we all hope you meant the phone.....

camera comparison N5 vs 5S

In short, both are comparable. Only one is half the price of the other.

The Verge review is strangely off. Given that their battery results were also all over the place, is it possible they had a bad unit?

If that video is anything to go by, and I don't see why it wouldn't be, the Verge grade of 5 seems quite exagerrated.

The mic also sounded way better on the Nexus 5.

After having 4.4 on my Nexus 4 for a couple of days and 2 battery cycles, I tested out how much battery life I could get out of it.
This did include 3G/HSPA+ use out in town (I don't have LTE here), Wifi at home (so very stable connection), lots of web surfing/Chrome use, lots of Google+ and of course playing music via BT in my car.
It looks to me like Android 4.4 KitKat has done some major under the hood tweaking that will help in both speed and battery life of "older" phones. (While I am rooted, this is the stock 4.4 OS and kernel. No modifications done).
I consider this a pretty big improvement, at least on my Nexus 4! This is more than I ever got before on 4.3 by more than an hour of on screen time!

I find it funny that he tests auto focus by jumping to different objects that all stay about the same distance from the camera...

That, I think, is the sorest spot for the Nexus 5 in the video. The blurriness that occurs when he moves the camera makes me wonder if that OIS is any good.

I ordered my N5 on Friday morning at 1:15am EST with shipping estimates of 3-4 weeks.

Guess what!!!! I just got shipping confirmation!!!
WOOHOOO!!!

Wow. I ordered two day shipping since it was $3 or $4 more. Just checked UPS - it left Kentucky today (i'm in NJ FYI) and was originally scheduled for delivery on Wednesday evening, but my two day shipping bumped it up to tomorrow!!!!!

The point I was making is that to actually test autofocus, you have to focus between objects at different distances. He moves the camera so that the objects are at relatively the same distance from the camera, meaning the autofocus doesn't have to do anything, thus there is no real test of the autofocus.

The blurriness you are talking about is mainly in relation to how long the shutter is open. The shutter is open for as long as possible (likely 1/30th of a second) to make the image as bright as possible and capture as much light. Having that long of a shutter speed allows for more motion blur per frame.

Yup, I know.

Ah, interesting.

Yup, it is trying to capture more light, but sacrificing FPS

Maybe he should have been taking pictures of his buddies drinking or his dog rubbing his butt across the carpet or something to get that 5/10 score.

This is a great quote from a YouTube commenter:

"It's 50% of the price of it's main competitors, yet seems to be 90% as good as them."

Two things seem consistent in reviews:

Camera needs to be quicker. And the speakers are relatively poor.
