Surprised at how few people find this creepy. Sooner rather than later you'll be able to point your phone at someone and learn a lot more about them than their height, without our consent being considered in the slightest.
This one isn't all that creepy. It isn't accessing any personal data on the internet. It's just a measurement. I can tell how tall you are within an inch or two just by looking at you anyway.

I live in Europe. We are very decimal here.
Even feet and inches can be decimal. Not as common but it does give the benefits of no fractions with the familiarity (if you are in the United States) of feet and inches. Various engineering fields use decimal imperial units. I’m not saying it is the best way but it does have its place.

Is this site changing names to iPhoneTips.com? /s I do enjoy these little tidbits. I think the measure app is one of those things I'd use more often if I thought about it at various times.

Actually, NASA did use SI-Units for the moon landing. E.g. the lunar module's computer calculated in SI (but showed readings in imperial units for the benefit of familarity for the astronauts who were all trained pilots)
Still depressing that unit conversion can lead to bad outcomes. I'm a physicist so used to both systems. And old so I remember Carter trying to get Americans to change.

Now I just base everything on quatloos.

So do I and I was just starting to work and hoped I wouldn't have to learn two systems. No such luck. What temperature does Al melt, Ti, etc.

iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max, iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, and iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models feature a LiDAR Scanner next to the rear camera that can be used to measure a person's height instantly in Apple's preinstalled Measure app.

iPhone-Measure-Height.jpeg

To measure a person's height, simply open the Measure app, point your iPhone at the person you want to measure, and make sure they are visible on the screen from head to toe. After a brief moment, a line should appear at the top of the person's head with their height measurement. You can choose to have the measurement displayed in feet-and-inches or in centimeters in the Settings app under Measure → Measure Units.

The app measures a person's height from the floor to the top of their head, hair, or hat. You can even measure the seated height of a person in a chair.

The circular shutter button in the bottom-right corner allows you to take a photo of the person with their height measurement and share it with them.

The feature is not available on iPhones without a LiDAR Scanner.

Haha. No. The phones have had LiDAR sensors for years. It’s definitely not ‘dead accurate’. Definitely don’t use it for precise measurements in any capacity.

It’s accurate enough to measure if a guy is 6’ tall.

Probably not accurate enough for d!ck measuring tho.

Here goes my dating life.. :(
Now I want it to be able to tell someone’s weight to be fair!

Why does a girls weight number matter? If she’s fat by inspection, then she’s fat. If she’s cute by inspection, then the weight number doesn’t matter.

For guys, it’s the looks that matters, not some psychological cutoff for status seeking.
