even if they hadn't introduced one new feature, i'd still think holding off for the 6S would be worth it if the 'space gray' was dropped for closer to black. ditching 100% black never made one iota of sense to me. NOTHING looks as good as a black iPhone 4 or 5. the 5S lost much appeal imo. hell, it's not even "gray" - it's friggin matte silver.

For me it is same old marketing trick: they could name it Plutonium 244 and whole bunch of zealots would argue, that only Apple could do that and aluminium 7000 "it is so 2014", because it doesn't glow in the dark. ;)

Actually, it reminds me of my conversation with Berlin Apple Store employee year or two ago:

- "Hi, I need a new iPhone for our new employee. So the iPhone 5 is more affordable version of iPhone 5, right?"
- "No, listen: it is build of high quality polycarbonate and defines a whole new iPhone category for the customers, who would love to have more colour options on their iPhones"
- "So it means, the iPhone 5C is actually an iPhone 5, but posh plastic, right?"
- "No, it is high quality polycarbonate material"
- "Exactly. And in other words, it means plastic, doesn't it?"
- "... Have you ever held one in your hand? You would definitely change your mind, because it is that feel of quality in your hand..."

I left speechless and actually ordered one 5 or 5S from the enterprise hotline (by the way).

Hahaha, thanks for that one. Sales people are so funny sometimes

I sympathize with this. Lol I remember when my friend asked me which color I was going to get and I told him about the struggle of wanting black but having to get space grey. I told him it wasn't a black replacement, and that it was basically a dark silver. I was livid. He could not understand why it bothered me so much haha

"Kuo reiterated that the next-generation iPhone will be available in a new Rose Gold color option, similar to the rose gold Apple Watch Edition, and also claimed that the existing gold color could be changed to look more like the yellow gold Apple Watch Edition. The existing space gray iPhone is also expected to look slightly more black, possibly in line with the space black Apple Watch."

Sounds pretty much like the handful of dye colors that are available with the standard aluminum anodize processes that have been around for the last half century or so...

Wake me up if they come out with a 4" screen version, or even better a 3.5". Going to hold onto my 5S otherwise.

The new iPhone really should be *shorter*. Look at the LG G2 android phone. iPhone 6 is way too tall. Making it shorter would reduce bend-gate complaints as well, without adding a thicker casing.

What I don't get is if it is 60% stronger then their usual aluminum then why do they need to make it any thicker unless it is for a thicker battery? In theory they could make it thinner and achieve the same strength in that. I don't know of anyone who have actually experienced the bend gate phenomenon in real use. And I believe shortly after that came to light they slightly redesigned that region by thickening the material on the inside around the buttons to even increase the strength further. Wasn't there news of some titanium shim they even embedded in that region?

I think the whole thicker thing is to accommodate the FT module. To me it doesn't sound hard. Just put a force sensor on each corner. It would also stop people complaining about the bezels being there for no reason, as they do even when the bezels are there for a reason.

A thicker iPhone ..... Yeah right ;)

I just hope the battery life improves .

Yawn to people accepting iPhone battery as perfectly acceptable.

It is perfectly acceptable. 24-48 hours depending on model and usage is pretty darn good, and that's about to get even better with iPhone 6S and iOS 9.

Yet everyone I know with an iPhone 6 reports far less than that. Its pretty dire. iPhone battery life has never been great. My brand new iPhone 5 is a travesty.

Yet if the battery lasted 2-3 days and the iPhone was fatter and heavier then all those people would moan about it being a brick.

It's all about compromise and balance, and battery life doesn't look beautiful in an ad or promo video so is a difficult sell where as physical appearance does, and it's all about what will sell more phones at the end of the day.

lolwut? Where did you get that from?

Ming is a guy. CultofMac posted an article about him two hours ago: http://www.cultofmac.com/273923/ming-chi-kuo/

Finally! I really hope this article puts kuo's hating to rest. If you are unhappy that his predictions are "safe" it's only because apple hasn't planned for something extraordinary. And I think the rose color option is not something you can conjure up.

Since when did I say to make it a brick?

The rumour said the phone is meant to be increasing in size, so I suggested that I'd (and others) would prefer a bigger battery if the phone had to be larger.

I was talking about AMOLED specifically. Forcetouch seems like an obvious bet for the 6S.

If they do plan on changing the current IPS display to that of an AMOLED one, I doubt it would come as soon as this year; both for manufacturing reasons, and (even more likely) for product differentation between 6S and 7. Display changes are usually for the number change models, are they not?

The apple watch was the first product of apple's with an AMOLED display and that just launched - or am I wrong?

You are right, the Apple watch was the first Apple product to have a AMOLED display. I have no idea what they will do, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did introduce AMOLED midcycle. As I understand it, you can't do force touch on the LCD and it adds thickness so they would go to AMOLED since that is thinner and can handle force touch.

Don't quote me though, my memory may be off.

please no AMOLED.. LCD (RGB) is such a more natural spectrum. AMOLED looks great at first but then you realize everything including contrast and color are exaggerated. some people with photography or design hobbies/professions NEED natural displays or those charcoal grays and near-whites get lost - and i came to feel like there was always a slight filter over the image, especially with pics using the flash. Samsung phones' screens admittedly look great and crisp, but it's somewhat of a - for lack of a better word - 'gimmicky' visual trick. preference matters a lot here, but i'd hate for apple to ditch the best visual representation phones have to offer (imho).

I've noticed every aspect of what you've mentioned, and had a GS2 back in the day - however I think that it's a manufacturing choice and not necessarily the nature of AMOLED screens. To be honest I can't wait to see how an Apple AMOLED display would turn out. I've yet to see the iWatch, but I do not think it would look like the samsung AMOLED screens i.e. overly high contrast and saturation.

Get.A.Battery.Case.

So.... if i want an only *****DECENT*****, not awesome, battery life, i need to get a case that make iphone 1/2 an inch thick instead of just wishing apple would some tenths of a milimeter (NOT A SINGLE FULL MILIMETER!) to have a better battery life?????

DO YOU KNOW THAT ADDING 0.7 MM TO THE IPHONE 6 WOULD MAKE ITS BATTERY INCREASE IN 20%?????? FROM 1810 mAh to 2172 mAh, THAT'S PRETTY SIGNIFICANT, AND ALSO, 0.7 MM IS THE EXACT THICK OF THE CAMERA BUMP, SO THE CAMERA WOULD NOT PROTRUDE ANYMORE, AND ALSO, DID YOU KNOW THAT ADDING 0.7 MM TO THE IPHONE 6 WOULD MAKE IT AS THICK AS THE IPHONE 5S (7.6 MM), WHICH IS ALREADY PRETTY THIN!? ALTER ALL OF THIS DO YOU STILL WANTING A THINNER AND THINNER IPHONE????
