Yeah, not sure how it happened!

Good luck putting that mini down when the nexus shows up. I'm not using it for anything and that is going to make me send it back and just use my iPhone the rare times i don't have my mini.

I have both a work phone line and personal phone line so I'll keep both phones as my family, friends and other personal details all have my personal phone number.

But ya - really, it'll be my iPhone that won't be used much. I'll switch on the hotspot feature on the N5 and go to town on the rMini! I considered the Air, but the mini form factor is just too good.

I will say - after a year of trying out various Android phones and the fact that the rMini has solved my two gripes with the 1st gen, I'm pretty much set device-wise for a while. Don't see picking up anything new, except maybe a Kindle paperwhite, for quite some time. Perhaps a larger iPad next year to techie house things and a new iPhone. I'm pretty much sold on the Nexus line for Android.

What would be an example? I just know for me personally I can be more productive using an android phone for 1 simple reason, an actual file system.

Just stupid little things that I've probably already stated many times. Making everything an internet search so half the time I say "call mario" I get an internet search for super mario bros. Inability to get Google Now to work with a bluetooth headset button. Significantly different volumes thru bluetooth in notification chimes and voice volume, resulting in low voice volume and ear numbingly loud chimes. Having to click on a tiny confirmation when doing things over voice like reminders or making calls. Just a very very few off the top of my head, but it seems like I run into weirdly unpolished stuff like this all the time. It makes me wonder if anyone over there actually uses Android phones at times.

easily my biggest pet peeve.

easily my biggest pet peeve.

Lol, yeah. I'm not nitpicking either, it's a significant difference. The chimes are freakin seriously painful. Just making a call, you get one chime to start, then a confirmation chime after you say the name. I gave up last night before I got ear damage.

I shouldn't make generalizations. The hardware on the iphone is superb, the camera is awesome, the specs are great. I say crappy hardware mainly in reference to the tiny screen, which I despise.

But for OS, man every day I discover some little turd that Google didn't polish on Android that makes using it as a phone harder and more annoying. I love Android though, don't get me wrong, it's just the wrong OS to be using when you need to get very fast paced "phone" work done.

I am not trying to start anything, but have you used iOS 7? Talk about somethings not very well thought out things:

1. This is by far my biggest problem with iOS 7. So on my iPhone 5 I like to make playlist on the go. I like to select whole albums at a time. In iOS 6 that was no issue at all, but iOS 7. No dice. Why can't I select a whole album, and not song by song? By far one of the stupidest things they did on iOS 7. I now go for Google play music way more often because I can select whole albums. This may sound dumb, but if you ever want a lot of different music have fun trying to add song after song.

2. Another huge deal. Before in iOS 6 you could rent a movie from itunes, and it would need to load for about 5 minutes and you were good to start watching before it got done downloading. Well those geniuses at Apple thought making people download the whole movie first would be a great idea. Why would they do that? We want streaming stuff. Not to have to download the movie. Why do they thing Netflix is so popular. I am giving up on Apple for watching movie. I will either use Google play store or Amazon.

Yes Apple added a lot of stuff to iOS 7 that it needed badly, but this has to be the most unpolished iOS I have ever seen. Yes I know my iPhone 5 is a year old now, but it should have no issues running iOS 7. Not the case. Frame rates drop all the time with unlocked animations, switching between home screens, and closing folders. I have never seen an OS like this from Apple. Don't get me wrong they took some huge steps forward, but in the process took some steps back that really hurt the over all experience.

My nexus 5 does not seem to drop frame rates, It is smooth to open and close a folder, I can add albums to play list, and I can rent a movie and start to watch it right away. I don't know, but it feels pretty polished to me.

this is also very true for me. Apple seems to release all of these betas and then a final version, which really seems like a beta still. Android gives me small updates occasionally, and usually for something that is not an issue. IOS 7 has been out of beta for 2 months? and they are on the 4th update to a final version b.c of bugs that should have been found in beta.

I guess some people look at it as keeping up with updates, but I look at it as releasing a buggy OS. Kitkat has not resulted in broken features for me.

I also find it funny that Apple fans always scream about how much better apps are, but I am having issues with apps crashing because they are not optimized for iOS 7. I know Apple is not to blame for developers not getting on the ball, but this is the same issue people complain about with android.

