Am I stupid to return my iPhone 5S for a Nexus 5?

I really miss Android OS and would prefer vanilla Google without needing to root.

I would keep the iPhone and sell it. Then you can buy the nexus 5 with the process and make up the initial cost of the iPhone on contact. Win win.

Nope. Not crazy. However, if you aren't going to be using that iPhone I'd return it instead of selling it. You will get out of that two your contract so that you will be free to try the next big android thing that comes out in ohhhh 3 months. ;-)

OK, I think I'm just about sold on the Nexus 5. I like to keep everything in the same ecosystem (Apple), but the Nexus 5 might be worth it. I'm currently in a bind as I need a smartphone since I'm traveling/moving abroad, but extending my contract with Verizon at this point is definitely not a good idea. So I'm stuck paying full-price for the iPhone 5s, or getting the Nexus 5 at half the price.

I followed the Nexus 4 up to release, but never jumped. Now, though, the Nexus 5 looks incredible. My initial concern was that the 5s supported more GSM/LTE bands, but after doing some research it won't really make a difference.

I just know I definitely need a phone that will work where I'm going, and I've always liked Android. I've read that it's actually pretty easy to sync with a Mac. And $399 for 32GB is amazing.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to purchase. Dropping $749/$849 on an iPhone gives me pause, and I just might have a better experience with the Nexus.

Hey guys! Wanted to know if you guys have noticed a loose power button? It rattles when I am tapping away around the upper right corner. It seems to be an issue I am hearing all over. However, If any of you are experiencing it what is your game plan? I initially was going to just email google and have it replaced. Then I thought that I would probably be going a couple weeks without a phone? So let's say that I did not replace it now, instead kept the loose home button and in three months it got worse, could I still get it replaced?

The good thing is that google will send you a replacement before you have to send yours back. I have noticed the loose power but as well. Especially when it vibrates. Yes, after 3 months you can still get replacement. The warranty is for one year. However, I honestly don't think any replacement will be better. It's just how the phone is made. Just a guess. I could be wrong.

They send me a new one before I send mine in? That's awesome. Also that is what I was thinking. I saw numerous people complaning. I suppose I'll deal and if it gets worse exchange it. Thanks man!

Yep. If you got it from Google then they will send a new one right away. Welcome!

I just wiggled mine and it may be a little loose, but nothing more than any other phone I have used. I do not use vibrate, so cannot comment on that aspect.

I have the same issue. However, I am going to wait to ask for a replacement. My plan was to wait a couple months until they have ironed out all the kinks in the manufacturing process. The slightly loose button doesn't affect me very much and other than that my phone is perfect.

I am not in any contract with the iPhone. I got it through T-Mobiles EIP and Jump program. I could just pay off the balance, sell it, and then buy Nexus.

But I don't think I want the hassle since I am still in my return policy.

I sold off my nexus 5 yesterday. By far the most overhyped/ overrrated device I've used yet. It's nice but really is nothing special aside from the pricepoint it comes with. Going back to either my S4 or I may give the G2 a spin.

crazy how different people can feel about the same phone. It is the best phone I have ever used and I previously have used the iphone 5, HTC one, and s4

What were you expecting though? It's a vanilla android phone. It's suppose to be basic and straight to the point. It isn't suppose to have all the flashy features of the Samsung or Moto devices.

Which is the exact reason I want it.

Here here! Really couldn't stand the Samsung software as a whole. What a mess of random UIs and menus.....and all those "features" were all OFF for me....

Looking forward to the pure simplicity of the Nexus 5. I won't stray from the Nexus line and those timely updates ever again!

(until I do....:D)

I was more let down by the hardware than the software to be honest. The speaker issues & mediocre camera were two things that just drove me over the edge. It just wasn't my cup of tea I guess it's fair to say.

Agreed, just didn't do it for me the way that the S4 does. Good things there's enough phones for everyones taste!

Well you've inspired me to follow your exact route! I'll wait the couple months before I get a replacement!

The S4 for me is overhyped AND it's expensive. But I don't disagree with you, if Google pushed the speaker and camera they would have taken away any any doubt in my mind. I am using my ip5s every day now, and my N5 sits at home collecting dust, I keep it as a backup phone, but I do highly miss the screen.

You will like the G2, but find it has some of the same problems like a crappy speaker. The camera also shares the problem of a very slow auto focus, which really is the N5's main problem. I'm also hoping Google will address some things with a software update, the one for the MotoX did wonders for the camera complaints it had.

I just got this case and I really like this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FZ14E3S/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It has a soft matte feel to it, but its made out of a flexible TPU material. It is very minimalistic and the button presses still feel nice. It barely adds any bulk to the phone. Definitely not as much as the Spigen Neo Hybrid or Ultra Hybrid. The back conforms to the curvature of the phone, unlike the Spigen Neo and Ultra Hybrid cases. And the cutout for the Micro USB port is big enough to allow me to use my Anker Astro Slim3 with it without taking off the case. Overall I am very happy with it.

One thing to note, the first picture on Amazon is a little deceptive. The texture on that picture makes it looks like it is almost a hard plastic case. In normal lighting, the back of mine looks just like the back of my Nexus 5. It also feels very similar. For those still waiting on their phone or those who have theirs and don't have a case yet, I definitely recommend this one.

Good thing phone camera is not a deal breaker for me. Only thing I use the camera for is taking random pictures of something I might funny to send to a friend.

Got a real camera for anything that I actually want to last and look good.

Judging by the comments in that article, I guess leaving HDR+ on makes the camera a lot better, but also slower. Would love to see some HD+ pics to make some judgement.
