I just got this case and I really like this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FZ14E3S/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It has a soft matte feel to it, but its made out of a flexible TPU material. It is very minimalistic and the button presses still feel nice. It barely adds any bulk to the phone. Definitely not as much as the Spigen Neo Hybrid or Ultra Hybrid. The back conforms to the curvature of the phone, unlike the Spigen Neo and Ultra Hybrid cases. And the cutout for the Micro USB port is big enough to allow me to use my Anker Astro Slim3 with it without taking off the case. Overall I am very happy with it.

One thing to note, the first picture on Amazon is a little deceptive. The texture on that picture makes it looks like it is almost a hard plastic case. In normal lighting, the back of mine looks just like the back of my Nexus 5. It also feels very similar. For those still waiting on their phone or those who have theirs and don't have a case yet, I definitely recommend this one.

Do you have a screen protector on your phone? If you do does this case lift it at all?

Hmm, not looking great for the N5's camera:
http://gizmodo.com/nexus-5-camera-battle-welcome-to-photography-google-1463156380

They didn't use HDR mode though. They also left out the major achilles heel, which is the turtle slow auto focus. It's one thing to do a review with static images, I wish more of these review sites would photograph people.

It doesn't look that bad. I want the best camera quality, and it looks like the iPhone will always provide that. The Nexus 4 camera was atrocious, but the one on the Nexus 5 looks acceptable. At this point, it's really just nitpicking the minor details.

But I agree that Google needs to step up their game. I love how the iPhone is always head of the game in terms of camera quality. If only the Nexus could go toe-to-toe with the 5s, but it's not a bad effort.

The Nexus 5 takes forever to open the app, focus, and actually take a picture. I wouldn't call that nitpicking.

Yeah I agree, the pictures look quite acceptable for a phone camera. But for me the biggest turn off is the auto focus, it means I miss a lot of opportunities to take pics of my daughter and that's unacceptable. I have high hopes though, some hacked camera apps for the G2 largely improved it's slow auto focus so I am hoping that in the N5 it will be a software fix from Google. Fix the auto focus and I would be happy, even if the pics are a bit below the other phones quality.

Hopefully Google is being honest in saying that all these issues can be resolved via software update.

Just got off the phone with T-Mobile, such a pain to return the iP5S and get a Nexus 5. Guess I will just keep the iP5S and swap in 6 months with my JUMP program.

The S4 for me is overhyped AND it's expensive. But I don't disagree with you, if Google pushed the speaker and camera they would have taken away any any doubt in my mind. I am using my ip5s every day now, and my N5 sits at home collecting dust, I keep it as a backup phone, but I do highly miss the screen.

You will like the G2, but find it has some of the same problems like a crappy speaker. The camera also shares the problem of a very slow auto focus, which really is the N5's main problem. I'm also hoping Google will address some things with a software update, the one for the MotoX did wonders for the camera complaints it had.

I'm sticking with what I'm happiest with, the S4. I don't think it's overhyped. Overpriced, I'll agree with you there ;) Frankly it's the most well rounded Android for me at the moment. Screen is great (just not in direct sunlight) and sound quality is 2nd to the HTC One and the camera offers so many options that it fits almost any photography need I have.

Flagship devices give you a richer set of features and better hardware but at the cost of a 2 year contract or almost twice the price.

As much as I love my Note 3, I'm strongly considering keeping the Nexus as my main device and wait for the next wave of phones in 2014.

I got the Nexus 5 and gave it a week but the camera/speaker issues meant I'm now sending it back to Google. Calling them "issues" seems a bit harsh, maybe...

But just got the S4 for a great price and yeah, after a couple of days I can tell it's more "me" really. I prefer the Stock Android experience on the Nexus 5 generally but I'm modding the S4 to get pretty close to it.

The S4 is a really great phone (especially for the price I paid!).

