As much as I’m ready for the upgrade I’ve got a feeling our price is jumping like it did for the iPhone X. 14’’ Base - $1500 ???

I Don’t think that it will be any cheaper than $1799

Who knows…

Less Touch Bar and third party silicon = cheaper production costs… that is potentially one of the driving factors of the Touch Bar removal as let’s be honest, the high end MBP’s are quite a jump from the base level MBP (+$500).

I would not be surprised in the slightest if we see these come in a bit cheaper maybe -$100 each potentially.

That’s a price decrease, these refreshes are for the higher end models which currently start at $1799…

Can’t help but think there’s way too much certainty that there will be a new m chip coming. People said the same about the iMacs..
From what I understand, they didn't release an M1 16" MBP along with the 13" because the M1 wasn't powerful enough for the expectations they have creates for the 16". It doesn't make sense to release a new redesigned 16" MBP with less power than the current Intel models. It also doesn't make sense to release a redesigned 14" with the same exact specs as the current M1 13". Given that, I would expect that at least a beefed up M1X is coming in the new MPBs.

Yeah I know but considering the new Mini-LED display, addition of more ports, the redesign, probably 1080p webcam, slightly bigger display… I’m leaning more towards the idea that they’ll keep the price the same and call it a day :(

I love the idea of the new macbooks but the keyboard on my iPad Air is so doggone good ... I like the smaller form overall. I loved the 17 inch macbook pro, replaced it with the 15 inch macbook pro, but now ... these dinosaurs are too large. I might get one anyway, tho!! 🍸🙀

I’ve been waiting patiently for the redesigned 14 inch Apple Silicon MacBook Pro for months! I nearly pulled the trigger on the 13-inch but opted not to because of just 2 thunderbolt ports. I’m glad I waited…

Wonder how much smaller/lighter the 16” can be compared to the current version. Would love to go bigger but find the current 16” a bit too large.

So, how different do you think this laptop will be functionally wise from the current crop of M1 MacBooks or even Intel MacBooks running Big Sur?

Sure, under the hood performance for tasks like video editing and photography might be better. But is this a mass selling point? When I got my M1, I probably used the USB C ports a couple times to back and transfer files, which speaks to how much I don't miss standard USB A or other ports available on my 2015 such as HDMI, Thunderbolt, SD card reader.

The reason why I bring this up, I would think it would be better for Apple to push this out to coincide with the release of macOS 12, which might offer unique functionality to this new generation.
Nobody can really answer that one, until we see what comes after the M1. Constrained unified memory to 16 GB is not exactly viable to some business application usage. I think some of the YouTube demos of people comparing their well kitted 27" iMacs to the recent 2021 24" iMacs leads to a lot of equivalency debate. Is MacOS12 anything more than Big Sur was, or is it just a incremental adaption to more powerful Apple Silicon rollout support?

Hows enterprise acceptance to Apple's transition is my biggest concern? :)

Hoping the battery life is impressive on the 16" despite the small reduction. That is the one aspect of the current model that I was disappointed by.

Can apple chip macs run windows? I haven’t been following much with any updates on this. I need parallels for a few apps I use a lot on my machine.
They can run Windows for ARM through Parallels. Keep in mind that Windows for ARM only supports a subset of Windows apps and lacks the universal compatibility of Windows 10. Windows on ARM is also an insider build so your mileage may vary.

Same, portability is the only real thing stopping me from getting a 16”. If they can shrink the bezels and make it lighter, it’s a no-brainer.

I'm still running one of the last 17" macbookPro's... While I want my next MacBook to have both a LED XDR display, it really needs to have 4k resolution and I really would appreciate going back to a full 17" display. I want the large size screen, I'm 6'4", and everything needs to be a bit larger for me. Also, I'm working with 4k scans so I want 1:1 pixel accuracy for professional work. I need to see my work in actual resolution. So Please Apple.... a Professional MacBookPro with XDR 4k, and a killer support system.

I didn't know that the M2 chip had been announced and promotional graphics are now be circulated... Or is that promotional graphic a deep fake? Yeah, I thought so. Why not just put "M3" on that graphic, since that's what we really want.

Mmm… I have a feeling we not see miniLED this time with it being an optional extra for +$100 possibly… or potentially coming in the 2022 refresh.

I just don’t think it’s possible for Apple to get this out with miniLED with the shortages currently, In a no COVID world I would say 100% it’s coming but at this point I am about 70% sure it’s not coming, mainly due to most recent leaks aren't really mentioning anything about miniLED including Gurmans report.
