Just got my i7 15.4" :D

We'll see what happens, but I love the unibody. Best MBP yet!

They will probably use "their experience" from Macbook Air which was built by using "their experience" from iPad.

Liquid metal? Transparent aluminium!

I agree that it will be like the Air in many aspects but what would be the major difference compared to the Air? A bit thicker to fit in a larger battery and more connections? That's not enough differentiation.
I expect Retina, PVA-based displays and a regular HDD in addition to a smaller built-in flash memory.

With each design I think to myself how can they improve on this design, but they sure do. What will they think of next?

I personally would love to see the optical drive out. Those who love to carry it can still carry it externally. Meanwhile, the other "Pros" could make use of more battery better cooling and maybe even a dedicated GPU. If the MBP goes this way I will severely reconsider my thoughts of buying the Macbook Air...

Well, come next year it will be time to sell my current 13" MBP 2011 and upgrade. I'm not particularly happy with how hot my CPU gets in this thing anyway. Hopefully a redesign will help. =)

That's just idiotic. I upgraded from a 2006 MB to a 2011 15" i7, to say I'm satisfied is an understatement. Hideous it is not even near - I've played with the new designs before but nothing comes close to it sitting on your desk.

You're getting all pissy over something that's just a rumour and you don't even know if you're going to like it or not!

I know I have the best machine in the office :apple:

No optical drive is practically a given by now, thus being slimmer & lighter.
I would love to see really slim (to none) bezels across the board (13' 15' 17').
For gods sake throw in an IPS panel!
All in a MBA wedge design (but slightly thicker) and its a guaranteed stunner.

What would also be awesome is if they include that patented led backlit keyboard where each key is individually lit so that they can have dedicated colors on keys for a certain application. just my 2 cents:)

Getting rid of the optical drive would be stupid. No way to burn CDs (yes, I buy CDs because I like supporting artists and I like higher quality music) and no way to watch DVDs (no DVD player or TV here in my dorm room).

Lol. You still use dinosaur tech and call others stupid. Ok buddy

Mee too, although I only upgraded to 4gb ram. I believe our model only utilizes up to 6gb.

It's unofficial, and the late 2008s are picky, but 8GB sort of works.

I have the latest bios/smc and the Crucial 8GB kit, had it installed over two months ago and it works. Many other people have also confirmed the Crucial kit working with the late 2008s.

I believe it was not possible with earlier smc versions, and I know for a fact that some other 8GB kits do not work even now. (I tried Muskin ram, it did not boot).

As for actually utilizing the entire 8GB instead of just 6GB, I'm not sure. Some people say it's a hardware limitation, and it can't use the entire 8GB. But I've stress tested it with Virtual Machines a number of times, and I've used over 7GB without the system swapping. Or maybe I just can't read mac memory usage stats properly..

True. The Crucial kit works fine as long as you have the amended SMC version. I'm running it in the original unibody and can regularly address all 8 GB with ZERO swaping when using Aperture 3 and bunch of other programs day after day without shutting down. It was a nice upgrade choice for $100.

I'm torn on this. The drive is actually quite useful for many people. Imagine sitting in bed watching a netflix DVD with a frickin' dongled CD drive flopping around. Not good. Also, I agree that CD quality music is more pleasant to listen to than the constrained music downloads found on itunes or emusic. A dedicated GPU is a given.

I'm all for a bezel reduction and IPS panel as well. What I could care less about is the wedge shape which inevitably comes at the expense of battery. I suppose this would aid all the weird people on here that seem to somehow hurt their wrists on the 'sharp edges' of the unibody. To them: you're holding it wrong.

I wanted a new MBP to update my 5 yr old macbook and was gonna wait until the back to school promo... now i might want to wait a littler longer....

Finally! I wanted to buy the 2011 Macbook Pro but was disappointed by the lack of design change. The Macbook Air looked too good but was too limited for me. Hope they make a really beautiful Macbook Pro, beating the Air!

I dont care about making it thinner. Its thin enough as it is.

Can we get one that doesn't have any overheating issues? You guys keep wanting thinner but they are having a hard enough time as it is properly cooling what they have in there.

Ill take the same body style with a retina display and a proper thermal paste job :apple:
