Not at all. I am an artist, and anybody with creativity and knowledge in that area knows that different colors represent different moods, emotions and characteristics. Certain colors are certainly more "feminine" than other colors and it has nothing to do with sounding like a child.

When a company decides to release a product or a person decides to paint their livingroom wall, color choice certainly plays into it, and a specific color can change the whole mood and effectiveness of a product and how people relate to it.

I absolutely agree that colors represent different moods, emotions and characteristics. And certain colors have been defined as more feminine.

Yet, any artist should know that no color should *only* be used for a certain group of individuals. Playing into what society has defined as a "feminine" or "masculine" color is not a very "artist" thing to do.

Pink can be used to represent my male emotions or moods just as any other color can be. It is unfortunate that we can't separate these properties of masculine and feminine (among others) from colors, and this is the very reason I find the notion that a color being "girly" as childish. Their is nothing inherent to the color pink that makes it a color more suited for a girl. Alas, fighting what is likely centuries of the passing on of these ideas is a pointless fight.

As I stated, it is merely a color. That said, I look forward to an all white iPhone.

I think all white with the aluminum trim is pretty sexy. Thats coming from someone supremely confident in his masculinity.

Same here. I've gone with white on the 3G and 3GS. Going to do the same with the 4th gen. Why? It's different and more importantly, it's classic Apple. I think white is sexy. Black looks like any other boring cell phone. Is it an iPhone or a Blackberry.. who knows?! With white.. BOOM, it's an iPhone 100%.

I find white products rather androgynous, white in combination with chrome/metal on the other hand I find very feminine. But my GOD what an awful looking phone. I'm already bored by it's form, or lack of form, or whatever.

im liking the white, i have a black 3G and 3GS, i think its time for a change.

im not too bothered but if they can make the silver trim a little lighter in colour then i think it would sit better with the white, but i doubt they will do that.

White is kind of girly when it comes to tech items. Certain colors are more feminine than others. White is better suited for appliances than computers.

Would you be happy if Apple only made a shock pink iphone? No black, no white, just shock pink. Shock pink is only a color too, so what would the big deal be? right?

Only girls and flaming gays would want to have a shock pink iPhone.

I get the feeling that one day you're going to be one of these anti-gay US Senators that gets caught sucking off a male prostitute in a truck stop bathroom. Usually, the more worried you are about looking feminine, the more you're trying to hide how feminine you are. Just trying to help you hide it a bit better in the future… you're welcome.

Up until not that long ago, pink was considered masculine and blue was thought of as feminine. Then again, boys used to be called girls, too!
Stephen Fry said so...

Moving on though, I'd really like to see a chrome or aluminium version. Now that would be sexy...

Even if I were gay or extremely feminine, I wouldn't want a pink iphone, but that's just my personal choice. It's just not a color that I am fond of and pink doesn't represent me at all.

And don't worry, I have no plans of becoming a US senator and I don't frequent any truck stops.

:)

Of all the mockups I've seen I think this one looks the best:

In 6 pages no one has managed to analyze the possible validity of this entire scenario. How likely is it that apple would release a white iPhone? Their trend seems to disagree. The black and aluminum theme is taking over their product lineup with the exception of the white MacBook of course.

Worst I have seen.

This phone has a different look to it. I would say that a white front 2G, 3G, 3Gs would look silly. This phone however, seems to look pretty good with a white front.

Apple has been offering choice with the plastic models, and I think that will continue. But, nobody will know until Apple announces it, so what good would any "analysis" do?

The Mac Mini is also white and so are the iMacs I believe. And all of the accessories like power supplies and keyboards are still white.

When it comes to their larger mobile products, the trend is definitely black/aluminum, but the handheld devices are on a different trajectory. They started with black/white iPod Nano and now they have, what, 10 different colors?

Cellphones have a bit of accessory value to them in a way that laptops do not. I think Apple recognizes that this is an area where lack of choice is not appreciated.

I would actually really like to see apple move into more color options, but I know for the iphone that won't happen as they look cheaper. But for the iPod Touch, I feel it's a matter of time.
