For someone that says "I don't care about specs" you sure talk a lot about specs. And before this spec leak, all Apple fanboys were preaching "specs don't matter! it's the user experience! blah blah blah"

Funny how they're now saying the iPhone 4S is better because of the specs...:rolleyes:

I'm waiting to see both phones before I decide. Like most things it's hard to judge a phone purely from what's on paper.

Well, the thread is titled with the word "Specs" in it...:roll eyes:

But I do feel it's about the experience overall. I could care less if someone else's chip is .5% better, or 5% faster. Nor do I care that they have the latest/greatest phone out. I get what I need, when I need it [key word NEED].

I have no doubt the Prime will be an exceptional phone, and will look nice. If it's a phone that happens to meet your needs, and you like the hardware, software, and ecosystem, great. If not, find a phone that does.

I think the back/forth banter, in good fun, is okay. But some of the folks here are asking for an earful; both sides. The minute they start "Mine is bigger/better", it goes downhill...

I didn't consider that they'd do this with their phones...this does change things a bit. Makes it seem like the screen may be edge to edge or close to it at least. Perhaps this phone won't be so massive after all

It would certainly make more sense if the screen is edge to edge. Quite honestly 4.6 is a little too much. Let's hope then :D

You are confused my friend. I know what the A5 is. The A4 is a different processor than the A5 as the A6 will be different than the one before it. But a A5 is still a A5 SOC no matter how much ram it has or don't have.

I know the RAM isn't on the chip, The A5 is a SOC not just a processor.

Its the same chip. You change chip marking when there is a change is specs for said chip. It is still a A5 SOC, might have more ram, different frequency, same chip.

I think you mean it is not the exact implementation of the A5 chip lower or higher clock, more ram etc, but it is still the A5 SOC.

Sorry for the rude comet. I thought you were one of the delusional Android posters, I will edit my post. I apologize:eek:.
I believe that was the point I was trying to make.
Agreed, it's same SOC, but modified for the 4S.
Hence the different numbering on the chip.
Better or worse, we won't know until it's in the hands of the public.

I'm not a delusional anything. ;)
I dig tech and own Apple, Microsoft and Google products.
They all intrigue me and I love seeing what they can do.
I will not blindly defend any product, but I find it annoying when one bashes a product that A) they've never used or B) is not even released.

That is not directed at you specifically, just a general observation.
The "fanboy" crap from all sides is pointless drivel.

Let's talk real tech and give praise where it's due.

Lol your post just proves my point, how funny.
It is YOU who fail to comprehend why others are even interested in the Nexus.
Explain to me how a bigger screen with practically same PPI and higher resolution is inferior than the retina display?
Explain to me how LTE is inferior to 3G? Don't give me the usual battery crap, we don't know yet.
Explain to me how you arrive at the conclusion that the A5 in the 4S is already superior to something unconfirmed? Mind you Apple is more than likely underclocking the chip.
Remember last year when the iSheeps were preaching how camera pixels aren't everything? And how benchmark does not represent real use? Are you falling for the same Fandroid logic now?
Did you even read why others are interested in this phone? Or are you so butt hurt that you have to dismiss all advantages provided by the nexus and believe the on par/sub par qualities offered by the 4S is still unmatched?
Again, looks like I was right.
The iSheeps just never cease to amaze me. I might have lost myself a little bit and fell for the iTrolls.

Lol. Never said the iphone 4S had a superior display, just smaller. Most were claiming that the nexus prime was more HD, which it is not.

I said supposedly what the specs were, might be better or might be worse, and even claimed that specs don't matter software does, more than five times already.

I am pointing out that a phone which has specs supposedly inferior to the iphone 4S is what people are claiming what the iphone should have been. Lol.

About the camera, try reading the thread.

It appears you can't read. You are putting words in my mouth. Taking words out of context.

Yes it is confirmed you are special. Read the thread from the beginning. You are like someone watching a movie in the middle.

I am not going to type my points all over again because you take the slow bus to school.

You are making yourself look like the fool you are. If you read the thread and all of my comments from the beginning you will see how much so.

You have been owned by yourself.

self owning. Nice job. ;)

It's not HUGE. You delusional fanboy.

Really? It's most likely going to be pretty big in your hands. Things may be different if it has those onscreen buttons as part of the screen, and is built edge to edge. Perhaps I use more powerful words than you would have, I do tend to exaggerate I'll admit. But I am far from a delusional fanboy. My current phone has a 4" screen, and I love it. But I wouldn't want it any bigger. I have simply been telling people who are spewing false facts what the truth really is (which may be where you picked up the "fanboy" claim), and in the quote you just mentioned, I was explaining why I feel the iPhones screen is superior for MY needs, even though, as you may notice, I conceded that it sounds like the galaxy nexus will have the more impressive screen

Well, I mostly used my iPod touch for games and apps, web browsing, and music (until I ran out of space and bought an iPod Classic). I use the crappy 3.0 MP camera on my Env3 all of the time. Aside from that, I use it for texting. Unfortunately, the battery life is really low on it now. So for me, the 4S has:

More apps, better games
Sync with iTunes
Responsive screen--I've tried the Galaxy S II, and many other Androids, and haven't seen anything respond as quickly as any iPhone.
Better camera--If the iPhone 4 had a great sensor, and the 4S has higher MP, what is the likelihood that the Nexus' camera will be better?
Texting--Again, the more responsive screen
Battery life--Let's be honest, the iPhone 4S probably has a better battery life

I don't want a huge screen in my pocket. If I mostly used my phone for watching movies, I could see myself getting a Nexus. I can always jailbreak the iPhone if I want to tweak it.

