We don't need smaller battery and lower performance just to shave off 0.01cm from the thickness of the 16 inch.

Go ahead and make the 14 inch smaller, lighter, and less powerful. If you're buying a 14 inch that is what you want. If you are buying a 16 inch give us all that is possible. Ive is gone, let's get rid of him for once and for all.

Mini-LED is back on the table? I thought that was rumored to be pushed back until next year with the new Pros getting LCD in 2021.
I think the only people saying that were a few posters here. I haven't read that anywhere else.

Why not? I think we all are hopeful that Apple would show off some hardware, but the last WWDC showed some demonstrations when they announced their Apple Silicone but it was months later for models being released. We still know hardly anything about any of their next updates to all their OS platforms. MBP announcements haven’t really followed any predictable schedule. We know they are coming, but all these rumors are really speculative, not like based from Apple leaks anymore. I guess one could say Apple really believes in good security. ;)
They are coming...for developers these are an eye candy and not just for WWDC but for the State of the union after that
Apple will not make another event in August and after one more in September for iphone and another for the bigger imac and mac mini and next m2 macbook air
The MBP are COMING, i know you dont want to , but be prepared to be disappointed
Even Apple is saying code for Macbook in their WWDC promo

Can apple chip macs run windows? I haven’t been following much with any updates on this. I need parallels for a few apps I use a lot on my machine.

I think I might be the only person who likes the touchbar and will be sad to see that go. It's not a dealbreaker though.
The fact that losing it is not a dealbreaker even for those that like it is telling. It's much like Force Touch. It was nifty and useful in certain isolated situations, but ultimately created too many compromises and the device is overall better off without it.

So they want the 16" to be lighter than the current one...hope they dont ignore the current magnificent M macs battery life
Even for macbook pro 16" an 15-16 hours of battery is a move forward
Battery life is a huge advantage for the system— hope they don’t ignore that.

There are no rumors of them using chiplets in MacBook pros.
It makes sense that they would want to get these into developers hands as soon as possible, that’s why it will be a late July release…

With the chip shortage during the pandemic? Nahh...I don't think the 1st batch will ship this soon...if the iPad Pro release is anything to go by, I will bet it will ship 2nd half of next month, so, 2nd half of July to early Aug.
Shipping Late July

Apple is extremely clever with their WWDC hints. Those images with laptops could be more about the entirety of this event being online. :D

We only have 5 days to this grand event.

They can run any ARM based OS, so they can run Windows ARM, but not any X86 OS.

Windows 10 ARM has an X86 translator similar to Rosetta 2 (but quite a bit slower right now).

Performance is still very good, I use W10 ARM in parallels on my M1 Pro for a few technical applications.

how expensive do you guys think it'll be to get the 14" macbook pro with 16gb ram, 512gb ssd, 10 (2 + 8) core CPU, 16 core GPU, with miniLED. i really hope that this new macbook pro gen just replaces the old gen with no price increase, but i'm gonna have to suspect that this one may come at a premium of a product that already costs at a premium. if i can get this laptop for under 2k after tax, that would be amazing
My guess would be $1899 or $1999. That would be a $200-$300 bump from the current M1 MBP 13” with the same configuration. Any lower and they would have to drop the price on their current 13” MBP for that to make any sense and I don’t see that happening.

I just hope they won't be too expensive (taking into consideration the usual macbook prices).
I'd love to stay around 3000$

That's a non-sequitur. But the reason they are doing it now is because developers will be excited by it, and the M2 chips are ready. Not a lot that developers have to do in order to optimize for these things.

Well, I wouldn't quite say that. I like it a lot, and I'm sad to see it go. It's not going to drive me to get a PC laptop, but there's not much that would either. I don't understand the hate for it.
