The black iPhone 5 was gorgeous, hoping the black 6S has a similar finish!

and if so, I'd hope the finish doesn't rub off like the 5 did. I hated that my 5 after a couple of months of careful use, looked like I took sandpaper to every edge of the phone.

One of the reasons the black was removed from the lineup is they were prone to showing scratches. This is why they have replaced it with the space gray. With this new Aluminum format the hardness may be enough that the black version will not show or scratch as easily. I hope this is the case as I loved my black version but the had to keep taking a sharpie to it, to hide the small wear and scratch marks.

This seems plausible, especially about the design staying the same. I would bet the next 5 models are identical until a redesign.

Sure, why not. Apple has to have a reason to charge $1200 for $100 worth of parts, so why not claim to be using a more premium form of aluminum. I am sure there are people just itching to throw away their iPhone 6 for an iPhone 6s now just because it uses a form of aluminum with a fancy marketing name.

The existing space gray iPhone is also expected to look slightly more black, possibly in line with the space black Apple Watch.

Is this a typo? It sounds like this was referring to the space grey Apple Watch, which is blacker than the space grey currently used on the phone.

I really prefer my 5s space grey to the black 5. I hope they hit a happy medium between both. I know the 6 got lighter, so much so it wasn't far off the silver, which isn't ideal

I just find it interesting that the iPhone 5 was black, then made into "space gray" for the 5S... And now that's just reverted this time around. #innovation

pointless comment, if you're suggesting changing the colors around makes apple incapable of innovating. pointless, especially considering they'll be the first smartphone w/ forcetouch. and so many other hardware elements -- which are always, always cloned by samsung.

Force Touch and AMOLED are two unrelated technologies.

Force Touch will not 'use' AMOLED.

Not actually true. There are a few different technologies that :apple: are using, are testing or have tested for FT. One of them is the flexible AMOLED that they used in the :apple:Watch. Even so, I think it's more likely that they use the FT trackpad technology in the iPhone, or some other technology.
If the 6S has an AMOLED, that is probably another reason to get a 6 Plus when it's cheaper. The IPS LCD just looks more natural.
And everybody talking about the pronunciation of Aluminium (yes, I spell it like that, I'm British) you SHOULD be talking about the pronunciation of AMOLED (A-moled)
