Did a factory reset, still dropping out. And i know its not my router because every other device in this house (and there are many) have zero issues.

I guess my time with the Nexus 4 is going to end soon.

Certainly looks like it is the fault of the Nexus, shame really, I quite enjoy mine but if it kept dropping wifi I wouldn't keep it. :)

Ive never had any issues with mine regarding wifi, fwiw im not a big wifi user on my phones anyway.

I really would like to use the nexus 4 without a case, but I don't want to drop it and bust up the screen. Is there something minimal that you can put on the nexus that could save it from drops?

Never had an issue on my N4 either. Now my Note 2? It does that on one wifi router--mine. Ugh.

Its been weird and annoying. First it wouldn't even connect or see the SSID. Then I did a reset and hey presto it saw the network and connected. Then it started randomly dropping off. Reset again but no dice.

There's also another weird bug where the phone simply refuses to download playlists from Google Play saying I don't have enough space even though I have 12GB free (more than enough). Hence I have to stream everything which doesn't always work as an everyday subway user.

Shame really it was starting to grow on me. But sorry Google/LG, I need reliable WiFi and local music options.

Have you try flashing the phone with the image on google site ? Wont hurt to try, on Mac is very easy to fastboot the files with terminal.

Will read up on it and if its not too complicated i'll give it a go.

That is one thing I have to hand to Apple and iOS. You don't need to "read up on" something that should be a basic feature (reinstalling the firmware). Plug it in, go to iTunes, click "Restore," boom it's done.

In unrelated news, hell just froze over ;)

I jest.

Indeed Google should come up with a similar approach, also more backup options (icon placement etc).

+1

you can get the official bumper from the play store. It looks pretty thin and non-obtrusive. I know a few people on these forums could answer better since they personally own one of the cases.

I have the bumper, and agree, it is as you say, "thin and obtrusive" it does (IMHO) completely change the look of the phone though, to my eyes it looks chunkier and doesn't add anything visually, it does the job as intended. I must admit that I prefer it without and most times don't use the bumper. :)

Indeed just reading up on it on XDA and it seems quite arduous.

You have to download drivers, then download the stock rom, then unpack, then type several terminal commands etc

TBH, one shouldn't need to jump through hoops to get one's phone b****y working. That is the job of the company that sells the phone. Touch wood, my N4 has been fine but I would be p****d off in your position. If you are anything like me, and something like this happens, it takes an awful lot for me to be confident in the device to get another one, most times TBH, I don't. Good luck on getting a new phone, whatever the make. :)

So flashing a nexus back to factory is harder than a skinned phone? Wow. Good thing i didn't flash it then lol.

Flashing S3 back to factory was a piece of cake. Simply fire up ODIN, download ROM, choose it, press start and let it do the job.

One reason why i love flashing samsung phones since the captivate. ODIN is brilliant and much more painless than terminal stuff.

Ordered my replacement on the 9th, Arrived today that was unexpected looks like a brand new phone packaged the same way the Original was, doesn't look like a refurbished one but looks can be deceiving, Phone customer service was sucky the lady who handled my call was clueless lol and not professional but at the end my order was submitted , fast service but they need to hire Phone/Tech savy employees

Yup. I dont have a Windows computer so i think I'm just going to RMA the phone and move on.

Flashing a Nexus 4 back to stock is dirt easy....A monkey could do it.

Just download one of the two nexus 4 toolkits. No terminal commands needed.

Anybody been able to get push notifications with the tapatalk app on the nexus 4? I think I have my settings right. On my iPhone 5 every time someone would quote me I would get a notification.

For some reason i couldnt enjoy tapatalk on Android but push notification didnt seem to work properly with some forums, try looking in the settings if everything is correct.
