In the NFC, I would be surprised if Seattle made it to the SB, but none of the others would shock me

Atlanta - has home field and a solid team
Chicago - solid defense and Hester can change a game (+) but so can Cutler (-)
Philadelphia - inconsistent, but they have the Vick factor
New Orleans - defending champ and Brees is a winner
Green Bay - Rodgers is getting healthy
Seattle - no chance

In the AFC, I would be surprised if New England didn't make it to the SB, and would be pretty shocked if anyone else did

New England - Belichick and Brady at their best
Pittsburgh - inconsistent, but has big time players
Indianapolis - not the same team as years past
Kansas City - up and coming but not there yet
Baltimore - could be dangerous, but has to get hot
New York - too many distractions and head games

Spot on, definitely. Before a game is played, it is essentially New England's Super Bowl to lose. Anything can happen though, as it did when the Giants upset them.

I'm hoping that my Jets can get past Indy this weekend. If we are going to get knocked out of the playoffs, I'd like to be knocked out by the best. As much as I would love to place them in the upper echelon of the AFC they just aren't there yet...they are way too inconsistent, and their offense doesn't have the luxury of having Big Ben as their quarterback.

And MacDawg? Too many distractions and head games? That's every week, every sport in NY. :D

it's official. the 2010 nfc west is the worst division of all time (even worse than the 2005 nl west, when the padres finished barley over .500 as division winners). every team stinks, and that game was horrible. we shouldn't be traveling to seattle, the seachickens should be traveling to new orleans due to their cruddy record (i said that if you don't finish at .500 or better, you don't get a home game). this is a complete contrast to the 2008 nfc south, where the saints finished 8-8, which was good enough for last place.

It was always a statistical possibility, and my Seahawks just proved it could be done. Plus a winning record is not indicative of a good team moreso than it is of a soft schedule, i.e. ATL, NO, NYJ.

If Saints fans don't like the fact that they are going to be playing in the loudest stadium in the NFL, then they should have made a better effort to win their division.

More interestingly is how the Raiders are not in the playoffs, after sweeping their division.

I'm actually glad the 'hawks got it. If it had been the 8-8 Rams, that would have preserved a shred of respectability. A 7-9 taking it is such a disgrace that it might finally convince people that the system needs to change.

That's not really fair to say, being that the Saints are in the same division as the very talented Bucs, as well as the most consistent team in the NFL with the longest win streak over winning teams (Atlanta). Heck, if the Pats were in the NFC South, they would have placed second based on who had to play who. But that's football where a team from the south, Dallas Cowboys, plays in the NFC East, and a St. Louis team plays in the NFC West.

I don't hold out much hope for the Seahawks, but if they get past the first game, they might just get a postseason momentum which may help them. This could be a Cinderella run and even though the Seahawks won their division, they are more like a wild card team with their record. It will be no small sports story if the Seahawks get to the Super Bowl. What would make this year a lot of fun is if the Chiefs meet the Seahawks in the Super Bowl.

There was one year where two expansion teams, Jaguars and Panthers, were just one win away from getting into the Super Bowl to play each other. As it turned out, it wasn't to be. They did make the cover of Sports Illustrated on their unlikely runs.

If the 10-6 Giants could beat the 16-0 Pats in a Super Bowl, the Seahawks could beat their opponents and get to the Super Bowl. Of course, that would be made more likely if the higher seeds on the other side of the NFC tier got knocked out, too.

We will all be watching to see how the Seahawks fare. Good luck.

When is Rex Ryan going to learn to keep his mouth shut and not poke a sleeping lion. First be said they would take down the Pats and they got destroyed, now he is saying he will beat the Colts. The team might not be great but Payton is still the QB.

I think when the lion officially takes his hand. I'm curious who will come to play on that game. Do they dare go with Sanchez and his shaky sophomore season or rely on the vet? Manning has been to the playoffs many times, I don't think he'll be too nervous.. plus, it's in Indy. Tough place to play as an away team. If the Jets' D manages to come in strong, they might be able to win with LT on the ground.

I'd be shocked if Sanchez doesn't play, unless he can't go because of injury. If he is your future, you have to win or lose with him.

The Colts are beatable this year, even at home. You just have to blitz, blitz, blitz. Peyton can't win if he's comfortable back there. If they can stop the run, and keep Peyton running scared he will make mistakes. And, of course, don't make stupid mistakes on offense and freaking score 6 when you get in the red zone.

And we pray. Something I've been doing my whole life with this team.

Peyton isn't the vulnerable one. I think it's some of the rest of the team. Manning has a good QB rating and great yards this season.

