Yeah i'm already starting to lose patience with this wait game here, that I might consider just getting the G1.
same here as well....

><"....I got the email notification on 2:27pm which I did not realize....HOWEVER...I called newegg to see whether it has in stock at around 2:50pm and they said they still do not have it.
Now...the ETA has changed to 09/02 and $20 more?....what's going on?
So the entire stock was all gone within 20mins?![]()
yea I was checking every day for the past week as well. Checked this morning, still said 8/28 ETA. Then around 2pm I got an auto notify email saying they were in stock, so I quickly placed my order and then posted on here. Guess they sold out shortly after.I think you all should wait. Out of nowhere newegg.com had them. I put a link on my bookmarks bar and I clicked often. It was up and down in a matter of hours so you have to be quick.

I wonder if they actually sold out in 20 minutes today or if they still haven't got them in yet.

Put you email in the auto notify feature on newegg. Thats what I did, and i got an email as soon as it became available. So you got the 80GB today??...arrrhhh...I know I should check the site every MINUTE today...lool
On really? Wow! Once it was on sale and my friend got one (the only reason I was looking) I stopped checking every hour on the hour.yea I was checking every day for the past week as well. Got my G2 160GB today too but I'm waiting for Snow Leopard tomorrow to install both together![]()
Me too...it's just painful to keep waiting...for a drive that has already been 'released' (yea..I know there was a recall) for couple weeks.
I might get the G1 instead...I mean its $20 less plus free shipping.
However, I dunno, I am not usually a person who will get the 'last gen' (well..to be fair...it's still pretty cutting edge) thing especially I can get the Gen2 (given IF it is in stock)
I wonder whether there is really a significant increase in performance given is lesser latency and 34nm manufacturing process. Performance aside, the thing that bug me most of G1 is the lack of TRIM support.
Can someone please comment on whether TRIM support really a big deal?
I know OSX cant use TRIM anyway...what about Win7..is it native in Win7 system already without using external TRIM software? (sry if it is 'inappropriate to say 'Win7' here...lol)
I called Newegg again...and according to their exact words, they had it in stock for 'some time', but the entire stock was gone 'in a buff'...i am guessing he means 20 minutes..
So you got the 80GB today??...arrrhhh...I know I should check the site every MINUTE today...lool
Got mine today too. Had to take off the silly plastic spacer. Looks like it'll fit but just a wee bit too big. Bad thing is they don't send smaller screws & the stock ones bottom out.
It freakin' FLYS. I'm so glad I bought the 2.26 13" and upgraded my own RAM and put in the Intel SSD.
I'm wondering if they are only getting a few drives or what the deal is. I told them the auto e-mail notify is useless since you have to literally order it like right away. Looks like a lot of people have a hard on for these drives.
The other thing is, is there only like 3 places to get these things? newegg, buy.com, amazon, mwave?
I might just have to wait and save more bucks and go with the 160GB.
In my opinion you really shouldn't buy a SSD for maximum storage space, you are wasting money if you want a 320GB SSD just to store lots of movies and MP3's. I do audio software programming and legitimately need the faster speeds for programming and compiling software. So for the people only interested in a large 320GB drive, I want to ask what your motive is for spending that kind of money on that big of an SSD?

You are right that cost-space correlation of SSD is horrible and it just doesn't make sense (unless you are loads of money to spend) to use it as a storage drive (the speed of loading a movie wouldn't be much faster that loading it from a external FW800 anyway). The real shine of SSD should be on the OS and application level.
I think the problem is with laptop you can only have one bay (Yeah..Optibay do work but some ppl like me still use most popular storage media -CD) and some like me just hate to bring an external along even if it is only 2.5". 160GB is REQUIRED if you want to install bootcamp (windows) since 80GB is definitely insufficient.
I am one who is still debating whether I should get the 160 or 80. 160 is just too expansive. I can almost purchase two 80 for the price of one 160 and put one 80 in my desktop. But yet, 160Gb seems more practical or 'future-proof' in terms of as I continue to build my iPhoto/iTunes library.![]()
Intel X-25M ordered here (310 euro) and my Macbook Pro 13", can't wait. These things are selling like crazy. I got acces to wholesale site in Belgium and there were 500 available last night, now I check and there's like 100 left
.
