Next Apple TV's Chip Revealed in Latest Leak

I suspect Apple has already built in cost of A19 ( and its additional RAM memory ) in the previous price hike a couple months ago.
If there is an alternative A19 Pro version might be $399. ( $150 more the Ethernet model ) . If they think some value add home hub abilities would be a value proposition . As a pure streamer… can’t really justify the price. $249 to get to an Ethernet port is already high. Even higher would have to be a ‘more than a TV streamer’ box.
Pretty likely Apple didn’t put this into volume production when the ‘AI software ‘ wasn’t ready for prime time.
There probably were research A17 Pro R&D versions but that isn’t warehouse types of volumes.
The remotes on the current model are ABSOLUTE TRASH and I've had multiple fail just from daily use. The fact Apple has sat on this for so long is crazy
I knew it! In order for it to have all metal 4 features it needed at least a19. The base iPad will have a19 as well. Apple is gearing up to be serious about gaming

We currently have two AppleTVs in rotation: an HD (master bedroom) and a 4K (living room). Last Sept., we completed a renovation that now offers a new TV space. So obviously, we need a third ATV. At the time, I thought an update was days/weeks away, so we moved the master bedroom AppleTV HD to the new space as a stop-gap.
That was a year ago.
For the past year, we've been moving the 4K back and forth between the living room and master bedroom - which is straight up ridiculous. But there is zero chance I'm buying 4-yr old tech in another 4K. That's even more ridiculous. So here we are... any new ATV is an insta-buy for me. And as much as I would love to see it available tomorrow, I jus don't see them wanting anything taking any thunder from the foldable. But I fully welcome the ability to place an order as soon as tomorrow. Could be one of those unexpected early moments in the keynote, where they announce it then move on to Watch. I can't imagine anyone would be put off by that. 🤪

Hopefully if this is stuff showing up in a backend system somewhere then it's coming sooner rather than later.

Bit nervous about the term "next Apple TV". Is this the one that is coming any day now, or the next one (likely 2027)? It seems unlikely that Apple would have a load of A17Pro Apple TVs that they don't sell.
In terms of the chip, I'd say it would be an A19Pro - for a device that will operate by (and support other devices that operate by) voice control, I would have thought compatibility with Siri expressive voices would be a must, which needs more than 8 GB RAM.

All the remotes of the Apple TV's are rubbish. The latest one seems least worse IMO.
Even using an iPhone / iPad as remote is not the best experience.... hoping for an improvement with this model, as in: Apple, please do not be afraid to add a few buttons.
Thread/Matter support. That was segmented with last version. Probably a default now the N1 chip supports it natively . Better Bluetooth. Multiple Apple devices acting in concert, but generally more ‘Home Hub’ features.
Decent chance HDMI 2.2 support ( more 4K reframe rate dynamics ) although that might be segmented .( **)
AV1 hardware decode ( more efficient).
P.S. ** or a more complete HDMI 2.1 data rate that was optional . ( with 2.2 not necessarily the max rates but the leaving less otionsl 2.1 features out. ) . The 2.1 on current box is barest minimums to get to 2.1 status .

Remember a few years back, Gurman said a gaming focused Apple TV was coming? Were their small attempts to already making it a gaming platform already that gaming Apple TV, or could it be this?
Yes it's for New Siri but it's also soo overkill for the rest of the ATV, but if it added Shield TV like AI upscaling for older content that would be awesome too

Probably have one at current price with a19 and another at 399 with more ram a19 pro and controller and higher storage

I know the rumour says "no new design" but with the increase in RAM, this is going to have to be more expensive so they might as well bump up the enclosure material. Give it a Mac mini-like enclosure. Aluminum has better heat dissipation than plastic, and Apple is already making the remote out of aluminum on an accessory so it's already proven affordable enough.

A20 GPU is roughly 20 to 30 percent faster than A19 in many games and graphics and shows about 15 to 20 percent CPU gains. Tomorrow we will see the A21 which is expected to be another 10-20% jump in both GPU and CPU.
If Apple was serious about gaming, they would have released the new Apple TV in Q1 2027 with an A21 and market it as such, but that would be almost impossible.
If RAM was relatively cheap then A19 Pro might have a chance. The A19 Pro package is not only a bigger ( incrementally more costly ) chip the minimal RAM is higher which substantially increases costs even higher.
That addition RAM is not going to get the typical user better streaming at all .
The A19 already doubles the RAM in the system . NAND SSD storage is also higher now ( and if storing local LLM models need more than last version; 4-10GB range. Higher if multiple expertise being stored ) . I suspect Apple’s price increases are covering those. The A19 Pro would like push process even higher.
The a20 is not even out the a21 will not be released until next year
