I think the surprise is that he lasted as long as he did.
This is true.

What happened to the Falcons? I though MacDawg had anointed them Super Bowl champs already.![]()
At least they didn't take an ass whipping from their Division rival and trail them in the standings
I am pretty confident in my team, but check my posts
I have repeatedly indicated their vulnerabilities and long, difficult road
While at the same time pointing out their strengths
I think they will have a rough time in all their playoff games, whoever makes it that far

And I can't leave out Michael Vick, the loved/hated QB who may be remembered from going to jail to going to the Super Bowl. Even if Vick never makes it to the big game, ever, this season will be one for historians to remember.
Wow, the Vikes thump the Eagles even when the Eagles had a lot to play for
Surprising, but that's the NFL
No team wins 'em all
And you can lose at the most unlikely of times
You could also thank the Eagles offensive line...Well, now that week 16 is over, we know two things:
The Falcons weren't as good as 63dot said.
Brady is the clear cut MVP. Thanks Vick for killing any debate last night. There never should have been any anyways.
The NFL will announce a decision in the Brett Favre/Jenn Sterger case within the next 48 hours, a person familiar with the case told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
Favre, currently with the Vikings, is not expected to be suspended, but he will be disciplined, according to the source.
The league has been investigating allegations that Favre sent inappropriate photos and phone messages to Sterger in 2008, when he was the quarterback for the New York Jets and she was a game hostess for the team.
Sterger's manager, Phil Reese, has said his client would like the league to "implement a program" to prevent unwanted advances similar to those she is alleging Favre made.
Reese said Sterger wants the league to discipline Favre before his career ends. "It's not a money story," Reese said, adding his client's goal is some acknowledgment that Favre was in the wrong.
Favre has said this season will be his last.
The Vikings, who have been eliminated from playoff contention, play at Detroit Sunday in their final game of the season. Favre missed Tuesday night's game against the Eagles with concussion-related symptoms. His status for the game against the Lions is unclear.

The NFL has fined Vikings quarterback Brett Favre $50,000 for a "failure to cooperate" with the investigation into allegations he sent inappropriate messages and lewd photos to a former New York Jets game-day hostess.
The league says commissioner Roger Goodell "could not conclude" that Favre violated the league's personal conduct policy based on the evidence currently available.
Goodell told Favre that if he had been found to have violated the NFL's workplace conduct rules he would have been hit with a stiffer penalty.
Favre allegedly sent messages and photos to Sterger two years ago, when they were both with the Jets. The allegations against the 41-year-old quarterback surfaced in October on the website Deadspin.
It posted a video Oct. 7 that included text messages and voicemails allegedly left by the quarterback for Sterger, including one in which he invites her to his hotel. The video ends with several below-the-belt photos -- said to be of Favre -- which allegedly were sent to Sterger.
"The forensic analysis could not establish that Favre sent the objectionable photographs to Sterger," the NFL said in its statement. "The review found no evidence to contradict the statements of both Favre and Sterger that they never met in person, nor was there anything to suggest that Sterger engaged in any inappropriate conduct."
In a memo sent to the NFL's 32 teams Wednesday, Goodell said there are "no excuses for improper or potentially unlawful conduct in the workplace."
"Every member of every club's staff should be able to work in an environment free of harassment or hostility, and one in which every employee is valued, respected, and given a full opportunity to contribute to the goals of the club and the NFL," Goodell said in the statement. "Our new training program on workplace conduct will help all of us to promote the right kind of environment for all employees and I intend to dedicate the fine I have imposed on Favre to help fund that training program."
A former model who also appeared on the Versus television network, Sterger refused to speak on the record to the website. Weeks after the story broke, she talked with league investigators and cooperated fully, according to her manager.
Deadspin editor in chief A.J. Daulerio acknowledged paying a third party for the material it posted on Favre and said that he could not guarantee the material was genuine. Deadspin also reported that Favre pursued two female massage therapists who worked part-time for the Jets, according to one of the women, who spoke anonymously to the website.
The NFL on Wednesday said that it investigated this second allegation but that "misconduct by Favre regarding that claim was unable to be substantiated because individuals with potentially relevant information declined to be interviewed or otherwise cooperate with the investigation."
Citing unidentified sources, Fox Sports reported earlier that Favre admitted to NFL investigators that he left the voicemails but denied sending the inappropriate photos.
A three-time league MVP, Favre has consistently refused to answer reporters' questions about the allegations. He said early on that he had enough to worry about with the Vikings' next opponent, and that's certainly been true this season.
Convinced to come back for one more run at a title by three Minnesota teammates who flew down to see him in Mississippi, Favre's second year with the Vikings has been nothing like the charmed run of last season, which ended with a heartbreaking loss to New Orleans in the NFC Championship Game.
Ever since he threw a critical interception in that game, things haven't been the same for Favre on the field. He's now the 30th-rated passer in the NFL, just ahead of Jimmy Clausen and Derek Anderson, having thrown 19 interceptions after tossing just seven last season.
Favre also has been battered with injuries to his ankle, chin, ribs, back and shoulder -- the last of which ended his NFL record for consecutive starts at 297 three weeks ago. A crushing hit he took against the Buffalo Bills sprained his throwing shoulder and kept him out of the following game, a loss to the New York Giants.
He surprisingly started last week against the Bears, but was knocked out in the second quarter with a concussion and missed Tuesday's victory over Philadelphia.
Despite all of his troubles, Favre has said all along that he did not regret coming back for a 20th NFL season.
"If you had seasons like you did last year, every year, I don't think you would appreciate them nearly as much," said Favre, who has said this season will be his last -- though he has retired and unretired before.
The Vikings finish the season at Detroit on Sunday, and interim coach Leslie Frazier said Favre would start the game if he is healthy.
I wonder is the Eagles wished they played Sunday night after all.