IOS 7 honestly does not feel as polished to me as KitKat. I am not android fanboy. I switch between both iOS and android, but I will not being going back to iOS until things change.

I haven't experienced any "broken features" - most of the "issues" that have been solved across new iOS 7 updates have been preferential stuff.

Is this thread really turning into a "this OS is more buggy than the other OS"?

Come on guys.....

How long has iOS 7 been out? Comparing a group of developers who haven't updated their apps to be fully iOS 7 compatible in a month or two versus Android apps that go years without (meaningful) updates? Apples to Oranges....

I honestly haven't had that many issues. A few crashes here or there - nothing major. Overall my 5S screams. Certainly not the constant buggy experience you're describing.

Anyhow - again, back on topic please? You can whine about iOS 7 in the iOS 7 threads.....we all know there are plenty of complaint threads.

Oh I am sorry, but the person I was quoting was talking about KitKat and how much better his iPhone 5s was running iOS 7. I was merely explaining that I had the reverse experience with iOS 7, and felt some of the features that I used on both it seemed android KitKat ran batter.

May I ask you the same question about KitKat. How long has it been out? In my experience ( and you can look this up anywhere) iOS 7 shutter even on the iPhone 5s. There are time my nexus 5 does, but that seems to be within chrome which is a problem. You can claim your iPhone 5s is blazing fast, and defend Apple to the bitter end, but iOS 7 has some issues that Apple needs to fix. I already listed two big one for me. These were two things that have nothing to do with iOS 7 being buggy. More of Apple choosing not to add stuff that makes no sense to me.

I'm not defending anything "to the bitter end". ALL technology has bugs - crashes, stutters etc. To say one is perfect and the other is terrible is nonsense.

I understand KitKat hasn't been out long. It's also on a grand total of 3 devices at this point. I can't speak to KitKat as my Nexus 5 has yet to arrive. I'm sure its quite stable and smooth.

But so is iOS 7 - on my iPhone 5S, my iPad mini retina and my wife's iPhone 5 and iPad mini. Sure there are minor bugs. But Apple should get credit for addressing those bugs so quickly! We get updates so fast and regularly, it puts Android's mess to shame (obviously aside from Nexus devices).

Could you imagine the outcry if Apple had delayed iOS 7? Also we are talking about a major overhaul update in iOS 7 versus what has been widely characterized as a minor one in KitKat.

People need to chill - about this and about the rMini's color gamut and all of it. There's this entitlement and lack of understanding that everything should be perfect! "I paid money for this so it should be 100% perfect all the time". That's unrealistic. Unfortunately for the tech industry, they brought a lot of it on themselves with such rapid growth over the last 6 years.

Do you realize that? SIX YEARS its been since the first iPhone and the smartphone boom. Do you remember BEFORE that? How about THREE YEARS since the iPad was released......that just blows my mind that these devices are so integral and necessary in our everyday lives after only having been around for just over half a decade.

Perspective helps calm you when you get frustrated about a bug. FWIW, 7.0.4 fixed some stability issues and the main problem I was having which was with iCloud keychain. Also being addressed by Safari updates on OS X Mavs. Not all OS updates are equal - some are easier to make stable in a year than others. But alas, consumers are set on this annual update cycle and anything else just won't do. So companies are pressed to pack more and more with less time and space to pack the features into.

How about how software and OS updates used to run.....lol Windows 95 to 2000, ME? XP to Vista was more than a year. How about the first Android updates? Did they all happen in annual increments? We're on 4.4 and its been the same 6 years roughly as iPhone and iOS - obviously some updates are bigger (and therefore more difficult to perfect) than others.

Time and patience my friend. Patience is a lost art these days. I'm guilty - we're all guilty. But patience and perspective lead to contentment - which is really ultimately what makes one happy.

You missed my point. At first I was mainly pointing out some areas of iOS 7 that Apple changed, and made it harder for me to do things I enjoy very much on my smartphone. Leaving out adding entire albums on a playlist has nothing to do with bugs and fixes. It has everything to do with Apple leaving it out. Making you download an entire rented movie is again something Apple made a choice to do. No bugs, and their will be no need for a fix.

