Anyone else really disappointed in the nexus 5?

There was insane amount of hype about this phone. I remember people saying there might be a feature to activate google now through voice even when the phone was asleep.

It seems almost exactly the same as the nexus 4.

Really? 1080p screen, snapdragon 800, better camera, LTE... Only thing similar is the OS

Oh and probably much better speakers.

It is a fairly average update. In my mind, a bigger update than the 5 to 5s, but probably not as big as a 5s to a 6 will be. Somewhere in the middle.

For anyone disappointed in the 5, please show me a better value for the money off contract

I've never seen the scrolling lag, I'm actually looking for it right now on my G2. I think it must be one of those subtle things you really have to look for, but I'll be damned if I can find it. I'm not saying Android doesn't lag, it does, but it's usually not reproducible for me and is kind of random except in the dialer app, which is pretty much always.

It's too bad the full screen isn't universal. It doesn;'t bother me much as there is GMD auto hide soft keys and Nova launcher, but it's always nice to install less overhead.

It's not lag in the sense of dropping frames. Its that when you scroll really fast, the content doesn't follow along as quickly as it does on iOS.

And I am not a fan of pie controls, GMD, or anything so far that has attempted to get rid of on screen buttons. Nothing has offered a good enough user experience for my taste. This has the potential to do that, but too bad its left up to developers.

It's all catch up. Most people don't care about 1080p. Camera seems like software improvements, I expect it to be slightly better than the 4.

The main lag I see is that scrolling doesn't track with your finger as closely as it does on iOS. Also in Chrome pinch to zoom still requires your fingers to be spaced further apart before it starts zooming than it does on iOS, and that is annoying.

I don't ever recall IOS can ever scroll as fast as android. That's one of the most annoying features about ios.

Catch up? There is what... 2 phones with the snapdragon 800? The camera is totally different than the n4

That is scroll speed, not lag. Plus, iOS recognizes when you are scrolling multiple times and dynamically increase scroll speed. iOS scroll speed makes more sense for reading articles. Plus you have a one-tap to go straight to the top. I love my Nexus 4, but I actually prefer iOS scrolling. It is personal preference really. But the topic was about input lag.

I went back on the play store the 16 gb was available I click and it wouldn't let me order, I go back a page and refresh and it must of sold out in that 5 second span lol. It's probably better I ordered the black 32 I think 16gb wouldn't be enough space.
I'm pumped to finally have a android phone that isn't 2-3 OS iterations behind the current one

Watching the Live Vergecast and while mentioning the biggest concern about this device is whether the camera is any good, they are trying to take photos of each other and getting blurry photos every time, even 'with studio lighting' to quote them.

Cant be, I just saw a commercial showing spectacular photos in bad lighting!

I have to disagree, but I understand it's only opinion versus opinion. GMD auto hide nav bar is VERY solid. It's smooth, and functions well, is well put together with good options, etc. For me it has the benefit of having the nav bars, but not having them in the way. A tiny little swipe up and there is the nav bar.

There are also many options for hiding the status bar. You can set a gesture shortcut in GMD gestures for example. My favorite method is in Cyanogenmod where you actually get a small icon on the far left of your nav bar that hides or displays your status bar, it's instant, no lag or delay, it's impressive.

Pie controls I agree, I hate them and disable them every time I get a new phone.
