I'm done with this phone. My second RMA also has the same problem. I discovered that when I'm on speaker during a call, it's especially noticeable.

So those with Nexus 4's, next time you're on a call, try it on speaker and talk for a bit. See if the other person says you sound choppy or not.

I thoroughly tested it this time, calling multiple people TWICE. Once with the Nexus 4, and once with my father's phone which is on the same network, just different line. Nexus 4 results: choppiness. Father's phone: crystal clear. This was true with all three people I called. It isn't Tmobile. (Again, I never had this issue on Tmobile with the Galaxy Nexus).

Also, people on the other end said when I'm not on speaker, the call quality is better (ie. less choppy). When I'm on speaker, however, it's dreadfully choppy. It can only be the microphone on the Nexus 4.

That closes the chapter of my Nexus 4 ownership. Time to look elsewhere. I called Google, and to their credit, they were extremely understanding and patient and offered me a full refund, restocking fee waived.

I will never trust another LG phone again.

After ownership of a nexus 4, I will never buy an LG anything haha (ok maybe a fridge). Amazing how one bad product can turn you off.

Sadly, this is the case. I wanted to and tried to keep this device. Either I'm unlucky enough to get three duds (two of them in a row), or there are Nexus' out there that were produced poorly. The latter is most likely since I'm not the only one experiencing call quality and microphone issues.

And if we add the people with spontaneous shattering glass, or with constant earpiece buzzing (all three devices of mine had constant earpiece buzzing, too, though this didn't bother me as much), it paints LG as unreliable.

You said so yourself, a phone should get phone calls right, first and foremost.

Personally, I look forward to an LTE world. In exchange for LTE, we were promised insane battery life. This promise wasn't delivered; even after 4.2.2, the battery life improved only moderately.

Went to Tmobile to pick up a SIM card to activate an old phone, and the rep, after checking my account, asked me what happened to my Nexus 4. I told him about why I returned it, and he said many people had to exchange/return their Nexus 4's to Tmobile because of the same issue. He said he has trouble hearing his manager who owns a Nexus 4, too, sometimes. His description? The call goes in and out (aka is choppy).

Those of you who don't have the issue, lucky you, but it is real.

PS. My phone calls are fine now.

No issues with my N4 so far, but I've only had it for 2 days. Call quality is good so can't really complain anything about that. But then again I mostly text/email so voice is not a primary concern for me. In fact the N4 sounds louder and clearer over Bluetooth in my car than the iPhone 4S/5 that it replaced.

The HTC One is a extremely attractive phone, but until HTC can get their battery issues figured out I'm staying clear. Reviews I've read have already pointed out to questionable battery life.

I may be wrong, but wouldn't that have nothing to do with sound over bluetooth? You may be imagining things. With all of the phones I have had, they all sound the exact same through my car's bluetooth. I thought that would be the case since that is what it depends on and does not use my phones speakers

It's a bit strange to me as well, since Bluetooth volume is adjusted to max on both devices. Voice volume scared the crap out of me yesterday since the volume on my head unit was turned up at around level 21 since thats what I need to hear people loud/clear over the cars speakers when my 4S/5 is connected.

With the N4 I had to turn my head unit volume down to around 15 because at 21 it was like someone screaming into your ears (in this case my GF calling me to tell me our dog took a **** in my computer room).

Might not have anything to do with the devices, but perhaps the stupid German engineering in my car.

haha, I can imagine that scare when someone first starts talking. What kind of car do you have? Volkswagen?

Anyone else content with their Nexus 4 even after the release of the HTC One and Galaxy S4? If I were going to pick between them I'd probably go for the One.

If I were to choose today, I'd probably go for the One too.

As for the Nexus, I'm more than happy with it still. We seem to have hit a ceiling of what a smartphone can do an only more pixels, megapixels, ram and data speeds are the new big advancements.

Nothing new to tempt me away from waiting for the next Nexus just yet. :D

As chaz said I'm quite happy with the nexus .. only hardware improvement I'd like is camera. Everything else is software based for me.... Bring on klp!

Anyone else have a Dbrand back?

If not... BUY ONE FREAKING RIGHT NOW!!!

Honestly its quite a good product. High quality and looks great!

Sorry about my messed up alien looking fingers. I would blame the weird angle but I really just didn't care about getting a better one :p

I'm very content with my Nexus 4. I am sorry but non stock phones look ugly as sin software side. I just watched Anandtechs hands on with the GSIV and it made me want to barf. That thing looks like Android circa 2010. Plus the features were lagging all over because of bloated TouchWiz. HTC sense is just as bad and HTC never does multitasking right. They removed the dedicated multitasking button, what are they nuts? I will stick with my pure android experience and will be super happy to get KLP the minute it comes out.

I am perfectly happy with my Nexus 4. It does everything I want from a phone exceptionally well. The S4 Pro and 2gb of RAM will serve me for quite awhile. The screen is also great. Colors are accurate, blacks are black and the 720p is nothing to scoff at on a 4.7 inch screen. Everything I've thrown at it has run well with no lag, videos look great and apps run well.

After primarily using iOS for 4 years (still use it every day) the freedom of running android primarily is a breath of fresh air. Lag? Pfffft! None to speak of. Viruses? Zilch. Lack of apps? Please.....No icloud? No problem. Google services work seamlessly and best of all is platform agnostic. My google calendars can sync across all of my devices, both android and iOS. Download a song in itunes and it's on my phone instantly thanks to google music. I couldn't be happier.

The only thing that appeals to me about the One is the design and the 4.7 inch 1080p screen. I can pass on the rest.

Yeah these new phones in the One and S4 are cool, and better than my Nexus 4, but not night and day. Mainly the 1080p screens being the biggest update.

But I am more happy in knowing I'll get Android 5.0 KLP immediately.

Good luck seeing 5.0 anytime soon on the One or S4, plus they won't get stock 5.0 anyways, will have to be Sense with Key Lime Pie, and Touchwiz with Key Lime Pie, yuck screw that.

Anyone else still having issues with Bluetooth not turning on? You would think they would have fixed it by now, but no dice, I still have to reboot it to "fix" the Bluetooth. It's getting on my damn nerves.

Is it happening on other devices running Jelly Bean?

Battery it still pretty poor. Can't even have the screen on for more than 3 and a half hours :/