I agree with you. If I could get an s4 for the same price, I probably would. I just have a hard time buying phones used and from craigslist. You can only determine so much from a phone in a few minutes...it could have water damage or something else wrong.

The S4 would have been the perfect phone for me if it didn't overheat.

I never thought that this would happen but I'm having a hard time finding a reason to keep the nexus 5. What's happening is that every time I go to do something I reach for my iPad rMini. I don't reach for my N5 or my iPhone. This goes for pretty much anything from music to browsing to messaging etc.

The only cons that I have for the N5 is that it feels just a little cheap. Not bad by any means but just compared to aluminum obviously there's a difference and the buttons rattle. The other con would be the screen seems a little yellow. Also google has improved but still not completely fixed pinch to zoom in chrome.

But all of these are super minor and I don't think on their own would make me return the phone. It's the fact that the rMini is so portable that it goes with me every where and the bigger screen and tablet apps really make for a great experience.

Is my reasoning crazy here?

Not crazy at all, why don't you try a phablet? It sounds like that may be the best option for you

I did! In fact, ended up getting 2 from eBay in barely used - and it turns out, 100% perfect - condition.

Both were less than what I paid for the Nexus 5. One dark, one white. Really happy.

Obviously I scouted the eBay sellers as thoroughly as poss - 100% feedback etc - and yeah, it's all worked out very well. I've been ok with buying/selling phones on eBay.

Yesterday I rang Google to send the Nexus 5 back. I'll miss KitKat but not the camera/speakers - I like taking pics and listen to music all the live long day.

It kinda sounds like you need a Note 3 or equivalent. Try it out!

Yeah I agree, it's not overhyped but more like overpriced. It is a nice phone, a bit plasticky for me but still a great screen and a work horse. My issues with it are the same as with any Android phone, just a lot of fundamental stupid stuff that Google refuses to polish which take away from the "phone" experience. That's the main reason I keep finding myself going back to iOS even with their crappy hardware.

Man I am the complete opposite. I love the apple hardware in my iPhone 5S, the camera, dual flash, the color, the touch id, the metal/solid body, the 64bit cpu, but I hate iOS. I much prefer Android OS.

Wish I hack Android OS onto this phone, haha.

I shouldn't make generalizations. The hardware on the iphone is superb, the camera is awesome, the specs are great. I say crappy hardware mainly in reference to the tiny screen, which I despise.

But for OS, man every day I discover some little turd that Google didn't polish on Android that makes using it as a phone harder and more annoying. I love Android though, don't get me wrong, it's just the wrong OS to be using when you need to get very fast paced "phone" work done.

Maybe its the "honeymoon" phase? I mean at the end of the day, one is a phone and the other is a tablet.

So the more fair comparison would be, if you didn't have your retina mini around and had to reach for a phone, would it be the iPhone or nexus.

What would be an example? I just know for me personally I can be more productive using an android phone for 1 simple reason, an actual file system.

Hmm idk. Too big to be a phone and too small to really tablet optimized apps? I'm going to keep trying them both for a while.

Btw the nexus 5 is really nice. I've been very impressed.

If I could get androids notification management on iOS I'd be so happy. It's ridiculous that Apple leaves it to the app developer to change the notification sound for an app and to clear a notification out of the notification center when going into the app.

Agreed. Good point. I guess I'm not entirely sure. However, I'm trying to be a responsible grown up (ugh) lol and only buy one device right now.

My reasoning is similar to yours, except I'm using an original iPad mini.

I've asked myself the same questions as I would like to find "just the right" mobile device for me. An ongoing search :)

Still really jealous you got your Nexus 5 so early......grrrrr

On the other hand, I'm really enjoying my retina iPad mini! Screen, while not the most accurate, is SUPER SHARP. Loving the speed of the thing too.

Nexus 5 get here now!!! :p

Yeah, not sure how it happened!

Good luck putting that mini down when the nexus shows up. I'm not using it for anything and that is going to make me send it back and just use my iPhone the rare times i don't have my mini.
