That initial charge did take painfully long.

It was realty hot at first because I was charging and using it at the same time. Its cooled down now and fully charged. I definitely feel like the keyboard takes some getting used to. Everything else is great though the browser is definitely quicker then the 3GS using the wifi connection I always use.
I am still debating on rooting

A couple pages back someone posted the link to an alternative keyboard taken from HTC. No rooting required. Maybe you'll like that one better. I tried both the standard Android keyboards (on a Moment) and the HTC one (on a Hero) and I definitely preferred the HTC keyboard.

Well much to even my surprise, I've decided to go back to my 3GS.

It really has nothing to do with the phone itself, but more with the apps available. There's really not much I use my iPhone for outside of email, todo list and checkbook. The Gmail integration on the N1 is fantastic and I really couldn't have asked for anything better but for the other two, everything I tried was just lacking.

I don't know how NONE of the to do apps in the android market support choosing which days a task will repeat on. It seems like such a basic function. And for my balance management, why can't I have categories? I don't want my checking account balances lumped in with my credit cards and savings accounts. It just doesn't make any sense.

The N1 keyboard works perfectly. I did notice that your finger presses have to be a little more precise and spaced and I never really did get used to it. The iPhone's keyboard is more enjoyable, IMO. As far as media management, I really don't understand why everybody's so negative about iTunes. It works great for me and I never did get around to putting music on the N1. The iPod on the 3GS works great and I paid good money to have the cable installed in my car. Having backups is nice too.

So really, those of you who don't rely on certain apps on your phone, the N1 really is a great device. The screen is gorgeous (I hated using it outside) and even without rooting it has a lot of potential. Since I rooted it and can't return it, I've decided to pass it on to my girlfriend who's still using her 1st gen iPhone. She's pretty thrilled, to say the least.

I understand what you mean about the to-do apps thing. It sucks that no one has made one that does what you are talking about. My work around on it is to use "Toodle Droid" syncing with ToodleDo. I just create the task in the on phone program, and since it syncs back to my free ToodleDo.com account, the next time I'm near my computer I can log on there and set it up as a reoccurring event on whatever days are necessary. It's a bit of a pain to have to do it this way, but I'm sure as the Android Market grows and more developers come to it, the apps will get better.

Whenever I am texting someone every now and then out of nowhere the screen will go to the homescreen. Why is that? I am not accidently pressing the home button either.

Your Messages app is crashing. Happens now and then with random apps.

I was saving pictures from the web based facebook and it crashed on me five or six times in a ten minute period.

Im stay'in

Earlier I posted that I was going to have to send back my Nexus One because of bluetooth trouble between it and my car (one-way audio). Turns out the trouble was caused by the fact that I had the N1 set to dial out using my Google Voice account. When I turned that off and let the phone dial out normally bluetooth works just fine :D
Whew! I can live without automatically using my GV account. That means I am keeping my N1 :p
I wasn't looking forward to going back to the 3GS.

The swype keyboard I couldn't deal with for some reason. I feel like its getting so hard for me to get used to this keyboard. A lot of missspelling and the auto correct doesn't seem to be on point like I thought it would be. How do you guys who switched to theN1 feel about the keyboard coming from an iPhone?

Ok seriously that is odd. I have had my N1 for a week and have only had 2 or 3 force closes. None of the default apps that came with the device have ever given me any problems.

I don't know which app I was on but I was on but I only have twitter apparently and regular texting app. Still don't know why this would happen butit hasn't happened since.

I never owned an iPhone but the HTC Desire (read: a supercharged Nexus One) will be in my hands soon. One sole reason for this switch is simply that I dont want to become another iPhone clone. lol @ rhyme.

I'll happily use my various iPods though!

I had the 3GS since when it first came out. It took a while to get used to the keyboard. On the N1 I feel the keyboard is about the same as the iPhone. In my opinion, anyone coming from an iPhone should have no trouble. I usually use the keyboard in landscape mode and I can use both thumbs. I find that I am getting to like the suggested list of words that appear above the keyboard as you type.

I think one of my favorite features (long list of them) was the haptic feedback on the N1.

Anybody know anything JB apps that work on the 3GS?

I'm torn between getting a Nexus One now or waiting a few months to see what the new iPhone will bring. I'm seriously tempted by the N! because I have Google voice.

hey everyone, the google site is down right now! could they be updating their store for the verizon model, perhaps? note: i deleted my email from the screenshot to preserve anonymity.

despite my anit-nexus one comments on this thread, this is why I haven't totally closed the book on the Nexus One. I'm considering trying one out when the verizon model comes with it's "mysterious updates". Perhaps they will include a more reliable touchscreen. If so, it would truely be a superphone that beats the current iphone for my purposes.

My actual real life experience took me down I-95 between southeast Pennsylvania and Orlando. While north of Richmond, Virginia and once in central Florida AT&T's 3G was generally faster than Verizon's 3G. In some places, such as downtown Kissimmee, a magnitude faster. However, the 700 or so miles in between was a different story. AT&T was either EDGE or it didn't exist at all while, with a single exception in South Carolina that lasted about 5 minutes, Verizon was the same speed, or nearly the same speed, that it is everywhere. I was easily able to watch the Canada & USA olympic hockey game on a netbook with a built-in Verizon modem using Slingplayer to connect to a box back home. At the same time, the iPhone on AT&T was timing out just trying to connect to my mail server.

So yeah, I wouldn't believe much of anything you read on this site. Remember, an "expert" is someone who travelled more than 50 miles and showed slides.

I just drove to florida and back and good god. the iphone was USELESS driving thru the southern states. Virginia, NC, SC, GA....all USELESS. 1 bar of edge if anything at all. Reception was spotty in fla. kept fluctuating between full coverage and no coverage. however service was great in delaware and maryland. I downloaded a 180mb file on my laptop which was tethered to my iphone via bluetooth via miwi in about 20 minutes. getting about 185kb/s i was impressed. then I hit the southernt states and was cursing AT&T

Instead of the Verizon version, give us the car dock :)

The Google Voice integration is awesome :). Every time I call someone I have it set to ask me if I want to call through my carrier or through Google Voice. Also the text message integration is no different then the default text messaging integration. It works perfectly.

Okay so this whole day I've been using the N1 I received in the mail. It's great, at first the keyboard was really getting on my nerves but the more you put it to use the easier it gets. As any phone I'm sure if your using it for the first time. The customization is the best part, I have been fallin more in love with the Widgets every time I look at them and use them. Beautiful widgets is a must, I didn't even know about that until a few hours later into digging into the "market". My eyes aren't fully adjusted to the screen yet I am so used to the iPhones screen that this still blows my mind whenever I look at it. The feel of the N1 is so much more solid feeling due to the extra weight of the device I really like it. Has a good balanced feel to it which surprised me since both ends of the phone are not shaped the same. The trackball is great with things you can't exactly get your finger on since the N1 doesn't have the magnifying glass like the iPhone.

I realized that google didn't really want to copy Apple on much so they replaced there own way of things in which Apple might do it another. I definitely like where they are going on the 1st gen of the Nexus. I'll be keeping this phone and lets see where they take it with updates and future Nexus phones. Maybe the 4th gen iPhone will blow this out of the water but honestly I don't see it happening  but it's okay the iphone is so stable that they don't need to really do all the tweaks that every other company or android has done. For now though, I'll definitely be using this. Change feels good :D
