I love how the nav buttons and the status bar now sort of bleed into the OS. Things seem to go "under" the nav bar. Interesting.

Any word if stock Android will allow more control on home screens, dock, folder etc? Those are the main reasons I use Nova

Did anyone else notice that there was an event for the Nexus 5 and 4.4 in San Francisco for the media today? That was a well-kept secret.

Man, looks awesome. I'm still smartphone-less, but will need to buy one by the summer as I'm going on extensive travel. I'm definitely not going to extend my Verizon contract at this point, so I'm stuck paying full-price.

Nexus 5 is incredibly tempting at $399.

Damn you guys. DAMN YOU GUYS !!!!! :D
Just ordered a 32gb in black, ships Nov 8. I love my G2, but man I got sick of those awful rear mounted buttons. I will miss the incredible battery life, but I'm always in the car or at work anyhow.

I was ABOUT to buy an iphone 5s and go back to ATT, but weighing spending $849 versus $399 the decision wasn't difficult. If Apple had a 5" screen then I would have stayed with them, but they don't so that's that.

Now to read tech specs and previews as I don't know much about the phone, hehe.

P.S. where is our old buddy Ken?!?!

That doesn't really specify either whether it's only in the home screen, does it?

If it can't be woken up like the MX, then Engadget's article on it is erroneous to the max. I mean, the article is flat out titled "You can wake up the Nexus 5 with voice commands, just like the Moto X."

If it really isn't Touchless to wake, it personally doesn't make or break the Nexus 5 or KitKat for me.

Welp:

"I’m happy to see an “always listening” feature as I use it on my Moto X many times a day. It’s not quite “always” though: The Nexus 5 has to be awake and not in an app. If it is, just say “OK Google” for a voice search or query."

Engadget messed up big time.

Hmm....

Some good impressions here: http://gigaom.com/2013/10/31/nexus-5-hands-on-looks-like-an-impressive-google-android-flagship/

There's hope:

Cameras are often the Achilles Heel of Nexus devices. I don’t think that’s the case this time. I’ve only taken a few images and one short video, but this is leaps and bounds better at image capture than any prior Nexus. The 8-megapixel sensor is quite good and you can zoom in for clear detail after the snap. Here are three quick images I took: One outdoors (it’s a dreary day), one inside close up and one inside low light. Open the outdoor image on another tab to zoom and you’ll see the camera maintains a good level of detail.

You said it, it was all planned...

Artem Russakovskii:
"I see the usual suspects (TheVerge, Engadget) and even BGR (ugh) got full access to the KitKat and Nexus 5 ahead of time under NDA/embargo.

The ironic part is that by not extending a similar offer to us which I was at first a bit miffed by, Google has effectively given us a green light to continue with the leaks until the announcement. You know what? I actually prefer it this way."

Thats disappointing

So happy this is coming to best buy. Now I can buy and return if necessary with no restocking few. And I can try it out in person before buying. Awesome.

Yeah, this has been a feature in many ROMs going back to 4.2. Def gives the screen a cleaner look.

This may be my first Android phone that I won't have to ROM. I will root it for Frameworks mods and Sixaxis controller use, but see no need for a ROM anymore. All the features are built in now!

I noticed that Google Play has removed any references to restocking fees on the Play Store, and I didn't have to pay a restocking fee on either of the Nexus 4s I returned, even though I was told I would be.
