I have a 44mm Series 4, but since the battery health is still top notch and the upcoming WatchOS still supports this model, I just might keep it another year. I’d like a bigger screen, though, so either a 45mm Series 9 or 49mm Ultra 2 could interest me. I’ve been eying those larger sizes ever since they launched, but this Series 4 Watch just keeps on ticking. Wow me, Apple (in your own Apple way). You just may just get my money.

I've had my Series 7 since a few months after launch. I plan to keep it for as long as I can (either until it breaks or stops getting updates).

Have a 7 since my 6 died from water damage from inherently bad seals just after the warranty/covered period from that issue ended. Will wear this as I intended for that: too many scratches to read, battery problems, and/or some catastrophic failure like on my 6…hopefully longer out than that one.

I thought I was going to be the most obsolete in this thread, but I see someone else beat me to it.

I have an S3 that was handed down to me by my daughter. As long as it is charged every night it works great. As much as I love Apple products, I’m just not into watches so I’ll use this until it dies.

I got a Series 3 Cellular dirt cheap back in 2018 and intend to at least entertain getting a Series 9. Given that the Series 10 could be a real step forward, I’m also
giving myself the out of putting it off until 2024. I’m still on the fence about getting a new iPhone as Safari does not run that great on my iPhone XR anymore. Of course with 98 tabs open, I’m not sure I’m being fair about it.

A lot depends on what the 9 offers. I have a 6 currently, and it works fine for me. If they happen to add cellular band 71 to the watch, I"ll buy it immediately. If not, I'll probably hold off for another year. But if they offer some really nice feature, I'd be tempted to upgrade.

I have the S7, SBTi model from launch day; so that works out to be 22 months since I’ve owned it. It just got replaced to a refurbished set by Apple so the battery is 100%.

I’m thinking of keeping it for another two years or until next year when Apple decides to overhaul the design entirely, or at least that’s what the rumour mill say.

However if I decide to upgrade to the 15 Pro, I might just grab the S9 as well. So long story shortened: I don’t know if I’m keeping my S7 until next year.

I've got an SS S7 but the battery has never been great on it. I'm planning to pick up an Ultra 2 for day-to-day and keep the S7 for fancier occasions.

S7 I bought when the S8 was released because S7s were immediately discounted by resellers. No plans to upgrade until new health monitoring features arrive, or current one breaks

I will most likely keep my ultra for another 2 years. It does everything I need!

Running a Series 6 and will continue to do so until a significant new feature comes out - at the moment there's no new functionality in the later versions and the battery is still working fine. I'd expect to be on it for at least 4 years, probably 5

Being on an Ultra - one more year most likely.

I already predicted the black coated Ultra when the original was announced last year, as it was an obvious way to get the early adopters to buy again one year later, and to rebuy a bunch of bands with dark band connectors. I'm prepared for the marketing video where they make the Powder Coated Midnight Titanium Ultra look like the coolest watch ever made.

The only thing that might convince me to upgrade is if they have some kind of new health sensor, like blood pressure or blood glucose, but I doubt that is coming this year. Otherwise the Ultra does everything I want in an Apple watch, other than having more than the one digital watch face option that we got 10 years ago, but that is all software...

The raise to wake feature doesn't work 80% of the time, which is why I have to tap on the screen. It's frustrating.
Are you sure you have the watch configured to the wrist you are wearing it on (right or left)? Either that, or your accelerometer must be busted. I've used an AW since the initial launch and raise to wake has been solid since day 1...just trying it on my ultra and it wakes even if I slightly turn my wrist towards my face, without any vertical motion (While on a desk surface.)

Yes, I'm 100% sure.

My Series 5 battery is still going strong enough, lasting the day with typically a one hour workout thrown in there. While the larger screen and added sensors would be nice, the core functions of alarm clock, Mac login, payments in stores and workouts aren't really in need of updating.

What I would appreciate is a thinner form factor, as getting it out from under a winter coat sleeve is a battle every time.

I use Series 4 and I am very happy with it and have no plans to replace it at this point. It is Stainless Steel silver model, so last year I decided to do Apple Battery service for the 1/10th of the cost of a new watch. A new SS AW would cost me over $800 (after taxes) so compare that to a battery service for $80, it was no brainer and I essentially got a brand new Apple Watch. My current battery health is 94%, so it should be 2+ more years before it drops under 80%. I will then re-eveluate if I want to do another battery service or if at that point Apple drops the support, I will consider a replacement or really push it till it actually dies. At this point, I hope to keep it and not bother with new AW for another 2+ years.

I have an Epix 2 and I will keep it until the battery life goes bad (it's still 11 days) or there's some amazing new Garmin with extra functionality I really want, but this is unlikely. I guess constant unobtrusive ECG, so really unlikely.

First AW I had was the Aluminium S2, went onto an Nike S4 when that came out and then stuck with that until last year when the S8 came out (S4 was still running strong though)

I went with the Gold SS S8 after thinking its something I wear every day and will probably keep for a minimum 2/3 years so its worth the extra money, love it! Always get comments on how shiny it is

Went almost 8 years on an original AW until the battery expanded and the Watch croaked. Bought a 41 MM series 8 GPS. Used it when I could but the wife kept swiping it. Found a 44 MM series 6 cellular in a thrift store with no charge in the battery and no charger in the thrift store, paid $20.00 for it. Took it home put it on the charger and it worked. So let wife permanently wife keep my series 8. Was in the mall one day last month and just for fun walked into the Apple Store a hour later walked out of the Apple Store with a 45 MM series 8 GPS

So what I have I fully intend to keep for a long time. I don’t need a cellular model as I have my phone with me all the time. I also found when I was in the Apple Store that the ultra was too large and clunky for my taste. I was fully aware the series 9 were coming but if anything I suspect it will not be much different then he current model series 8.

I have a launch-day Series 8 and I think I will replace it with a Watch with a new health sensor such as blood pressure or glucose. I believe Series X or 11 will come with blood pressure monitoring and by 2027 we see blood glucose monitoring.

Since I just update a month old thread about this:

Ti AW6, just got a new one today after sending my launch day in for battery replacement, so I’ll reckon 3 years before I upgrade unless I break my AW6.
