iPod Next Gen iPod

I am going to say that, if it is a phoneless iPhone, I will buy it in a heartbeat. That'd be amazing!

I was about to order the 80GB iPod video, but I read that stores were getting fewer and fewer shipments of iPods, suggesting they were making room for new ones.
 
I want it to look like this, Im pretty sure everybody wants this:

Am I alone in thinking that the virtual scrollwheel is a pretty inelegant solution? Why have a giant touchscreen if you're only going to make a quarter of it do anything?
 
You are not alone. I don't see the point in having the scroll wheel. The iPhone touchscreen is so much better. And it's cooler. :cool:
 
Mark your calendar, the wait is almost over. The new iPod will be released on September/October 12, 2007.

The 6G iPod better not have a click wheel of any kind. Now that they have multi-touch or whatever I'd better be able to just touch my way through a much needed refresh of the iPod user interface. Apple can make it different from the iPhone and still give us some new cool technology.

Ain't nothing wrong with this mockup, in fact I kinda like it (and I am hard on mockup artists) just loose the ancient click wheel Apple.

prediction

Now that Apple has recently addressed the iMac and it's software, I think the next company announcement, likely in late September, will be iPod/iTunes centered. A few highlights I'm predicting:

New Wi-Fi iPod video with touchscreen (80GB and 160GB)
- will likely still use the aluminum/glass design but will look decidedly
different from the iPhone to avoid cannibalization
New iPod nano with video capability (8GB and 16GB)
- will not have glass screen--too heavy and fragile for gym use
iPod shuffle update
- increased storage, and a built in pedometer would be perfect!
New iTunes with HD video for sale and rent, and RINGTONES

If that is true, God help Apple's next few financial quarters... That is just horrible. If it is the new "Nano" there is nothing small about that and it will fail... if that's replacing the full size it is nothing more than a shortened 5th gen! Either way i see it as a huge failure... They are moving backwards in design, Creative could have made that!

I think they should make the Nano something like this:

Keep the form factor, but remove unused space and put in a 320x240 display. When you want to watch videos you'd just rotate it 90 degrees.
