Even more so when you consider it will look 1000 times better in the sleek opaque albino glass 'flesh'.
Another thing to add to this (to defend against the insecure knuckle-draggers that claim it is 'girly' or looks horrible) is the fact that to date all white Apple products have been made of plastic/polycarbonate, fairly cheap-looking and one-dimensional.

However, we already know the iPhone 4G casing is a sandwich of two layers of glass. Very different, much more tactile and reflective. Take a look at certain vodka bottles next time you're going through the airport, e.g. Absolut Vanilla or Chase.

White is classic, ever since the first generation nano white has been labeled "girly" which is kind of stupid. That being said, i would rather keep with the current style with a white back/black front since i think the white front would make my eyes strain after looking at the screen for awhile.

Might look good, but it would seem simpler to offer various colors for the aluminum trim instead.

white would be nice if al sides were anodized blue (or maybe just black)

or black iphone and al anodized burnt orange. :p

i thought light sensor until someone else mentioned LED indicator, now i hope its the latter.
Can you imagine Apple ever putting a generic red LED or even a Blackberry-type red/green blinker on one of their products? Green battery indicators on laptops have traditionally been hidden away so that doesn't count.

If it's an LED (highly doubtful) it will be a pulsing white LED like the laptop 'sleep' indicator, showing that something (if you've switched audio off) needs your attention (SMS, email, other notification).

I'm betting it is a green iSight indicator though.

Again the sense that white Apple products are a cheaper version.

I don't think you guys from the US are familiar with Nokia, this reminds me of the white N97:

I'd bet the unknown piece is an indicator light much like on the MacBook webcam. I think the white is cool! EVERYONE has the black iPhone. Did you know pink was considered a masculine color before the 1940s? ;)

And it still is in ac country like Italy.. Or Spain..

Even though that is a quick and dirty 'shop, I am drooling like a St Bernard.

For me pure white has always been synonymous with modern Apple products, from the original iPod and numerous generations since, all iMacs until current (Luxo, G5 with chin etc.), the iBook/white Macbook and the Alu keyboards. The current fetish for glossy black is just a fad, and an ugly generic-looking one as well.

+1

I think white and silver would look awful, but I'll have to wait and see and feel it.

The white and black iphone is BOSS however, and my waiting for cheap iPod Touch models will be worth it if there's a new white faced iPod Touch.

We've heard of them and the N97 . . .

I'd have to see it in person but I like what I see. I've had numerous white phones, I don't see the big deal. The white would look better with a polished bezel...

the live blogs are going to have to throw in some jokes just to keep this keynote interesting...

Those Giz letters needs to go, how dare they put their dirty name on thy holy iphone!!

Well, yeah. But I figured the original shot was somewhat mundane, so I just decided to quickly touch it up a little...you know, to show it off a bit better. Mainly by putting more emphasis on the 'cooler' colours, such as blue and cyan (though I did balance this by putting magenta over green to give it a little zing). The other main thing was desaturating it. I also played with brightness/contrast and curves. Nothing major really.

But if anyone can be bothered removing the letters, please do :)

I'll take 2 blueberry phones, 4 tangerines, a flower-power and a dalmatian please...

Haha, nice. I'll take a graphite and a key lime.
I think this is great as long as its not a budget iPhone like someone postulated.
I have said from day 1 that what I hated about the white iPhone was that it was really just a black one with a white plastic back. I realize the black makes the screen look uniform when it's asleep, but I prefer uniformity withe the front and back.
BTW white is not girly- its awesome and VERY Apple. I loved my white iPod Photo, iMac, and iBooks so this is rather stoking indeed.
I do wish Apple would have kept black as an option for the MacBook, though!
