I think they should make the Nano something like this:

Keep the form factor, but remove unused space and put in a 320x240 display. When you want to watch videos you'd just rotate it 90 degrees.

Apple WILL NOT make the nano video compatible. Doing to would raise the price of the iPod and draw people away from the nano. The iPod nano is strictly a music player, nothing more and nothing less. The nano is a stripped down version of the iPod w/ video. Therefore it will only play music, now and in the future.

However, Apple likes pushing the limit so I wouldn't put it past them.

Why would it raise the price apple could add video support to it and not need to raise the price, they actually need video (and something else just for the nano) to compete with others coming into this market.

So a smaller version of the nano that will only play music.

and maybe the screen will be a little taller.

In his Keynote Address introducing the iPod nano, Steve Jobs said that the iPod nano is a "stripped down" version of the iPod with video, just like the Mac Mini is a stripped down version of the iMac. Believe it or not, some people don't want video capabilities on their iPods. That's why they buy the nano; they just want an iPod that plays music. Ergo, iPod nano.

Even though everyone is speculating that the new iPod with video will have widescreen glass display, we must prepare for the worst. What it Apple releases the same design but with larger hard drives? So until then, don't get your hopes up but one can dream. However, what ever the iPod looks like, I can guarantee that it will be revolutionary. After all, its Apple.

I think this would be a perfect iPod Nano without venturing too far from the current one. The shrunken iPod Video just looks terrible, however this looks natural.

So... if I were to order an iPod on the 16th (last day of Uni. deal), what are the odds of getting a next gen. iPod?

well, if they don't announce the new ipods by then, slim. if you are referring to the student discount on ipods, no chance. the rebates only apply to a limited number of ipods and they note this with product numbers on the rebate.

What's the return policy if i go buy a computer and get the nano on the last possible day, if they update it within 30 days is it reasonable to assume i could return it and pay the difference for a new one or if it's the same no extra money at all?
