Yesterday I played with a HTC Desire, which from I can see is a Nexus One with a different case and Sense UI.
My verdict is that I was actually really surprised by how good it was. Android has come further than I thought, and the Sense UI is the icing on the cake. The Snapdragon is very fast, even though Android keeps things running in the background I noticed no lag at all while playing with all the apps. I also noticed that it had a very good battery life too - the shop demo which everyone was playing with had been going without a charge for about a day and a half.
The only problem I noticed was with the browser. I hit up Engadget on it and it wouldn't let me into the desktop site because it said it had too many server redirects. I found that a bit surprising considering Android was meant to be "built for the internet" and, ya know, it's made by Google and all.
The performance of the browser was faster than my iPhone 3GS, though, and the multitouch worked perfectly. The way it kept adjusting the layout of the text everytime I zoomed into a page did get on my nerves, though.
But I don't think I'll leave the iPhone for it, I'll just wait for the Android iPhone port to be developed more, then I'll be able to have the best of both worlds!
One question though: when you send e-mails from the Gmail app, is the text
formatted weirdly like
this? Because when I used the
Gmail java app it always did this
to my messages and it was very annoying.