This. + no one knows the amount of RAM in the 4S yet, right?

iPhone 4 had 512, so it's a safe bet it has at least that.

And the A5 in the iPad may well be a different chip, but the chip in the iPhone would have to be SERIOUSLY gimped for the sgs2 to cover that insane gap

Just another cookie cutter whoredroid phone to me. Screen is the best part but it doesn't exactly put the 4S to shame as it was hyped to.

I think this is my argument as well. All I heard from the Fandroid side was how bad the 4s is, and how could Apple churn something out so mediocre. Yet, this isn't exactly a "killer" [based on the specs shown]. Who knows, the BGR report could be miles off, so like the 4s/5 rumors, it could change...

I could never figure why people are so sensitive to the phones they use? I've never been ostracized due to my phone...at least I don't think I have?

This is straight from Engadget posted a few minutes back updating the Nexus Prime Specs:

http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/06/samsung-galaxy-nexus-specs-leak-headed-to-verizon-as-an-exclusi/

"Update: A new batch of rumored specs have surfaced over on GSM Arena, and these seem to be more in line with what we'd expect of a new Nexus. According to an anonymous Google employee, that 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD display mentioned above is just about the only spec to make the final cut. The processor, however, is more likely to be a dual-core 1.5GHz Exynos (that's right) with an accompanying dual-core PowerVR SGX543MP2 graphics chip. That rear facing camera? Try 8 megapixels with a newly beefed up sensor. The handset should also ship with a girthy 2,050mAh battery fully capable of juicing this apparent LTE / CDMA / GSM Android monster. "

HA!!!! Time for a RESET of this thread. Now the fanboys can really revert back fully to the software means more than hardware arguments. :)

Agreed. And given this article this whole thread might be rather pointless.

For those too lazy to look at the article, there's a new batch of leaked specs. 1.5 GHz dual core CPU, same GPU as iPad2 (and maybe iPhone 4s), 8 MP camera capable of 1080p HD and 2050 mAh battery (friggin' huge battery).

A DOUBLE HA! Now that sounds really exciting, have to catch their "keynote" next week!

The tables turned!

Yet, 20 minutes before this article appeared, you [generalization] were defending the Prime with the original specs posted...

Sad thing, this phone is supposed to be the "Cats Ass". And 3 weeks later, another Android handset with slightly better specs will be the next "KILLER" phone...and the cycle will continue.

Android Handsets are nice...give them that. However, I've seen some reports on return rates...through the roof!

it will be interesting in the next months...

just to see the real life comparison of the 3 phones....4S, S2, and the Prime.

I have been using all of the iphones since 07. With each update, Apple tends to lack behind...

I will wait for the future tests and comparisons and keep an open mind...

EXACTLY!! And I was already right 20 minutes ago. But now there can REALLY be no argument whatsoever. :p

And so what if another BETTER Andriod phone comes out. That's exactly the point. The iPhone is stuck for 12-16 months and the Andriods update every few months. That's WHY the 4S needed to really be more than it is.

Thanks for making my point for me. :)

It's always funny when new Android phones come out. They are always "iPhone killers" and yet, somehow, the iPhone always outsells them all. Why do you people continue to bicker about what's better? It's ridiculous. Nobody is going to convince the other.

I think we all need to realize that both Android and iOS devices have their good and bad points. Everything is personal preference, though. If you don't like something, don't buy it. No need in filling up 1000 pages of a forum with arguments about how something is better than something else, especially when nobody is going to change anybody elses mind.

The one thing I think we should all agree on is the fact that if it weren't for the iPhone, none of these Android devices would exist. The iPhone revolutionized everything, and so no matter how good Android phones get, they'll always function and look similar to what Apple created.

Everything else is opinion.

iphone is definitely sexier, though

No one changes anyone's mind about anything in life, really, or at least very seldom. But it's still fun to express one's views.

Now, on to politics and religion.....:D

Practically, though, there is somewhat of a reason. Apple has enough marketing power, consumer fanticism, and inertia to get a lot of 3rd party support. That support makes it a very compelling platform, because it has better 3rd party apps, media store, accessories, etc. That's why I bought the iPhone in the first place. I'd love to keep in the platform, but everytime Apple comes out with an obviously inferior product relative to the market, you get all of these fanboys BLINDLY saying how great it still is even against an obviously superior hardware device like this, and delute the general consumer message for those not brainwashed. That allows Apple to CONTINUE to not deliver more modern features because they know they won't lose that much market share, and will guarantee obsolense for the next cycle. If we, the rational consumer looking for a better product, can just shut up the fanboys somewhat, maybe Apple will take heed a bit more and deliver a more modern product. Otherwise, they really have no incentive to do so.

Why argue when this is a personal opinion?

I'd prefer the 4S since I would be able to take advantage of iCloud, have already purchased many iOS apps, and would like a carrier other than Verizon. I also generally prefer iOS over Android. I have no idea what Ice Cream Sandwich will be like, but I don't use any Google services other than Gmail so I doubt that I would get much of a use out of it.

There's no arguing that the Nexus Prime has better specs, but in the end it's down to your own needs and wants.

You weren't right 20 minutes ago. The processor in the previously claimed specs was inferior to the A5. Now you may be right, we'll have to wait for the tests to come in to see
