i'm not sure whether to upgrade online or not. will i be able to walk into an o2 store on friday and upgrade there. what puts me off is o2 saying they will try and ship as many iphones to arrive on the 11th but they might arrive up to 2 weeks after that.

That is definitely swaying me towards queueing. As is this awful, awful site.

it says that it may take up to 2 weeks to arrive. i know o2 are covering their backs but i want my new phone on the friday, i'm off work so i don't mind a little queuing.

Online upgrade wont work, filled the upgrade form, but nothing happens when I press send! Been trying for over 1/2 hour.

Got half-way through and...bad request. Eurgh.

Just spoke to my local store (so take this with a large pinch of salt) but they're saying that current iPhone customers will not be able to collect phones from stores on launch day. The guy advised me to A) keep trying the website and B) get on the phone to customer services and be charming.

EDIT: Bad request, again. Damn you, O2.

I believe you won't be able to get them in an O2 store otherwise I'd be down there at 7am on Friday.

Mind you, if this keeps up they may change their mind!

Although vodafone NZ have not announced Data monthly pricing plans (tomorrow morning 10am, NZ time apparently) they have announced the price of the 8Gig phone at $199NZ. Sounds good doesn't it, well that equates to $150US, which is CHEAP.

We are expecting to be financially raped when vodafone announce 24 month monthly pricing data plan, watch this space I guess.

Vodafone NZ are warning customers that stocks are low as well, time will tell if this is going to be the case.

Al that said I will happily post pictures of me and my new iPhone once I have it in my grubby paw........ providing of course that I can afford to be locked into a hefty 24 monthly data plan......hmmmmmmmm

I'm not convinced O2 are really giving existing users a good deal.

We pay £x amount a month already, and if like me you got the old one on release, the total amount you've paid is considerable already, then O2 give us absolutely no benefits to being an existing iphone customer that wants to upgrade...

Sounds unacceptable to me.

Incidentally, what do they propose is going to happen to prices after the 11th of October?

Seriously unimpressed...UK peeps should do as the swedish did and petition!

You know what, I wouldn't be surprised. I just spoke to a very nice person in CS who confirmed what the store had told me. Her only advice? We're really sorry, we know there's a problem, but just keep trying.

Good job I'm not working this week, eh? ;)

EDIT: Situation change. Yay. Note this page is 'maintenance.html', and displaying by default.

EDIT: The main store's down as well by the looks of things. They might actually be doing something about the problem :O

o2 shop is now down for maintenance

The title says it all - 1.5 hours in and trying and now i can't get through...customer service won't take orders...

Several people are unhappy over O2's handling of the PAYG version: their web site still implies we will get some news early in July but things are looking rather bleak now....

Take a look at O2's PAYG Forum

This is god awful!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got the TXT at 8:30, got to the site and it's crazily overloaded.

I have had 7 Upgrade Codes and 3 near successful sign ups!! It keeps on saying 'Bad Request' or 'Bad Browser Request' just as I get near the end.:confused::mad::(

02.... You are a bunch of MOTHERTRUCKERS

UPDATE:
The site is now officially down - 'Our Upgrade Online Shop is Currently Unavailable'

'For now, take a look at our iPhone tariffs'

I swear to god, if i don't get my phone on friday i'm going to sue O2's ass big time! I've been trying since 8 and got to the final stage and say's 'BAD REQUEST' - sort it out O2!!!!

I've been through 10 upgrade codes and nothing!

Has anybody tried adding an accessory to the package (i.e. a dock?)!

They (O2) are allowing current customers to end their 18 month contract early. This is a significant benefit, saving me around £280.

I'm very happy with O2, or was until their order system broke... :D

Yep agreed, I got virtually to the same point, of actually selecting the phone, and then it hit me with the bad request!

Did they expect that everyone would go on at different times, get some more bandwidth and a better site handler!!!!!

That should be a fun one to watch. What grounds will you be suing them on?

Maybe if they fail to let you successfully upgrade before their 11th October deadline then you may have something to complain about but insufficient resources to process the requests in the first 2 hours is not a reason for complaint.

oh dear oh dear oh dear 02 your web site died under the pressure of everyone trying to order at once. I know this would happend and so did 02 but do they care

NO

Why because its not like you can goto vodafone and purchase an iphone. They know you will just have to come back later.

O2 are .... (the missing word rhymes with hunts)

Good to have registered early

I was one of them who received this e-mail cant wait for the pricing tomorrow at 10am. If it is manageable (I would gladly swap my monthly broadband quota with a combined phone credit and 3G internet) as I use the internet mostly for e-mail and videos.

I don't care about SMS, why would i need it if I can send e-mail or access a web based SMS provider :D right?

Happy to be in NZ, first in the world :D

LOL, maybe one of these will do instead!

Wow, the lack of PAYG information is bringing out the ungratefulness in people.

They are a business, and finalizing pay as you go plans are likely not priority because contract plans will have a higher return, but I really don't understand some of these quotes from people regarding O2:

"I am truly outraged at 02 this morning, leaving it till now to tell me I can get the iPhone on Friday..."

"So 02 have officially confirmed on their website that iPhone 3G for pay and go will be coming 'later in the year'.. Raging. how could they do this to us"

"outrageous treatment and total contempt for customers."
