Regardless what screen size the new iPhone will have, it will sell like hotcakes. The allways have, they do and they will. Why? Because they are designed by Apple ;)
I don't mind 4" screen but anything bigger then that is a downer. Have iPad and i don't need another big screen. Am quite happy with the current screen size.

Lets say if this rumor is true - Theres NO WAY i would upgrade to another iphone with the same screen size. Im happy with my white 4 anyway.

I could get an 4s or a newer one, but its like theyre collecting more money for the same phones over over with a new iphone with the same specs but newer stuff added to it.

So APPLE if your reading this - Im not gonna purchase a iphone with 3.5 screen just like the previous iphones.. Id like to see a 4.x screen or bigger.

Eh? Same specs? The retina screen wasn't launched until the iPhone 4, the 3GS offered a vast upgrade over the 3G, the 3G a different design over the first iPhone, the iPhone 4 also gave the A4 processor and much better camera with flash and front camera plus a totally new design, the 4S gave us the dual core A5 processor and again better camera.

So please do not state they have given you the same specs year after year when they have in no way done anything like that.

some REAL improvement...

Personally, I think the screen size is fine for what it is right now. Then again, I drive to work, and not sitting on the train for 30 or so minutes every day to work. So I think it's really hard to judge what size the screen should be for it to be good or bad. But I'd really like to see some REAL technological improvement, something new that other companies doesn't have. For example, long battery life would be great, I don't mind charing my phone every night before I go to sleep. But I think it would be nice to have something that would last for a week, I know that's probably pushing it but that's something I would consider as REAL improvement.

So I suppose, REAL, new, and practical improvement would be the key. Not just keep on taking the same form factor and try to attract consumers by having it look cooler or bigger...

Can someone explain to me why they would stick with USB, which is slow and old? Why not some kind of new Mini-Thunderbolt? Near instant sync, fast charging, etc. They can't expect people to sync 32gb or 64gb over USB 2.0 forever.

So, you think this is a discussion about Apple sales? Who cares about that? I thought people here were expressing their opinions on what phone size they would prefer personally.

I'm really not clamoring for a bigger screen, 3.5 is just fine. If I want a little more screen real estate, I'm going to pick up my iPad.

I need my iPhone to be ultra portable, comfortable to hold, and not put a huge bulge in my front jeans pocket. I've never had a problem doing what I need to do on the move with my iPhone because of the screen size. I'm not going to spend the entire day surfing the web on the thing, because I don't need to, I'm going to use my iPad or my desktop for that.

I would hate to see a huge beast of an iPhone released. Keep it small and tidy.

Why do people think 4" is huge? it is only a half inch bigger than what we have now and it makes for a good experience. I can't stand when people say if I want a bigger screen I will use my iPad. The iPad is 9.7", how is that evan close to portable? If your out and you need to google something are you gonna whip your iPad out and look it up? No, you have an iPhone that is way easier to use. And for what the iPhone does like surfing web, playing music, youtube, netflix, etc... A 4" screen would make all those experiences way better. Playing games on my iPhone is kinda tough because of how much real estate your thumbs take up. If you ever used a 4" phone people would understand that it's the perfect size. 3.5" is nice but a little too small. Hell, even 3.7" would be nice.

Wrong. If my wife can't hold it, it's doa.

That's the key. You can make devices all sorts of different sizes. But the current iPhone is just right for one-handed use by a huge portion of the population. For two-handed use the iPad is also just right for a huge portion of the population. Anything in between would be too big for one-handed use and quite scrunched-up for optimal two-handed input, or would sell in smaller numbers only to people with really big or small hands.

You're saying people's preferences and sales are mutually exclusive? hehe :D...pretty sure they go hand in hand. People buy what they prefer.

European legislation dictates all mobile phones must have USB charging which is in fact a VERY good idea as it means you haven't got to travel with multiple chargers. And they can alway's implement USB 3.

.... I really, REALLY doubt people put that kind of rational when buying their phone.

'Mom, will I be able to use one or two hands with my shiny new phone?'

'Just your left hand son, now go to bed, youve got a big day tomorrow'

So, youre against consumers having choice?

You should know that T-Mobile *does* want the iPhone but Apple, I mean Foxconn, isn't making any with the AWS band. But hey, its easier to just flame an entity without any knowledge on the subject.

Nothing I stated even mildly suggests that I am against users having a choice.

USB 3.0, if implemented to any phone will cost a lot less than a 'mini-thunderbolt' port. Besides, thunderbolt is dead... its been over a year since Apple made headlines about it and i can count the number of devices available for it with my fingers.

No, its because the battery was CRAP and Apple's specs at the time were more vague than Richard Simmons sexuality. The iPod's battery was rated as 'last 8 or more hours'

What does the battery have to do with getting your music off an iPod? Connect the device to the USB or Firewire port and get your music. Done.

A microdock connector? Nothing like making all those spare docking cables we have bough over the years useless. Thanks Apple.

Yeah, it sucks but you can't expect them to keep it forever.

I love that people are already mad at Apple on a "rumor"

I heard Apple might make the next iPhone only for people whose name starts with S

Damn You Apple!

Why can't we wait until it is confirmed before we start griping.

The great rumors turn out false and these types of rumors usually turn out true.

No way will they keep 3.5" screen, it's far too outdated.

Exactly, they'll just stop making any iphones.
The whole concept of having a phone is outdated.

Nokia just got a patent where you implant a wire into your finger or under the skin that connects
and they also got the license for vibrating tattoos.

The tattoo ink has metal in it which vibrates when somebody calls you.

Even in different ringtones like manner.

So, here is the future:

Ear implant receiver
Wire as antenna under the skin

Now all we need to do is find a spot for the home button and we are good!

I'd suggest belly button and for those with a little extra flesh in that manly area, forehead!

Done!

You don't understand marketing very well if you believe that people don't base a purchase on how a device feels in the hand and it's design amongst other things.

There is one major flaw in this logic - the vast majority of population have two hands. Why would they worry about one handed use? It's like worrying about being able to ride a bike with one leg.

So is it getting easier to believe that the next iPhone could be named iPhone 4G, not iPhone 5?

Just like the called the new iPad 'The New iPad', I think they will call the new iPhone 'The New iPhone'.
