Sorry, but had to share this from Slashgear's 4S review....

"A bigger display would’ve made for a bigger device overall, and potentially alienated women, teens and anyone with smaller hands."

Fanboyism at it's best. (Or worst.)

If you want a good 4S review I recommend Topolsky's at the soon to be Verge. Nice video too.

Anyways, yeah, the Prime should be cool but Android is still inferior IMO and capacitive buttons blow. Hopefully Prime will give us an awesome screen. It's amazing that the retina display is still king after 16 months and counting.

BGR released the specs for the nexus prime. There goes my Iphone 4 pre-order, unless it is not coming to rogers in Canada. Based on those specs, its hard to justify being stuck for another 2-3 years with an Iphone 4s.

http://www.bgr.com/2011/10/06/samsung-galaxy-nexus-full-specs-revealed-verizon-wireless-exclusive/

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
9mm thin
4.65-inch 1280 x 720-pixel Super AMOLED HD with curved glass
TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2GHz
1GB of RAM
32GB of built-in storage
5-megapixel camera on the back, 1.3-megapixel in the front
1080p HD video capture support
LTE/HSPA depending on carrier
Wi-Fi a/b/g/n
NFC
1,750 mAh battery

Not bad at all.....its great. Question is, how long is the battery life.

Unless you've played with ICS, it's impossible to make judgement on it. And the Prime is (supposedly?) not going to have capacitive buttons. I would guess that's also going to be the case with most or all high-end Android devices going forward with ICS.

love/hate

I've been a big fan of the iPhone...left Verizon to go to the inferior AT&T to get the 3GS when it came out, subsequently got the iPhone 4 (that of which the best feature was the screen resolution imo)

I definately felt underwhelmed when the 4S was announced...(they could have kept me with a 4" screen)the greatest feature to ME seems to be Siri.

I'm 99% sure that now is the right time for me to try android for the first time...I think that it will either help me truly appreciate iOS or it will completely turn me to the 'darkside'. Either way...it's a win for me.

I didn't pre-order the 4S and am waiting on the announcement of what seems to be a very nice phone...the Nexus Prime. I watched several videos on youtube last night comparing the Samsung Galaxy S2 vs the iPhone 4. I really liked the voice to navigate feature and the 3d looking lay out with voice turn by turn for the google maps in Android...it's just plain better than the version iOS has.

The screen, despite being lower resolution was so much easier to read on thanks to the additional realestate and the color saturation was just plain awesome. (Nexus Prime will supposedly be retina display quality)

The speech to TXT feature is also really nice in Android. It's about time that iOS is getting it.

I like all the additional control you get in Android over settngs and personalization...honestly a non Jailbroken iPhone bores me to tears.

I'll likely end up rooting the phone on Android also though...I just find all of that entertaining.

I'm a fan of technology. I'm not an apple fanboy or Fandroid either....I'm just looking for the phone that gives me the most cool stuff...right now it seems to be the Nexus Prime as opposed to the iPhone 4s.

I do hope that Apple wins me back with the iPhone 5...we'll see.

In the meantime I'm excited to discover whether or not I will love or hate Android.

An edge-to-edge screen on the current phone's footprint would be nice imo.

So you made a post on a iphone article and that means your speculation on what the nexus needs is valid?

Try reading the thread. I was exaggerating, but the links backed up everything i said in the thread.

So yes, case closed, the proof is in the pudding so to speak. No more needs to be said. All the predicted doom and gloom about the iphone 4S not stacking up spec wise, is just that, doom and gloom. Outclassed this and that. Read the thread.

I doesn't really matter if the OS cannot take advantage of the hardware I was saying in the beginning of the thread. The links proved my point to a 'T'.

Don't like those tests. Here are some more. Highest scores ever tested on a smartphone by Endgadget.

Thats all fine and good but your saying that the Nexus Prime needs a bigger processor and isnt as good and it isnt even out yet so sorry , ....you have no valid point. However, in that article you are boasting about, it says this:

Here in the States, our Sprint 4S kept right up with another device we had handy from the same carrier: the Nexus S 4G.

AND

We tested a Sprint version of the phone and found that, with full bars on 3G, download speeds were averaging about 1Mbps down and .9Mbps up, with pings hovering around 70ms. Comparing that to a Nexus S 4G (with WiMAX disabled), also running on Sprint, we found download speeds to be quite comparable. Signal strength between the two phones was comparable as well.

Dude, the Nexus S came out late last year in Dec i believe. It isnt the upcoming Prime and your new 4S is keeping up with that one. Case closed indeed  Sorry Bro but thats a bit of weak sauce there!
Did you even read the article? It is mostly compared to the iPhone 4 with a couple things compared to the Nexus S which i copied.

