What's with the ridiculous names of Android systems? Ice Cream Sandwich? I can buy that for $1.50 at a local 7-evelen...

On a more serious note, like everyone else says, 4.6 is way to big. Plus, good luck keeping the phone alive throughout the day... 4.6 inches will take way too much power to keep alive. iPhone 4 had 1420mAh; I don't know about the 4S. Nonetheless, IMO the 1,750mAh won't do you a whole lot of good with a 4.6" screen and an A9 processor...

Not everyone has the same sized hand. So that does not apply for everyone.

I'm sure he has small hands though.

Yeah, but that link is showing 4.21". We're tailing about 4.65" now. I think it's WAY too large.

SuperAMOLED screens don't use as much power like regular 4S screens. I'm sure it will have good battery life.

 That's not really the point. We aren't talking about what would be good just for the large handed population.

It's not that simple. Keep in mind the unique advantages of OLED screens. They do not lit entire screen. Only those pixel that are not black consume some energy. During normal use of this phone part of the screen where the virtual buttons are located remain totally black except for a few pixel that display button icons. The remaining area is still pretty big but not 4.6" big.

Only reason it's .43 inches bigger is because there isn't physical buttons and the buttons are part of the screen. Please think before you post.

There are some people who don't have big hands and can reach all the areas of their phones screens that are 4''+.

He has small hands or he's being a fanboy.

BGR released the specs for the nexus prime. There goes my Iphone 4 pre-order, unless it is not coming to rogers in Canada. Based on those specs, its hard to justify being stuck for another 2-3 years with an Iphone 4s.

http://www.bgr.com/2011/10/06/samsung-galaxy-nexus-full-specs-revealed-verizon-wireless-exclusive/

Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich
9mm thin
4.65-inch 1280 x 720-pixel Super AMOLED HD with curved glass
TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2GHz
1GB of RAM
32GB of built-in storage
5-megapixel camera on the back, 1.3-megapixel in the front
1080p HD video capture support
LTE/HSPA depending on carrier
Wi-Fi a/b/g/n
NFC
1,750 mAh battery

it uses Android... and the camera is **** compared to the 4S and it's only 32GB and it dosen't support ALAC. I'll stick to my original 4S 64GB plan :)

For a phone that comes to market after iphone 4S...5mpx cam and only 32GB of storage? really?
The only thing that stands out for me is the display. The rest? nothing special...

Samsung already beat the 4S with the SII. They don't need to do it again

Goodness me. So many geeks getting their underpants in a twist over a bit of glass and plastic.

Can't we just enjoy what we enjoy without arguing? I love my iPhone and I don't want to use anything else. That's my choice. If some consider it crap because another phone has been released, so be it!

I haven't used an android phone on a day to day basis, so I can't really complain about it, but while my iPhone does what it needs to, I don't care anyway.

Specs this, camera that, processor speed something else.

Grow up. Life is too short.

Because the best phones have larger screens. Apple should compete.

Also, consumers want larger screens.

A large portion (perhaps even the majority) of iPhone users are women and women have smaller hands than men. This is why I don't think we will ever see a larger screen on the iPhone.

I watched the Galaxy Nexus/ICS live streaming this morning and I feel tempted. 4.65 inch HD screen  The GN is no doubt an awesome phone.

Yep. For a simple reason. Screen resolution. If you aren't gaining any pixels, what's the point in a bigger screen? It would lose the screen density that Apple has advertised so heavily. In exchange for a slight bump in the size of screen elements? Why does a button designed to pressed with a finger need to be bigger?

If you increase the resolution, most apps are going to need to be rewritten. Right now, developers include artwork for retina and non-retina displays. Height and width are simply doubled. Simple. Adding another resolution that doesn't involve the simple pixel doubling will be a much bigger problem in maintaining a pixel perfect interface.

It was my understanding the the Super AMOLED HD display on the Galaxy Nexus actually rivaled the iPhone 4/4S in pixel density. If that is the case, your point is moot.

Does anyone know the ppi of the GN display?

hate to state the obvious but i though this was a MAC APPLE forum..

if no physical buttons how does it work?

do android stuff sync with macbooks?

yes it is. The Galaxy S2 has a "faster" processor than the iPad 2/iPhone 4s, but the Apple A5 performs better by almost double...you mean to tell me thats not an issue with how the system manages resources?

Hello! Some of you guys are so spec driven, because that is really all these other companies have. Look at there ads they never show what the phones will really do for you. Apple isn't hung up on specs, but the phones work so much smoother and with so many apps available including those that we have created in-house to do specific task while out in the field.

Most of our folks were still running iPhone 3GS's so we have now placed an order to replace all those and I think the total came it at 135 iPhones 4S's.

We purposely waited to see what this Galaxy Nexus would offer up, but the real deal they just can't give us the end user experience and ecosystem that Apple can. Especially in our corporate environment where we have already created Apps for iOS.

However, we all have choices to make and for those of you that get it. Enjoy! I know I am enjoying my choice! LOL

But women usually have two hands not one and nothing prevents them from using both hands. One handed operation is critical for using the phone while driving which should not be done in a first place. Women actually have an advantage with large phones - they do not carry the phones in the pockets.

For the Nexus phones, their aim isn't to be the top of the Android phones. It's more of a top mid range phone or low high end phone if you know what I mean. At least it isn't crippled by stupid skins manufacturers put on it.

Your next move - development of Android apps for your corporate environment. Most people use Android phones. Besides, some companies already announced that they are going to release Android phones supporting two sim-cards thus allowing people to use single phone for personal and work purposes.

There's another unique feature of OLED: screen burn-in and theoretical maximum of 2000 hr lifespan for blue pixel channels (400 hrs for burn-in).

The burn in will not happen unless you have some static picture or text on the phone for allot of hours. LCD screen burn-in has same problems. Just avoid using apps like clocks for nightstands that have static text. If the text moves around you won't get burn in on SAMOLED+ display. The burn in of status bar on Galaxy S screens was because they used a grey/white background and it was there every time you turned on the screen. Since GS2 has a black bar and black UI that won't be a problem anymore.
