I challenge you to do a better shop job than that.
Don't be surprised when you read next week that Bill died of some mysterious internal injuries or unidentifiable poison...ninja-style. (just kidding, Bill! But seriously, watch your back).
This is a really weak rumor.
He might have said exactly the same thing if he didn't have any inside knowledge of an Apple tablet -- because of all the Apple tablet rumors.
The point of his speach is that they need to figure out how they are doing to deal with digital distribution, whatever forms it may take.
How about:
iTapplet
How's that for the worst name of the year?

It is the clear winner.
I kinda hope so, if you're meaning a stylus. I find that some people write faster than they type. Plus, with drawing programs, a stylus would be much easier to use than your fingers, IMO. Fingers are too clumsy; they're not precise enough. I'm sure some people will say "Why would you want to draw on a tablet anyways? Use a desktop!" Well, some people may prefer a tablet to a desktop.
"Impending" could be anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 months. And "slate" ?
That's a magazine isn't it?
I think it should be called after it's predecessor. The Newton II.
You guys are morons. A "Slate" is just a tablet pc that doesn't have a keyboard, it's screen only. It's not a name, it's referring to the form factor, which we already assumbed to be a slate.
I don't mean to douse water on this flame, but I work with a lot of publishers, and they are all very scared of the Apple tablet. They're scared that this mystery device will come along and blindside them like it did with the music industry. But in reality, they have no idea... they're just scared... nobody has any concrete details. And they're all trying to position their businesses to be able to distribute to new devices, including the tablet they don't know exists...
so... maybe this guy has details that nobody else has, but I think he's just like all the other publishers... that they assume an apple tablet is imminent... and that it is going to shake up the publishing industry
"Slate" doesn't sound very Apple-like. Maybe this editor doesn't have much personal interest in tech and said the word "slate" when he meant to say "tablet." Slate is probably his version of "whatchamacallit."

I believe that would be your iFinger.
If you don't want an ARM CPU, buy a MacBook Air.
I think 'II' is a sequel better left on titles like "Home Alone" and "Weekend at Bernies."
