I think 3 or maximum 3.5 mm is the way to go. 7.6 is gonna look like a brick! Sorry to say that!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Who decided a headphone jack on the bottom was a good idea? I like being able to dock/un-dock my phone without having to unplug my headphones.

Well i bet that is probably incorrect anyway. Seeing as how in the previous 'leaked' iphone photos, the people who made the phone couldnt even make sure the minus volume button faced the same direction in every pic... I know apple wouldnt produce phones with volume buttons facing different directions.

Idk, I think the mock ups that have popped up look really nice, and I'll definitely get the next iPhone that comes out, but I find it so weird that after Tim spoke about how they're going to double down on secrecy, that THIS much info leaks out.

I know that information about this kind of stuff always comes out little by little regardless, but it feels like it takes away credibility from what Tim was talking about.

new phone

Good, now make it fold into a watch that I can wear on my wrist instead of having to carry it in pockets. Let it swivel and be detachable with an earpiece that connects to the sides.

So how does this compare to SIII and Nexus? (and dare I say the Razr?)

SIII is 8.6MM
Nexus is 9.8MM
OneX is 8.9MM
Razr is 7.1MM

I'm impressed. 7.6MM is VERY thin. I played with the S3 and immediately said, "Wow, its thin."

Interestingly this makes the iPhone (2012) volume LESS than the 4S. 12.5% less based on the external measurements. I will look into the glass thickness because of InCell to see what that does to internal volume. Roughly speaking though, looks like less room for the battery.

iPhone (2012): 58.47 x 123.83 x 7.6 mm = 55,026 Cu mm
iPhone 4S: 58.6 x 115.2 x 9.3 mm = 62,781 Cu mm
This is exactly the information I came here to find--what this meant for the total volume of the phone.

If accurate, this new design is a modern marvel, even more revolutionary than the 4/4S design, and an embarrassment to other phone makers (assuming it doesn't have antenna issues/etc.).

I assume the battery life will stay the same as the 4S.

It's only 8-9mm taller and that's it. That's not that much bigger..

Haven't you realised that the majority of people suffer from having tiny pockets, pockets that by some miracle are the exact dimensions as an iPhone 4S? Anything else is too big.

2/3 of the way to "Thinner. Lighter. Faster."

"Lighter" might be the hardest to achieve depending on what it is packing (I.E. larger battery).

To each their own, but when my head is tied to my iPhone, I don’t want it docked to anything.

Meanwhile, a phone naturally goes into a pocket head-first. Currently, that means the headphone cable bears the weight of the phone! So I’ve long wished for the jack on the bottom, like the iPod Touch has.

Plus, I hate holding up my phone and having useless cable looping up and draping down, wasting inches of cord. The cord is connected to me, so it should come out of a jack that points toward me, not away!

P.S.: by these dimensions, the new iPhone is smaller than ever: 7% longer, but 18% thinner. (And 18% more pixels.) That means the new iPhone is about 1/8 smaller in volume than the iPhone 4.

it seems that in the last couple of years the rumors have been getting more and more accurate to the point where the keynote address isn't just exciting but boring since all the info has been leaked via rumors (iPhone 4 announcement, iPad, iPad 2 are just some of the examples I am thinking about) So much for Cook's statement about doubling down the hatches on the leaks....
