate the 5S from the 5.

I want to make an ad for Apple of droid running on large 60-80" flat panel samsung displays on hip holsters to mock the oversized phoblets. And have some mom trying to be cool with a "peanut butter jelly time" ring tone go off while in line at a grocery store and her 70" phone tv is ringing and she try's to answer it and she falls over because it's so big and cumbersome. I don't ever want a huge screen on my phone. People who think they need two hands to use a 6" phone need to have more to do in life. I want my smartphone to be a quick go to one handed device to catch up on mail or take a call or use as a nav unit in the rental car whole traveling for work and let my tablet should I want it be in my briefcase for more formal two handed usage on the go.

Does anyone know whether there are plans for NFC? I can't seem to find any rumors about this, beyond old patents. I know it doesn't make that much of a difference in the US (yet). but this would make the passport application more useful and would be great for those of us living in Japan, where NFC is everywhere!

SHUT UP ABOUT INNOVATION!!!
Apple changing color options has nothing to do with innovation, it's called design.

Apple won't "innovate" with the iPhone again, as it is already an innovation (read on....) and all they can do to it is add features and increase screen size which are NOT innovations.

The next innovation apple will have is an entire new product..

I get the distinct impression from all these leaks that these are sanctioned controlled leaks by Apple. Note that all the leaks show only superficial changes - like colors or a oval shape for the new dual-LED. Yet, there hasn't been a single leak of the front and the rumored fingerprint sensor. Nor any of the internal parts which would serve as a "smoking gun".

If Apple really wanted to keep the fingerprint sensor under wraps, a good way to do it would be to distract the public and the media with controlled releases of things that don't really matter to Apple if they got leaked. Let's face it, none of what we're seeing is much of a surprise to anyone who follows Apple rumors.

Neither is the fingerprint sensor, but the implementation of it is probably something they want kept a complete secret. If these guys are getting leaked parts like cases, why couldn't they get the other parts as well? Thousands if not millions of complete phones must be built by now so you KNOW they exist.

It's strange that they will start to offer so many color options. It will be harder for them to estimate the demand for certain colors, and control production capacity for those. I guess after a while they get some data on how the colors are selling, but it still seems strange that Apple would go for this. They are always about simplicity.

I don't think they're going with the NFC route. It's just not that common in the US. I think Apple's own implementation will involve the usage of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and what they briefly revealed at WWDC - iBeacon. Do a Google search on it and I think you'll find it interesting. Possibly the most interesting thing that will come on Sept 10.

They've offered multiple colors before with the plastic iMac, the iPod Mini, and currently, the iPod Touch. I'd say they have a pretty good idea of what % of colors to produce.

They seriously need to make the back all one color. Maybe with the iPhone 6.

I really do like the iPhone 5 design, but the differentiation of colours on the back is something I have not been a big fan of. It doesn't look to bad but IMO could look lot better unified colour.

I think we are going to see some interesting new design on iPhone 6. And a larger screen could very well be possible. By the way, I am very comfortable with the actual screen size but why not a bigger screen for many people who love iPhone but prefer a slightly bigger screen?

can't innovate my a$$!

look they added a new color guys!

and a dual LED - i mean iLED

How can you make comment like that when you know ******* all about the iPhone S, except the shell? And even that is not guarantee! Why don't you reserve your comment for when you see the real thing?

Gonna call it now - they're only gonna do 2 colors for the 5S, white and black. White will have the champagne colored metal while black will be the graphite.

I think you are right. And I think it would be a great idea. Have we seen a silver or slate back with the pill shaped flash?

Apple knows how I much i love their products. I am getting old and my eyesight is failing me. I would really love to see an iPhone with a slightly larger screen. Please apple please. Then again, I am excited that the 5S is coming out soon. iOS 7 looks promising too, love the newly designed icons and features.
