LOL, you'd be surprised how many men will buy it. I remember when the first white iPhone was released. Every news article, blogs and forums swore up and down that it would only appeal to women. I see more guys with white iPhones than I can begin to count on a daily basis. Myself included. :)

White/Silver is actually to most not considered feminine.

If you look at say Audi, they actually advertise most of their models in white/silver.

It's a very 'modern' color combo.

I think the plastic iPhone looks great and will feel nice. It's more Apple-like to me than the iPhone 5, as it's simple, made of one piece and texture, a bit "cute" and rounded. On the other hand, the iPhone 5 is so angular, is made of many different materials of various different textures, and now with the "champagne" color it's even less Apple-like and more like some vintage jewel box…

I have no idea what is wrong with Apple, making such an ugly champagne color, when they clearly still have a sense of style as demonstrated with the 5C. Yes no one has to buy that particular color, but it's more a matter of principle.

As noted in multiple descriptions of the "gold" iPhone, the color is closer to a light champagne than it is to a bright and garish gold.
"Light champagne" color is garish by definition.
Just imagine any Honda or Toyota car from 80's-90's in that color.

Oh really? See now that's a bit more reassuring. I don't keep up with every tech company's upcoming product lines to the minute because it always seems to be Apple that's targeted with leaks no matter where you surf. Unfortunately it's hard to avoid the news on MR. Even if I bookmark on the forums someone is likely to post the leaks there as if it's important for them to get the news out before MR's front page. :D

Not sure if you're serious but yes it does happen to others. The Nexus 7 HD recently, the Xbox One/PS4 releases have been crawling with leaks. See some examples here: http://www.engadget.com/tag/leak/

Admittedly Apple is probably the most leaked-from company due to their hype and high profile releases, but they live off this kind of thing as well. It's all free publicity.

But true, it's hard to avoid, if not on the internet then in real life, one of my colleagues today mentioned the champagne coloured iPhone too :)

I don't feel like they ruin too much though, it doesn't feel like Apple's keynotes have the same kind of buzz as they used to, but maybe it's just me.

Well, it definitely looks just like the iPhone 5 except for the dual LED flash visible on the champagne model.

Generally when Apple uses color, there is a palette at least that goes together, whether its the same saturation, or complementary colors, they feel like a they go together. When you look at the lineup of whats been leaked in terms of the 5C and 5S, its a mess. When you look at all of those phones together its all over the place. No cohesion.
I have to agree with you. Generally the colors as I see them are sharp and vivid and look phenomenal together. The iPod is beautiful in any color and as you say look great side by side.

In contrast the 5C backs that I've seen look washed out and...cheap. It may just be that the photos don't do it any justice, so I will reserve judgement until I see it in the store.

Warming

At first I didn't like the idea of a "Gold" iPhone. The first pictures seemed to show it being almost mustard colored. It was too much, too pushy, too obnoxious. Now it's more like brass. I like brass. I think I like the brass one more than either of the other two.

While I'm sure that some others won't share my sentiment I just feel that all these leaks take away from the excitement of the keynote. I've always looked forward to the keynotes and while leaks don't tell the whole story I just wish there weren't so many of them giving away the secrets. :(

lol I know what you mean, but to be fair, you are on a rumors sight and there is no escaping these leaks now. So I guess we will have to deal with it. :)

First people complained about Macrumors posting too much non-related Apple news, and now they are complaining about too much Apple news and rumors.

LOL, I was serious, looking back my post did seem like sarcasm. Sorry for that. I'm on CNET daily and almost always the news talks about leaks from Apple. I never see leaks from other company's tech products. It's usually the company that sends out information about when their product will be released.
In terms of the keynotes I liked it when we could watch it live online. :)

At what point does this stop being news as every leak is basically showing the same thing the previous leak showed?

Never. Because each repeat is viewed as more proof and even if it turns out that they are dead wrong, a la the teardrop phone, that they were wrong will be news. As will be attempts to claim that Apple was going to do it but production issues blah blah

Let's face it, Apple gets page hits. Every blog and their granny will post about Apple even if they have to shoehorn the name into something that has nothing to do with Apple. Like calling everything an iPhone/iPad/iTunes/iCloud killer

How anybody can possibly say that the gold iPhone looks gaudy and tacky is beyond me!

This is sad.

I think Apple is furious. I would be too.

Or not. This could all be false, like the teardrop model. Apple could be laughing their asses off at all of this. Could be it was a prototype that was rejected that leaked, could be it's just flat wrong. Heck maybe Apple is behind it getting out there. Maybe that photo really was from an employee, an Apple employee that created the profile etc. All to get the blogs chasing their tails and missing the real story.

Who knows at this point

That's just the back casing :/ I thought that was understood

Which proves nothing about the real iPhone given there are companies out there selling replacement parts for the iPhone and they easily could be making other colors.

This black plate could be from one of them and not from Apple. Or based on anything from Apple
