This "Appleless syndrome" is real serious in this digital world (not just MR site..but other sites as well). Dealing with lack of viable rumors to hardwares (which is understandable), some-what lacking of innovations (if that's what people think), Apple focusing on musics (some people might appreciate it), getting fatigue from hearing Tim cook saying, "amazing products" and other things Apple may say (it could be annoying for some people), Apple getting all political (some may appreciate this), MR lacking rumors/stories...and etc. (i could be wrong as well).

I guess we can be sarcastic and joke around....or find alternative to hardwares or not give a s*** and become loose cannon.

But I guess lacking rumors is pretty much hard for me.

Seeing these news about touch id or fingerprint sensor or touch panel really pisses me off. It's like apple is treating us like brainless fanboys. THIS IS A PRO MACHINE AND NOT AN IPAD OR STH. people pay thousands of dollars for its processing power, not a fingerprint sensor. I buy pro because i make music and music software needs huge processing power. Same goes for graphic designer, video editors etc. and these useless things will consume the battery and processing power which we need for our main tasks. It's really a joke. I've been trying to justify my wait for a new macbook pro for a very long time although it 's too expensive. And i was (and still a little bit) hoping for a good upgrade with more processing power, storage, ram and battery power. But if fingerprint whatever will be the main headline of this update, I'll go buy a windows laptop. you really can't impress me with these things apple. Unless you do major changes in performance of the laptop or merge ios and osx, the rest is just marketing tricks and i dont buy it.

Give me this Apple ........

mac-display-trackpad.jpg
Now that really WOULD be awesome!! (I would imagine that having the second screenit would be quite expensive though, and battery would die alot quicker, so would probably better just to make the main screen a touch-screen rather than using the second one in the touch-pad area) Totally love your idea though!

For the meantime though, I do want to express my support for TouchID coming to MacBooks. For me, TouchID is one of those features that I consider a "must have", and is surprising that it's taken this long to come to Macbooks. I know they announced last time that the newer Macbooks would interact with the AppleWatch for thiongs like auto-wake, but for everyone who does not have an AppleWatch, or if the watch runs out of power, having TouchID physically on the Macbook would solve both of those problems. So I strongly welcome this addition.

As long as Apple is innovating the hell out of everything, one thing I would love to see is a silent MacBook Pro, or a silent mode for a MacBook Pro. Apple has turned a lot of people on to the possibility of a no-noise computer. What if they had a software throttle that capped a more-powerful processor's TDP at 9W or something where the heat could be dissipated passively, and the fan only kicked in in very exceptional circumstances like video render? A powerhouse when I want one, a silent computer when I don't. That is something which would have me leaping for a MacBook Pro again.

The rumors of Touch ID and OLED bar are welcome. I'd also like 1 USB-c port and 1 lightning port (replacing the headphone port). However I hope they retain the SDXC card and the 2 USB 3.0 ports too.

Super features would be a jump in screen resolution and "14 and "16 inch screens. 32GB RAM option via made to order upgrade would also be very very welcome!

I have the 2015 13 rMBP but my wallet is ready to upgrade!

It would be interesting, if Apple would update only the Macbooks and not a single of their desktop line computers.

Maybe they will even announce, that there won't be any (desktop) Mac update at all.

Uh oh. Complaints about processing power aside, this would greatly reduce the MBPro's utility to developers and other people who do serious work. Personally I can always use MORE buttons, not less. I also touch type and a touch sensitive stripe won't give me any feedback.
Starting to believe the rumors about the iOS-ification of Macs here.

This is one of the really great things about the new retina macbooks. I had kinda forgotten about the silence till I was working on a buddys MBP and the fans kick in and interrupted my zen.

I had a 15 but traded it in for a 2016 Macbook with the M7. So far, the performance has been great. The SSD is incredible. My only beef is Apple does not make a USB-C display. Seems like a no brainer.

Nice. But where are the screw studs for the battery?

Remember, If anything goes wrong with this new tech you will want to spend $200 to fix it. After all, it will be your power switch.

Flipping release this thing already, yet again I'm faced with needing to replace my computer and another colleagues and I don't want to waste it on a "current gen" model.

I think this whole apple car non-sense is eating them alive from the inside out. They are shoveling resources at Titan like we are actually going there and pulling power away from old projects like the macbook and the iPhone

Many personnel, but Apple has the money to spend. They have $60+ BILLION in CASH and cash equivalent investments. They spent about $2 Billion on R&D last year. This 'Apple doesn't have the resources' is false. Maybe there's internal management issues, but as far as economic resources, Apple has tons.

I don't think the Lightning port will replace the headphone jack on the MBP, but in addition to it. Most likely in the space where the mag-safe is currently (assuming those case "leaks" are legit). This makes sense as people will be able to use the same cable to charge all their Apple products, while leaving all the USB-C ports free for data.

The SDXC card surprises me, and I'd like to know the reason for dropping it, beyond lack of space. Wireless doesn't really work for transferring files from SD cards, and adapters don't make sense for such a widely used standard. Even after everyone migrates their USB-A gear to USB-C there will still need to be an adapter for the SD card. Is there something on the horizon to replace it? USB-C out of cameras? Or wireless out of cameras?

But while I understand the convenience of maintaining a legacy USB-A port, it will actually be a useless port in a couple of years for many users. Keeping it around only encourages the continued use of legacy equipment, rather than upgrading as soon as possible. And frankly, only applies to things like thumb drives with built-in connection plugs. The reality is most USB-A devices connect with an "adapter" cable anyway, so a switch to a USB-C cable is easy and cheap. I can only imagine some cheap USB-A to USB-C adapters will come out for things like thumb drives which will add only a few mm to the size.

I'll be the most positive person on this forum when your message is true. First I want real evidence in the form of a real 'most significant upgrade ever undertaken by Apple' product. I've have enough of 'amazing', 'thrilled', 'you only see this at Apple'. I want to be amazed for real.

And just to be clear, "amazed" in this context is not a synonym for "crippled in some way that we won't say".

Apple is done building Macs.
Corrected.
"Apple is done building Macs that perform."

Everyone's moaning about Macbook Pro's, you finally get some rumors and there's only 195 comments? But the fake iPhone 7 design posts and Samsung blabbin' about an audio jack gets about 30 pages. lol.

That same rumors and pics were showed a couple of months ago too. Most don't expect something anymore, because if you do... You'll be disappointed.

My thoughts exactly. Very poor design choice

I doubt it will be an issue.
Even now a Mac only goes to sleep, which most certainly would be disabled if this rumor is true. The only issue that may arise is if an idiot pushed and held the button until the Mac force shut down.
