#1 it's a rumor. #2 nothing in this rumor to indicate this is all the new iPhone is going to be.

I guess you did not bother reading the first part of my sentence that I already know it is just a rumor. Please next time take your time to ready my post thanks.

I work in marketing. Consumers don't run towards a phone because they can use one hand. Youre taking things to the extreme.

They run towards a phone because of things like; ease of use, aesthetic design, price and BRAND NAME. And we all know how often people buy iPhones just because of the name.

Then you should find a new job! I'm not taking things to the extreme, the iPhone is stunning design and is what helps to sell it and that INCLUDES it's physical size and 3.5" screen. In fact I stated it's design in my first comment. Brand name maybe in the US but I would not say as much in the rest of the world.

This makes me wanna get a Samsung Galaxy Note instead. Nice Screen Size.

I have a note after being underwhelmed with my 4S, it's great, and I really love the screen. I still think I like the iOS environment though, but this may be due to the note not having Ice Cream Sandwich yet. If Apple continues to make these dinky phones, I simply will go buy phones elsewhere, it's really pathetic that they sell the SMALLEST smartphone in the market right now.

I cannot got back to my 4S after using my Galaxy Note, it just looks cramped and like a toy.

Unless AT&T will offer true unlimited data plan for LTE, I would have no reason to upgrade from the 4S to this iPhone configuration. If it had a bigger screen, then yeah, I would probably get it - otherwise, no way.

My suggestion to Apple would be to offer two sizes; a small version but somewhat limited and a bigger version with all the bells and whistles - wait, that would be 4S and 5! ;)

I switched to the iPhone from a Galaxy S. It took me a few hours to get used to the screen size, but honestly, I don't notice a huge difference in the extra .5 inches. It's definitely not worth the app fragmentation that would follow.

Also, anything larger that 4.2 risks alienating a decent amount of their user base. A female friend just got a Galaxy S2 and she hates the screen size. Just on form factor alone she wants an iPhone.

'Yes, let's give a handout to a poorly run company that chooses to not jump on that train and offer one of the world's most popular phones.'

You imply here that T-Mobile didnt want the iPhone.

No, them choosing to not offer it does not mean they do not want to. That is your inference. It probably does not make sense to them because the cost/reward. They may really want it, but that doesn't mean it is fiscally responsible of them to pay the price to get it.

T-Mobile doesn't have a lot of money to just throw around (look at their financial statements). I don't really see them being around in 10 years even.

Have a good day.

You would think since iPhones are not limited to only AT&T anymore that there would be such competition to offer some sort unlimited plan for a iPhone but instead they are doing the opposite.

Perhaps the Micro-dock connector means one of the bigger software features on "the New iPhone" will be airplay based.

I'm sure, for Apple's sake, they want people to invest in new accessories. It makes them money and the accessory maker money.

So it would have to be a big deal for them to say goodbye to such a standard for Apple. Maybe airplay could support 1080P and surround sound to any receiver that offers the new airplay and the Micro-dock connector is just for power... Just a thought

I see no point in anything larger than 3.5". It's supposed to be a phone you slip in your pocket. These 4" 4.5" phones are just silly.

I have an iPad if I need something larger. How many in between devices can we really manage? The iPhone represents the perfect size for a phone. The iPad is the next logical step up in size if you need more screen real estate.

How many sub categories can we have?

In one week we have rumors of 4.6", 4" and now 3.5". Maybe these are all controlled Apple leak to see what the reaction is. If that's the case, I think it is safe to say that 3.5" is outnumbered and passionately at that.

I agree. I think they are probably also putting a larger connector on the same size screen to keep the actual one unknown. Why make 1 prototype when you can make 3 and poll for free on sites such as this. I personally am hoping for the 4 in screen, although I have a 4s so really don't need one right now. It is an exciting time though, definitely looking forward to the next 15 MBP or whatever they decide to call it, hoping for big changes there.

Why should I find a new job when I do well in marketing? Have you ever seen a billboard for a phone that praised a very specific feature, or a ridiculous one like 'Introducing the new iPhone! You can use one OR two hands!'

Manufacturers arent going to run on specifics like thats, much less would the ad agency even suggest it (too limiting).

Usually even if a phones battery holds less than 1% it will still connect via cable. But in my case the iPod wouldnt last for more than 30 minutes, and eventually got worse down to 15 minutes and on top of it all the hard drive failed in the end which rendered the iPod completely useless.

When connected to the computer the iPod is running off bus power from USB/Firewire, not the battery so battery life would have no impact on your ability to get content from your iPod unless the cable were damaged which would explain both the appearance of battery problems and an inability to transfer music.

But youre not comprehending what I wrote, I gave a number of examples of the limitations/fault of the iPod. Its not just the battery. And getting music BACK from an iPod wasnt possible back then (and if it was, i didnt know about it). Even today you have to be somewhat tech savvy to get tracks off the iPod.

No, you gave a limited number of anecdotes and came to a faulty conclusion. My 1st generation iPod still gets 5 hours of battery life, there’s nothing of value to draw from that anymore than your experience.

Getting music off the iPod was actually quite easy up until fourth generation iPods/iPod mini, well after your issues, when the record companies forced Apple to close the loophole. In iTunes you selected your device and dragged the files you wanted to your library. Your iPod had to be associated with that machine to prevent you uploading to anyone.

I think the only shocking news in that article is the "Micro Dock" connector.

Don't see that happening. There are millions of peripherals out there with the current 30-pin connector. IMO, I'm sure they are playing with a smaller connector but will eventually not go with it.

If Apple wants to see a sharp drop in market share, change the connector. This was one of Palm many flaws in their strategy. They would unnecessarily change the connector every two years broadsiding third party attachment developer.

Damn Apple gotta come out with a new iPhone every year. I barely got to enjoy fully my 4s. I don't use my fake 4G on my iPhone that much so LTE isn't really the biggest news to me. I think I'm gonna keep my 4s for a little longer

Absolutely. I guess they need to invest on their infrastructure. I don't know why it's taking so long. I was hoping t-mobile would get the iPhone because they seemed to have really competitive plans and prices but looking at their site now, they also have some kind of cap. It says on they website for the 4G unlimited: "Includes up to 2 GB of high-speed data". That's f'ed up.

2 days ago, there were rumors of a 4.6" screen and now this?

Well if Apple tries to pull what they did last year with the 4S and release the upcoming iPhone as the the 4GS, yes the 3.5" is very possible.

I prefer a bigger screen for watching videos and web browsing, but a bigger screen will negate the want for an iPad so Apple may not want to go that route.

And this is why I don't want Apple to make a bigger iPhone and keep a same size one even though that supposedly would make everyone happy. Because I suspect it would be something like this (where the bigger phone gets all the tech upgrades). Cause I don't want the bigger phone but that doesn't mean I don't want the better specs (I do play games on my phone). Just cause I want portability out of my mobile phone to be a big part of its design doesn't mean I don't want a high end phone.
