It wasn't The Verge itself, it was just the guy who reviewed it. He was very biased and a fanboy, The Verge could have at least gotten someone else to do it but it was just bad. I usually enjoy The Verge's reviews but this one was just the worst.

Oh I see, the video review was more negative sounding than the written. Didn't know they were the same guy actually :)

Can't wait to see what the battery life is.

Looks like even Hangouts on the Nexus 5 doesn't have a translucent nav bar....

Not every app will use it. There are definitely many apps that shouldn't use it to keep the buttons well seperated from the main content. They don't want to follow in the footsteps of iOS7 which has some major issues with giving contrast between content and controls.

Hmm....is SMS integration in Hangouts actually awesome? Can I get my friends on iOS to get Hangouts instead of Whatsapp and not have to use two messaging apps now? Is Hangouts as good as Whatsapp?

Anyone else really disappointed in the nexus 5?

There was insane amount of hype about this phone. I remember people saying there might be a feature to activate google now through voice even when the phone was asleep.

It seems almost exactly the same as the nexus 4.

There are zero surprises though in the negative. Not yet anyway. We knew everything about it. How can you be disappointed by just the announcement?

Of the reviews start sucking then I'd be disappointed!

They showed Google Maps with a translucent nav bar. No reason to not have it in hangouts.

It is a fairly average update. In my mind, a bigger update than the 5 to 5s, but probably not as big as a 5s to a 6 will be. Somewhere in the middle.

That's cause there's not much android phones can really add unless we start going into water proofing and all those really extra features.

IPhone 6 will be big I agree but mainly because there will be no other iPhone like it. That's not necessarily a good thing to say.

The main lag I see is that scrolling doesn't track with your finger as closely as it does on iOS. Also in Chrome pinch to zoom still requires your fingers to be spaced further apart before it starts zooming than it does on iOS, and that is annoying.

Yup. I'm all for it getting closer to one to one but what it is now is hardly as big of a deal as people make it out to be. Its ultimately negligible and imperceptible after a while.

There is a lot more this phone could have added. Larger battery and better camera being the most obvious. And of course having a water and dust resistant phone would be amazing.

Someone on XDA says that they just got a shipping email with a tracking number. It seems like they shipped pretty quickly last year too. Mine still says 11/8.

One person said it was ordered at 11:01. I assume they meant Pacific time. Since then several others have said they've also got shipping notifications with tracking numbers.

Google wallet says I ordered mine at 1:02 (Central obviously). But that is good news! Hopefully I'm not too far behind.
