On a slightly unrelated note, those of you who have ordered a Nexus 1 lately, how long did it take for the charge from Google to show up on your credit cards? I've had mine since the Monday after they released the AT&T version, and I have no charge on my account yet. I received the receipt from Google saying my payment had been made, but there is no record of it on my card, and no funds are missing. Does Google wait until the end of the month or anything? Seems unlikely, as every app that I buy through Google Checkout hits my card within an hour or so of purchasing it. Anyone have any clues as to why I'm not finding any sign of paying for this device?

I received mine one week ago today (last Tuesday). My credit card showed the charge around Thursday or Friday.
Strange that you don't see a charge yet.
Though I have had this happen a few times before on credit card charges, where they get delayed. But, eventually they always appear.

I am interested in knowing what happened? Didn't like Android, the phone or everything? Enlighten us:)

Yeah, I'm interested as well. I don't mind people having differing opinions from mine, and like to hear why they don't like something I do. Can you comment more on what you didn't like exactly?

Yup, very curious here, too, having just switched to Android.

Well, I have to say that I am happy to be back to my 3GS after spending 5 days with the Nexus One... It just didn't work out between us. Here is why:

Contacts
I like my contacts to be in groups. On the iPhone, it is very simple to switch between these groups. On the N1, it takes multiple steps and it gets to the point where I get irritated just going through my contact list.

Screen
The screen just does not have the same precision as the iPhone. For example, when I receive a new text message and press the Type to Compose box, I have to press that box multiple times to get the keyboard to pop up. Very annoying. Also, the bottom row of the keyboard is very inaccurate. Many people have already mentioned the issues with the soft touch keys, so I won't talk about it here.

Miscellaneous
I first thought that The General was ridiculous for mentioning the lack of the "rubber- banding" effect when scrolling lists, but I have come to realize that I actually love this feature. Not a deal breaker, by any means, but it is a useful feature that lets you know you are at the end of a list (no, I don't like to look at the scroll bars).

Lack of iTunes support is something I really miss. A lot of people do not like iTunes for some odd reason, but I have to say that when I was using the N1, I missed just being able to plug my iPhone in and let iTunes do its thing. None of this mounting USBs and drag and drop files onto an SD card crap. Call me lazy, but you cant argue how easy iTunes makes your life.

My car also has iPod/iPhone integration. Obviously, the N1 will not work and I would be forced to carry two devices instead of one.

Conclusion
Although, I enjoyed the excellent resolution of the screen along with the great notification system, they just weren't enough to win me over.

Well, I still have my Nexus 1. I like it better than the iPhone. The only thing I hate about the Nexus 1 is the music player. Nothing beats an iPod. And I'm still not good with the keyboard yet.

You should of tried doubleTwist. It will automatically sync music, videos, photos, and podcasts just like itunes (and can even use your iTunes library). Sure, you still have to "mount" the sd card, but the rest can be done automatically with doubletwist.

I ordered a Nexus One yesterday afternoon... should arrive tomorrow!

I'm ready for a change. I've been using my iPhone 3G since launch day and I'm itching to try something new for a little while. My plan: IF I like the Nexus One, sell my iPhone on Craigslist and keep the N1 until the EVO 4G and iPhone "whatever it is going to be called" comes out this summer... then make another phone purchasing decision! :D

It's best to just wait for the next iPhone before getting the Nexus 1. I know many that have switched back.

Something may look good on paper with a fast processor, multitasking, etc, but unless it's polished and intuitive, it's not going to work.

Are we allowed to post apps we love in this thread? I've had a few annoying phonecalls recently and installed Call Blocker for Android. It's an Awesome app from what I've tried. I've tested it on my Nexus One and it's just what I needed to stop these annoying {censored} people phoning me.

This app alone shows good reasoning for multitasking and being able to interact with the OS. :D

Problem is, it does work for some (and bloody well too!). Others opinions may vary but it suits me far more than my old iPhone 3G did. ;)

It all works well for me. I mean there is a little learning curve but its not nothing night and day. The thing about having a Open Source operating system is just how flexible it is and what not. To make it to your liking, yes you have to play with it or research a little but that is what makes it fun in my opinion:)

all nexus peeps out there iam going to order a nexus soon, but i have one question i have an iphone 3gs can i just switch out my sim card and put it in my nexus or do i need a new one. Would like to use both phones just switching out my sim card.

Yes you can use the same sim card. I am using the same sim card that I had in my 3GS.

You eventually will keep the SIM in the N1 and forget about your iphone lol Enjoy your new N1 its an amazing device.

The only gripe I have about the N1 is the sometimes spastic touch screen. If any part of your hand is unintentionally touching the screen (like if your palm is near the search key) it will sometimes think that you have your finger there. This will cause the phone to pinch-zoom when really you just want to scroll up/down.

And the keyboard. The iPhone has the best/smartest touch keyboard out there. I hope the next android update on the N1 updates the keyboard a bit.

Everything else about the phone is <3

I'm seriously thinking of getting the N1. I figure that selling my iPhone would offset the steep cost of the Nexus 1

I'm not going to tell you not to get the N1 because it really is a nice phone. At the same time, I'd rethink selling your iPhone to fund it. Chances are good that you'll regret it.

Well I just put some music onto my N1. I don't get why people hate the music player so much because it has all the options you really need plus you can add a widget to your homescreen(s) and control the music right from there :) (Although with the iPhone you could double click the home button and control from literally anywhere).

Anyways, I found a really awesome little thing that I didn't know before because I didn't have no music. Well you can easily choose any of your songs and make them your ringtone right from your phone. I was listening to a song and hit the menu button and it said make my ringtone, I hit it and boom, thats it. Also in the ringtone settings all your music files show up:).

Even better, there are apps in the Market that allow you to select what parts of your music you want to make as your ringtones or not. Its really nice and another neat little thing I found:cool:

Why?

I mean if I opt to go the Nexus route, I have little to no need to keep my iPhone. I'd probably order the phone and try it out (assuming that they have a money back guarantee).

I'm still weighing my options. If apple were to discuss what OS 4.0 will have and/or the next generation phone, I may consider staying. With that said the things that are drawing me to the android OS are things that are decidedly un-apple. The open OS, the ability to make changes, etc. The iPhone still does things better in some areas and I have to decide whether the strengths of the N1 are inline with my needs or if the iPhone's strengths are inline with my needs.

Well I have had the Nexus one for 2 days. Everything I said before is out the window because the battery life sucks for me. It's been off the charger for 6 hours and its down to 20% already with the wifi turned off and GPS and SYNC. I can't do this. And yes it is terrible to use outdoors and even when people say "thats why you turn the brightness up all the way" you shouldn't have to do that to see "outdoors. I miss the keyboard on the iPhone it surpasses anything else in the market. I realized I can go without multitasking since it's such a small device what is the multitasking really for ya know. I'm coming back to the 3GS trading someone back today for there 32GB.

If you have any questions about my experience feel free to ask away.

When you went off the charger you were at 100%? What happened during the time frame that it was off? That sounds really low battery life you are getting.

yes the battery life is not up to par at all with the iPhones I see others get good battery life and some horrible. My experience has been horrid. yes it was 100% when taken off I kept it on the charger throughout the night. I just surfed the web, checked twitter, email. Text and that's it. Just like my 3GS I would turn off wifi when not at home and GPS and there is a SYNC option for notifications which you can control to turn off and on and I had it turned off and that's what I got from it still. I was surprised that it was like this. My expectations were much higher.
