Aluminum iPod!

I believe that the new iPod will have an aluminum shell and a wide glass screen much like the iPhone and new iMac. I also think that the future MacBooks will have aluminum shells and glass screens.

I have my doubts. The new 6G iPod will more likely have the same form factor as the current 5.5G iPod (to maintain compatibility with current iPod docks) but will sport a full-sized touchscreen and 60 or 100 GB hard drive storage.
 
I really think Apple is getting ready to phase out ALL plastics in their products. In recent months, Apple has made huge strides to make their products more environmentally friendly. As we all know, plastic is bad for the environment but glass and aluminum is HIGHLY recyclable and a lot better for the environment. That's why I think the new iPods and MacBooks will be aluminum.

It has to have a widescreen, everything else is not as important to me. My ipod was stolen a month ago now or so and i have been patiently waiting for a new one to come out.

I'm sure it is going to be great, just hate waiting. When do you figure we'll hear some news on the 6th gen iPod? Something to confirm what exactly it is going to look like.

creating products out of plastic and alu still takes masses of energy i honestly don't believe a company like apple will choice what they make their products out on the basis of how easy it is to recycle them in 8 years time.

The new iPod is due out in mid September.

I'm getting tired of waiting, I wish it would be the Paris Expo already! Waiting 2 years for an update hasn't been fun :(


Well, all i know is if the 6G iPod is a Phone-less iPhone with at least 60gb I'm buying it a.s.a.p.

More than likely, it will look like the iPodPhone without the phone. I'm hoping the clickwheel pops up as a opaque wheel to browse the UI... that would be sexy. I'm wishing for some kind of WiFi capability, but i think that's pushing it.
 
I would think it would have to have some sort of wifi implementation. Just on the fact that zune and some other players have it. Maybe not browsing or buying songs, but syncing or sharing (like they already do in iTunes) or something to, for lack of a better term, keep up with the competition, even though the iPod beats most anyway. It is getting so there are not many electronic things that do not have a wireless chip in them.

But maybe it is just wishful thinking on my part. I want full safari support!

In fact, the new "intermediate" iPod I suggested will look like a cross between the current nano with its metal case and a reduced-size 5.5G video iPod, with screen that is almost the same size as the 5.5G iPod but with a Click Wheel the size of the current nano. Because it will have either 8 or 16 GB of flash memory it will be only a little thicker than the current nano.

1. Why would it still have the click wheel when the interface on the iPhone is clearly superior?
2. Why the black plastic on the back? It's there for the cell antenna on the iPhone.

Every year, the new iPod is released when schools starts again, anywhere from late August to mid to late September. Expect there to be a new Keynote address from Steve Jobs in the next two to four weeks and get prepared for the NEW IPOD.

No. I'm guessing the iPhone style...all apple has to do is change the adapter for the universal dock...they already come with every new iPod...why not this one?

In that case...if you're looking for full safari support...i think you should just skip the new iPod and get an iPhone. I think the wifi or bluetooth would be awesome but i think bluetooth would be the more likely possibility because that would create wireless synchronizing. I would like that the most...keep the iPod connector though...for people without bluetooth and for playback purposes.:apple:

Well my my! You dont like the clickwheel?? :) Yeah..you're right, but im sure theres some peeps with really thick fingers out there that just adore the ease of the clickwheel.

Why the black plastic around the screen on the iMac? well contrast of course but why the back?

I just hope Apple adds in something that none of us are expecting to push the sixth generation over the top. Like wireless charging and syncing and some way to use it while driving. Maybe, when it goes into sleep mode with music playing, you tap the screen it will pause/play and a swipe to the left goes to the next song and a swipe to the right would go back a song. I'm not sure what to do about fast forward/rewind though. But that would sound like a great thing to put in to the interface. And to wake it up just press the sleep/wake button and it would unlock just like the iphone.

Are you serious? Wireless charging?

Wireless syncing is ridiculous too. Just update the interface and the body. That's all that's necessary. No wireless ********.

Yes, Apple will defy the laws of physics and properties of energy to transfer electricity wirelessly to the iPod, while keeping the relatively similar price brackets :p

Apple doesn't need to incorporate anything over the top to sell an iPod so it won't happen. As long as it works well, is moderately priced, and is different enough to merit an upgrade in people's minds then it will sell. Thus, don't be disappointed when the iPod is the amazing wonder device you're hoping for.

I just want the iPhone interface with the touch screen. That's it. No internet, phone, camera, wireless, anything. Just the iPod. Please Apple, make it happen!
