Well, I've decided to keep my N1. I'm still learning tricks here and there, and once you get used to the few 'quirks' (don't know if that's the best word to use) it is really an enjoyable experience.

I kinda miss the push updates for FB, and I really wish I could do mms with GV so I could totally switch to that number, but I hear it's coming....

I'm intrigued by the idea of rooting, but am holding off for now.

Rooting is actually not hard. It requires more work than blackrain, but I have yet to know anyone who brick their phones. After rooting you can do whatever you want on the phone. :)

For anyone running the cyanogenmod....have you guys updated to the new 5.0.6 version? If you are already running cyanogenmod, download CM Updater in the marketplace. Once you have that, run that program and check for updates. It'll tell you that the new version is available, and will download it for you. Then will give you the option to restart and install the update for you. Very slick update system. You can view the change log for the new update before you install it. It adds a few tweaks like improved 3G speed/connections, but most importantly, adds auto rotation to landscape mode on the home screens! I love this feature! All the widgets autocorrect their size/layout to the landscape orientation when the device is turned, just like they do on the Droid when the keyboard is slid out while viewing the home screen. Very nice update for the cyanogenmod.

Love the 5.0.6 update. I disabled the auto rotation but the battery life improves significantly after the update. I also love the cyanogemmod live wallpaper (Nexus, then setting).

Bummer... This new phone ALSO had touchscreen issues today. It just goes crazy and starts giving incorrect responses to your touches.

I am back on the fence about the phone. Also, the fact that Google has officially stopped looking into the 3g issues that effect even more people than the touchscreen issues really makes me hesitant to fork over $530 for this phone.

I think I'm definitely going with Android over the iphone OS, but hopefully there will be a manufacturer that gets the whole thing right.

Actually, the ideal solution is an iphone that can run android - now there is a killer machine!

I'm not sure how you are with Verizon but it seems the Droid Incredible screen beats the Nexus One's hands down.

I also tried the multi-touch test and I get the same results as he did for my Nexus. I have been reading that they both have the same screen hardware wise and that it is a software bug which Google will address soon. Although I never noticed a problem when using pinch to zoom, nice to know that info.

The Incredible looks awesome though (essential a N1 with a better camera and a optical trackball) but not being able to use voice and data at the same time is a HUGE deal breaker for me, which is why I will probably never go Verizon/Sprint until their 4G/LTE networks allow you to do so.

I keep flipping back and forth between the 3GS and the N1. I have found apps on the N1 that I really like, so it keeps drawing me back. Have had the same issues on the touch screen as you mention. Put a silicone cover on the phone and they went away. There are a number of threads here about being careful about how you hold this phone. The screen is ultra sensitive and it is easy to touch it with the hand holding it.

I am on AT&T and have had no 3G issues, this phone has better reception than my 3GS. AT&T service in my area is either great or sucks. Depends on the day. I drop more calls on my 3GS than the N1.

Yup. I'm just about ready to jump on. Might put the order in tomorrow. Not waiting any longer for Apple to go outside of the AT&T trap. Perhaps in two years from now there will be an unlocked iphone on the market. Too much other good stuff out there now to keep waiting around for the unknown. My only gripe is that I like the N1 look better, but I think I can get over that pretty quickly.

I own an n1 and prefer it over the incredible... but that being said you need to do some research before you speak.

The incredible uses a different touch panel than the nexus.... a better one.

Haven't had time to read through this thread since I've last posted, but I must recommend to anyone that hates the stock N1 keyboard (as I came to) to download smart keyboard from the market. It's WELL worth a couple bucks. Much more responsive and less cluttered, and comes with several skins.

The only issues I've had are the finicky hotkeys, and one weird issue with texting. Every once in a while (~once/week) my texts will not send. A simple reboot fixes it. Not sure what the issue is, but I hope it's software related. It's not enough to send it back at this point though.

The Incredible does look pretty sweet, but I won't be leaving AT&T just to switch.

I just read there will be NO Verizon N1, odd since its their flagship phone, but i guess they figured its a hard sell next to an INcredible.

I'm still waiting it out just a little before i make a decision... but i'm heavily favoring jumping back to verizon. I'd be happy just to stay with AT&T if they would subsidize an N1, but i dont see that happeneing.

I'm thinking google is treading rather lightly with their phone not to strain its relationship with verizon. Plus given the other news about it not fixing the 3g bug (seemingly only on t-mobile) may indicate that they're not going to sell phones anymore and the N1 was just an experiment, i.e., no further updates, no Nexus Two.

I've got a feeling the old http://www.google.com/phone thing is over too as Vodafone over here will be selling the Nexus One direct it seems.

Hopefully this will mean it's available in store over here so people can try before they buy. A far better sales model IMO.

as an at&t nexus one owner i have not experienced these "3G bugs" and i would just chock it up to the t-mobile network or specifically that version.

i would not count the nexus one or google.com/phone as dead. the nexus one will likely be the first phone to get the new 2.2 update when it comes out this summer. google will always want to have at least one high end phone that runs stock android so that they can give it away to developers as a test device. they were just nice enough to let everyone buy it this time with the nexus one.

They even offer the Nexus One free with a two year contract.

My guess is the touch screen issues, and trackball complaints would not make this a very worthy "flagship" device. It might have been a better idea to kill it while ahead and regroup or redesign and make a full blown "king" mobile devices.

I think i'm still pulling the trigger on an Incredible, hard to get anything really better. i think

Sorry to bust the bubble but almost every phone in Europe is free with a two year contract.

Thought I'd provide some updates on my AT&T N1...

My girlfriend has been having issues with it for about a week now. She's told me that her texts have failed to go through on several occasions. She also had a very important voicemail disappear when she ended the call in the middle of the message. These seem more like issues on the carrier side but it never happened on her 1st gen iPhone nor has it ever happened on my 3GS.

I didn't experience anything like this while I was using it but they seem like pretty serious issues. It really is unfortunate that it's completely out of warranty because of the rooting.