The user I was quoting was talking about how much more productive he was on iOS. I merely wanted to disagree because I feel I am much more productive on KitKat. He also decided he wanted to talk about things Google refuse to fix. I wanted to point out some things that Apple does not address.

This has nothing to do with patience. It is all about user preference, and which OS gives you the features required to be productive. I felt like he took a shot at Kitkat, so I wanted to point out some issues Apple has. Neither OS is perfect, and neither will ever be. I just wanted to point that out. I have nothing against Apple. Just some of their users.

As we speak right now I'm trying to figure out that same issue for myself. I'm looking at a choice between a Nexus 5 and the iPhone 4S. Each has there own benefits and problems but I'm having an issue choosing one or the other. I feel like the messaging and calling experience is more polished, but obviously more limited on the iPhone. I also feel like the browsing experience is better on the iPhone.

The other real issue I have with the iPhone is the fact that I'm now on T-Mobile and the 4S doesn't have all of the correct bands so I'm lacking service in areas I would otherwise have it.

I don't disagree, I hate a lot of stuff in iOS7 as well. The white on off white scheme is atrocious, absolutely hideous and it is extremely non functional in a dark room, dark car, at night, etc. Try telling my wife how important that email is when I reading it and she's trying to sleep. The iOS7 calendar is the most horrible POS I've ever seen, it's truly non functional in monthly mode. Sure I have plenty of complaints even beyond those.

But when it comes down to it, to seriously making phone calls and having it do those kind of functions the iphone comes thru. Android comes thru also, but with those weird little unpolished turds that slow you down a bit, or frustrate you.

Gotcha - well then all I would say is, don't stoop to his/her level. Just because someone sends an unnecessary shot across your bow doesn't mean you need to respond in kind ;)

I wasn't talking about how much better iOS7 is that KitKat, not at all. It's definitely more complicated than that. If I wanted to make business calls all day, one handed while doing other stuff, etc. I would want my iphone without any hesitation. If I wanted to sit down with 2 hands and play music, browse the internet, play games, etc I would want Android hands down. This is why I have a N5 AND a ip5s, I can't decide between the 2.

But in terms of some of the turds I pointed out, IMO these should be first on the list of things Google should be polishing. For my uses I put phone calls, bluetooth headset use, etc higher on the list than multimedia, etc unless that's your profession. Just some of the stupid stuff that Android still does has me scratching my head.

Ok well I guess we disagree, but that is ok. I feel my nexus 5 does just as good a job as my iPhone 5 at those things, but really it does not matter.

Same, I'm not saying iOS is more productive universally, I'm saying it's more productive for how I use my phone. I also wasn't taking a shot at KitKat, I was describing where Google is missing the boat IMO in terms of how I use the phone. As I stated before, I love both OS.

Not everyone is a fanboy, and just because they don't like something they shouldn't automatically be classified as one.

Yeah it's all good. The N5 is an incredible phone, and Android is certainly an incredible OS. I just wished they actually had an engineer use an Android phone as a phone once in a while and report on any difficulty.

Sorry I was not calling you a fanboy. Sorry if it came off that way.

I'm a fanboy of everything, hehe. Sadly I have one of every OS in my house.

Flagship devices give you a richer set of features and better hardware but at the cost of a 2 year contract or almost twice the price

Not entirely true, most Android phones are only around $600, not $800. I was just comparing the Nexus 5 at Best Buy yesterday with my HTC One. The 32GB N5 is $400. The 32GB One is $150 right now with contract and only $550 off contract. I think quite a lot of people wouldn't mind the contract or would pay the $150 extra for the One. The One has better build quality, display, speakers, UI, no on screen buttons and it comes with some solid headphones/earbuds. The only advantage I could find with the N5 was the Snapdragon 800 vs the 600 in my One, but thats just on paper. Launching apps, loading websites, streaming movies all were done about the same speed on both phones. I think the only real advantage with the N5 is for someone who wants stock Android, but then again, you can root and get stock Android on the One as well.

I think I'm going to give up waiting for uk release of Moto X and go for the Nexus 5. I had a play with one today and it was nice. Probably a bit too big but I'll get used to it.
