There are some private forums that have intelligent discourse. There are even some public forums that have the correct application of certain features that promote intelligent conversation.
For example, since Slashdot has instituted a down-ranking, filtering comment system, the conversation has turned around 180 degrees. It used to be one of the most repellent forums on the Internet, but today, it is actually quite readable. The community participants are giving the thumbs down to spammers, flamers, trolls, and generally stupid people. It is a far more effective system than ignore lists or legions of moderators.
95% of the comments in the MacRumors forum over the past month would be down-ranking into oblivion if the Slashdot comment system would be instituted here.

agreed, white would be too girly, but there are lots of girls out there to market them too. Given a white only option, i.e. old skewl ipod is one thing but with black or white as choices, white=girly.

White is kind of girly when it comes to tech items. Certain colors are more feminine than others. White is better suited for appliances than computers.
Would you be happy if Apple only made a shock pink iphone? No black, no white, just shock pink. Shock pink is only a color too, so what would the big deal be? right?

Exactly, what would be the big deal? You either want the phone or you don't. Which is why I commented that it was foolish to think that white loses its girly status when it is the only choice. It obviously does not.
If it only came in pink, you could choose to buy it or not. But the fact is, it is just a color. If you want to play into the stereotypes that have been applied to colors, be my guest. But you sound like a child calling a color "girly."
Nice job. This isn't a knock on your photo, but now that I see it like that, I have to say that it looks a little cheap. All of the seams combined with the white face give off a sort of Sidekick-ish vibe. Meh, I'm sure I'll still want one

Side-by-side, the white looks so much sexier to me. A lot more slick and clean. Of course this is assuming it has a nice finish and not look like cheap-o plastic, which I trust Apple to do.
As a girl (and probably the majority of the girls I've met), I would NOT want a bright hot pink phone. Not every girl is Paris Hilton, please.

Not at all. I am an artist, and anybody with creativity and knowledge in that area knows that different colors represent different moods, emotions and characteristics. Certain colors are certainly more "feminine" than other colors and it has nothing to do with sounding like a child.
When a company decides to release a product or a person decides to paint their livingroom wall, color choice certainly plays into it, and a specific color can change the whole mood and effectiveness of a product and how people relate to it.

Of course not all females would be ok with a pink iphone, but I don't think there's any doubt that a far greater number of females would be ok with a pink iphone than males would be.
To be honest, I'm not sure I like the entire phone being white. I'd be much happier with the current scheme of black front and white back.