Im not saying the iPhone isnt fast and dont really care. Im sure it is, but it is still catching up and will be surpassed in a matter of a couple months while you all wait another year for the next one to come out. You cant keep up when you release something once a year and another company is doing it several times a year. You catch up temporarily while adding things the other guys have had for a while. Its as simple as that.

The retina display is still king? I traded my iPhone in for a Galaxy S2 and the screen blows the iPhone away. When I play with my friends iPhones now they look tiny and washed out, and that's just after having this phone for 2 weeks. They all drool over the screen on this phone. It doesn't matter that technically the iPhone has a higher resolution screen. There will be other phones coming out soon that will best my screen by quite a bit. It's ok to love the iPhone, I think it's a great phone, but let's not pretend that it has the best screen out there. If you used the S2 for a week exclusively and then went back to the iPhone, you would see what I mean.

Went today to mess with a GS II for the first time in a T-Mobile store . It is a lot faster than my Vibrant and the screen is very nice. It also is bigger overall and maybe a tad too big but it is the biggest phone ill ever get. Any bigger and its a deal breaker but it runs very fast and smooth.
I didnt get one because im going to wait to see on the 19th when they unveil the Nexus Prime , when we can expect it here in the USA and if it will come to the carrier stores instead of being exclusive through Best Buy which i think is a crappy move if they do that again. I wont pay full price for that phone.

If I hear one more Android douche blabber on about how their new phone has 'better specs' than the iPhone, and therefore is better, I think I'm going to 12-gauge myself in the mouth.

Come back to me when those specs actually translate to a better user experience. Google can't make a UI that doesn't look like the backside of an elephant to save their ass. Their choice of font throughout Android is hideous, things are misaligned, and jeez what is with that horrible half-opaque rounded rectangle underneath app names on the home screens to make them readable? It looks like utter crap. Not to mention every single pinch-to-zoom animation I've seen on an Android phone is jittery as hell.

Specs don't account for **** apart from the sole purpose of giving Android fanboys their first boner.

Mine is better...go get that shotgun :p

As for the rest of your post....WTH are you even talking about? Like you cant change your fonts on Android if you want  . C-mon man, you got anything else worth talking about than your taste of fonts and icon ,opaque-rounded...whatever the hec your talking about that you cant read

That would have added like, 4 mm of width to the phone.

Assuming you're talking about the iPhone. They should definitely elongate that home button and stretch the screen though. That would be awesome.

You need the bezel to hold the phone though; without it, you would just keep hitting the screen.

I currently have a Vibrant and am currently waiting on the preorder of the iPhone 4S to ship!

So I really hope it does come later as I have time to compare the Nexus Prime. I really wish I could have a great Android phone AND an iPhone. Damn expensive phones.:(

Also, something to note. Would these damn reviewers stop docking points on Android phones that "feel cheap or plasticy, like it'll shatter". Well guess what damn it, THERE'S A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REALITY AND FANTASY. My Vibrant was docked for having that same issue. Um....I dropped it several times....but I can change the battery cover. It has gorilla glass, and has yet to shatter (or chip). So, uh, what's the problem again? That nice glass back of the iPhone....yet it'll shatter like nobody's business:mad:

Actually, Samsung Galaxy SII beats iPhone 4S in the smoothness department as demonstrated by these two videos:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pp0HlX1ySGg&feature=relmfu
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1EBlCWBHHs&feature=relmfu

SGSII also does a lot of things better than IP4S - it loads web pages faster, loads apps faster. It even has better still and video cameras as demonstrated by PC World tests here.

Nice finds. I have been seeing some iPhone people saying how Android isnt smooth and that shows that it clearly is and actually scrolls much smoother than the iPhone. My Vibrant is also smooth like that though it isnt as fast as neither one of those by a long shot and that video actually makes the iPhone 4S look a bit choppy in that department. Having 1 GB of memory to iPhones 512 MB sure doesnt hurt.

Hec and thats the GS2 which has been out a while though pretty new to the USA. Real new to T-Mobile which just got it in stores.

The Nexus Prime is going to be even better with Ice Cream Sandwich which BTW, its said the GS2 will be getting that update as well and this was my point. Apple releasing a phone every year, they cant keep up and looking at that video, they still havent. Even Siri isnt quite as good as Android's voice commands.
For me, its the GS2 or the Prime.

Good find, the GSII is a much better phone then what some of the fanboys have said.

I found this while looking at the vids you posted.

Honestly the iPhone's retina display is overrated. In real world use Samsung screens are easier to read/view. The colors are better. Regarding the lower resolutoin, its not like Samsung screens are blurry...
