Faster processor?

Will it make video play faster? 🤣

Maybe this is another attempt to make it a game console. I wouldn't know... I only use my 4th gen 2015 Apple TV HD to watch video.

Though Apple might be getting into 4K 120Hz video so maybe they're building extra headroom into the new models.

I guess we'll find out.

I would like them to make an AppleTV “dock”. Imagine current Apple TV with larger PSU and USB-C port on the front for charging laptops and iPads. Have video in on that port accessed via an app on the Apple TV
That sounds like completely backwards thinking, why would anyone want to walk up to their TV to charge something? Literally probably the most inconvenient spot to charge lol. And if you did want that, you can simply already have a dock right next to your Apple TV plugged into the same outlet the Apple TV is plugged into. I just don't see the benefit of having that integrated into the Apple TV itself. Also why the need for a video input when AirPlay is way more convenient? This whole product idea is so weird to me, sorry lol.

It's catching up to the Mac Mini tho. 13+ years and going strong I guess.

full

I would love it if they’d put that slot back with a Bluray drive in there and built-in software support.

Now that they have Apple TV+ that will never happen of course. But it would be nice.

I will ALWAYS take an update for the Apple TV. Always. Even if it is just a spec bump on the chip and nothing more.

8K support has more to do with media/content than hardware. I'm sure the hardware is about there now, but how soon will Apple and all other streaming services be streaming 8K? I don't think we're there yet. Maybe not even next year.

Hey Apple, how about giving us a better remote?!

It is definitely one of the most Ive things still around.

”We wanted it to be too small for a human hand, with edges sharp enough to cut, made of material just slippery enough to slide out of your hand, thin enough to slip into any crevice in a seat, with a color scheme designed to blend in so that it’s never seen again. All in a package lacking the precision finding technology you know we have, charged by an out of date interface you hate, with batteries that can’t be replaced.

We present to you: the perfect remote control.”

Odds are probably slim to none but I wish they'd come out with an AppleTV stick of some sort. Perfect for wall mounted TVs, small rooms (like our kids) that don't need the biggest and best specs or to take up room on a dresser. Fewer cords to worry about too.

Everyone saying but why?

It’s probably to make sure assembly lines are manufacturing a certain range of items.

How feasible is it that Apple creates an M-series console type Apple TV? We've seen their push into services and I could imagine Apple investing into bigger games with broader appeal on Apple Arcade. They have what they need to do it.

It's for Wi-Fi 6E (less likely Wi-Fi 7) at minimum, better reception and throughput. Also Bluetooth 5.3/5.4. Ultra Wideband (like in AirTag) in remote is very desirable. And 4K HDR/Dolby Vision at 120Hz, if added, could be a differentiation for their TV+ expanding sport coverage.
