This sucks. Jets/Bears are playing, and I'm stuck watching a 49er/Rams purse fight.

Brady just broke the all time record for most consecutive pass attempts without an interception. 310 attempts and counting... (his last pick was october 17th vs baltimore)

34td, 4int on the year now.

Wow, now the Eagles-Minnesota game has been moved from Sunday night to Tuesday night

Link to story

I can't remember a year where so many games have been moved from one venue to another or moved days. When I first saw the headline with the Eagles-Vikings I assumed it was in Minnesota, but its not, it is Philadelphia.

Here is part of the story

PHILADELPHIA -- Are you ready for some Tuesday Night Football?

The NFL moved the Minnesota Vikings at Philadelphia Eagles game from Sunday night to Tuesday because of an expected blizzard that could dump more than a foot of snow on Philadelphia.

The game will be played at 8 p.m. ET, and televised nationally by NBC.

Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter declared a snow emergency as of 2 p.m. ET Sunday.

"We are urging all Philadelphians, please be careful, please be safe," the mayor told reporters in a news conference at City Hall on Sunday morning.

The decision to postpone the game came shortly after noon -- before there was any snow accumulation in Philadelphia.

Love that the clown terrell suggs said he was putting Ryan Fitzpatrick on his pro bowl ballot over Tom Brady... Fitzpatrick now has 3 interceptions and 2 fumbles BY HIMSELF today against the Pats.

Meanwhile Brady's interception-less streak keeps growing...

In summary, terrell suggs is a moron.

Were they ever trendy? They'd win a couple in impressive fashion, but then just as easily lose the following week. Consistent they are not!

And now, all California teams are out of playoff contention. Now there's nobody to root for regionally. For the AFC I want to see NE (and they have pulled ahead of the pack in the AFC) and to represent the NFC it's either Atlanta or New Orleans for what may make a good Super Bowl.

I still think Atlanta is the team to beat in the NFL (and at least the NFC's team to beat) but New Orleans can still change that perception on Monday. If New Orleans routs the Falcons, then nobody really looks invincible in the NFL and it will be pretty even money as to who to pick for the Lombardi trophy. If the Falcons rout New Orleans, they will truly look invincible going into the last week. If they just barely get by, but show places where they are vulnerable, then it becomes a tossup again as to who is the best in football. To beat New Orleans, you have to stop Drew Brees and take advantage of the small weakness he has in getting the ball to his receivers. To beat New England, you have to play a ball control game and take advantage of weaknesses NE has in their defense. To beat Atlanta, you have to stop their ability to go vertical to wide receivers.

An all Manning Super Bowl is possible at this point but seems highly unlikely. Unless something miraculous happens, I think Peyton's days as a top of the line starter are over and future years in the NFL will only see a Favre like decline. Peyton is 34 and it shows. As for the Giants, I think they are done for this season. If they tweak a few things, I think they can have a great season next year. KC are in the playoffs but seem the longest shot for the AFC to make it all the way. And don't even mention the NFC's Rams. They have a great QB but are weak in so many other areas. The Packers are better than their record and may get in and can be a threat in future seasons. But due to all the top seeded teams who have faltered in the last decade, anything can still happen.

at least you weren't stuck watching the lions/dolphins.

chargers laid an egg. the early season struggles finally came back to bite them this year, and now they are eliminated. the chargers are strange that way, they play lame the first half of the season, surge the second, and they burn out by playoff time. they could get away with that because their division has been bad the last few years, but not anymore.

on the subject of bad divisions, the seachickens are a disgrace. i think they let off the gas today since they knew this game meant nothing to them in terms of the playoff race, although i would have tried to win this game to get to 7-8 and have respect. i wouldn't want to be known as the first sub-.500 team in the playoffs, that's for sure. but then again, the team is a joke, like the rest of that division. every single loss by seattle was by double digits. i'm rooting for the rams to win the game next sunday. it's also the NBC game next sunday. but the winner gets to have the pleasure of being blown out at home the following week.

We should have never fired coach Mariucci back in the day. It just went downhill from there. We got lazy after two decades of winning most of the time. The coach is the ingredient that SF has been weak on. You could have the best guys on paper but suck if your coach isn't up to par and the Cowboys are a testament to that.

And with a less than average team like the 49ers, a bad coach will guarantee a less than .500 season. I think we still can work with Smith as QB and also make our D have more discipline and not render so many penalties. The D definitely has the fire but there is a fine line between going all out and playing dirty in a contact sport. Other Ds know how to play by the rules and the hardest hits can still be clean hits and taking out the guy with the ball has become a science in the NFL. Games are longer now because so many get knocked out of the game, including defensive players, too.

I think the surprise is that he lasted as long as he did.

Tell me about it. I think his legendary status of who he is kept him there the extra time at the detriment of the whole team.

But if the Niners are to get back to their winning ways, they have to get back to the whole "youth is everything, past deeds is nothing" mentality which gave them five Super Bowl wins in five tries in 14 years.

The way they parted with a lot of the great players in the early 1981 to 1984 heyday pissed off loyal fans who became sentimental with them, but it allowed the team to win in the late 1980s.

And the way the team let go key people after the back to back Super Bowls allowed the team to win in 1994.

In every case, the players who were let go early had a couple of good years left to contribute and were definitely HoF material, but the front office knew that it wasn't worth keeping older talent because just a small hit or even accident in offseason could change the whole team's dynamic. So gone were Clark, Solomon, Craig, Lott, Montana and others but in came all those rings.

I was impressed by Atlanta's aggressiveness on defense. But, it wasn't enough to hold off the Saints. Good game to watch though.

So now I need two Eagle wins, and losses for Atlanta (highly unlikely against Carolina), Chicago (possible against Green Bay), and New Orleans ( possible against Tampa Bay) for the Eagles to get the #1 seed in the NFC. ;).

(but I would be happy with the Eagles winning out and a Chicago loss for the #2 seed)

It seems like the Colts have control of their own destiny for the lone AFC spot, as do the Rams, Packers and Seahawks in the NFC. The Giants and the Bucs need to win, and also need help.

Atlanta needs a win over 2-13 Carolina for home field or a Saints loss to the relatively evenly matched Bucs, so the Falcons seem to be very safe for top NFC seed.

The NFC is so deep in talent this year with Rodgers rating, Philly and Michael Vick, Bress TDs, Atlanta's win streak, and the Bears season and it will be interesting to see who wins the NFC championship. Only the Patriots seem to be a good bet against any of these teams as their O is ever strong and their D has come up 18 spots in recent weeks, or the Jets or Ravens on a very good day. I don't see a big chance for the Steelers, KC or Indy but anything can happen in postseason.

This still looks like a collision course between the Pats and either NO or Atlanta. My money is still even with either the Pats or Atlanta to win it all. NO won tonight but did not rout Atlanta so they are still a question mark in my mind. It will be interesting to see if they can win a tough game next week.

No such thing as a good loss... but...

It was to the defending SB champs
They are a great team, probably #1 or #2 in the NFC
It was a close game... again, and they split in each other's buildings

I would rather lose this one and win the next meeting
Shows we can be beat at home
Serves as a wakeup call for the Falcons

The defense played very well
Our two fumbles were huge and costly... something we don't do normally
The Saints defense played well, and now we have to adjust

I knew it would be a tough game, and it didn't disappoint
They are very evenly matched teams

Falcons should still beat the Panthers and get the #1 seed and home field
Then the next season begins and everyone starts fresh
Should be a great playoff season

Have fun and enjoy yourself (responsibly of course)
We may get to meet again in the playoffs
Should be a great game