Peyton is going to teach little Mr. Dirty Sanchez what its like to be a real quarterback, and not just a wanna be surfer boy from the university of spoiled children.

Brett Favre, Jets sued by 2 former massage therapists

Brett Favre is getting sued for sending pervy text messages - and not by Jenn Sterger.

Two former massage therapists for the Jets filed suit against the grid great and Gang Green today, charging they were fired after they spurned the quarterback's crude digital advances.

In papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, Christina Scavo and Shannon O'Toole say Favre made his move on them in the summer of 2008, after the pair had been working at the Jets training camp on Long Island.

"Brett here," the text to O'Toole began. "[Y]ou and crissy want to get together im all alone[sic]."

He then sent a follow up text, saying, "Kinda lonely tonight I guess I have bad intentions."

Scavo told her husband about the texts, and he called the Packers legend up, and "requested that he stop soliciting his wife for 'bad intentions' or to get together with her. Mr. Scavo further requested that Favre apologize for his inappropriate behavior of sexually harassing Christina Scavo and other massage therapists," the suit says.

Favre "responded in an inappropriate manner and refused to apologize," the filing says.

"He essentially told him to go away and as a celebrity he couldn't be bothered with the little people," said the therapists' lawyer, David Jarosclawicz.

He said it was his clients who got sacked after the hubby's phone call. Scavo and OToole "were never again called to provide massage therapy for the Jets," the suit says.

Jaroslawicz said his clients decided to come forward after former Jets' sideline reporter Sterger's story about being harassed with crude emails from Favre went public. "Then they knew it was a pattern," Jaroslawicz said.

Both women cooperated with the NFL's investigation into Favre's conduct, and both were disgusted with the $50,000 penalty the league handed down against him.

"It's a joke. It's like letting a drunk driver plead guilty to a broken tail light," Jaroslawicz said.

The suit also names the Jets as defendants, as well as the Jets' employee who coordinated the massage program, Lisa Ripi. The suit quotes from texts Ripi sent Scavo earlier this year, where she told the therapist her "husband is a complete a--hole" and "you should have come to me."

"For sure feel horrible that u had to go thru that w a pervert . . . He was wrong on all counts . . . and we cldve helped u a lot more at the time," the suit quotes Ripi as texting.

The suit seeks unspecified money damages, and for Scavo and O'Toole to get their jobs back.

I don't hold out much hope for the Seahawks, but if they get past the first game ...
... they will face their toughest challenge: the Zebras. A review of some of the crucial plays and yellow laundry from SB XL will show that the league has no love for the Hawks and will make sure they do not make it past the second week of the play-offs. Dawg is correct, they have no chance.

It's a winning formula!

I think right now I want to see a Patriots versus Falcons Super Bowl.

As a Falcon fan, I would prefer an easier opponent :D

I don't think the media or much of the country would want to see the Falcons. They are not a good story. They are blue collar and workmanlike with no real "stars" according to the media. Even though Ryan plays well, he is overshadowed by Brady, Manning, Vick, Brees and even Rivers, whose team was mediocre to awful and didn't make the playoffs. Turner is solid, but rarely gets mentioned with Adrian Peterson, LaDanian Tomlinson, and other backs. Roddy White might be the best receiver in the game right now, but you still hear about Owens, and the hype is around Green Bay's receivers. Gonzalez gets his props, but more for his career than being a Falcon. And there are no defensive stars like Palamalu, Ray Lewis, et. al.

No, the media would like to see NE (Belichick and Brady make good TV) or Pittsburgh (Big Ben is a walking story) from the AFC

From the NFC...
New Orleans - Brees, the repeat, and more of the feel good story
Philadelphia - the Vick story of redemption (imagine the play that would get)
Green Bay - they LOVE Rodgers and Green Bay for some reason

Seattle has no chance, but the Bears and the Falcons are not high on the media list for the SB.

Every time I watch highlights on the NFL channel, all i ever hear is how good the Falcons are and how they could be the best team in the NFL. Always hear about Matty "ice" being one of the best in the league and how well he plays at home. The rest is spot on. I can't wait for the playoffs. I want to see the Jets upset the Colts and then the Pats to spank them again. I would love to see the look on Rex's face. **** the Jets.

Well, the Titans are cutting ties with Vince Young
Titans plan to move Vince Young

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams says it's time to let Vince Young go and for the franchise to find its next quarterback.

The Titans released a statement Wednesday night in which Adams said Young won't be on the team's roster next season, but he's still evaluating the coaching staff.

I think "no Vince Young" helps Fisher's chances of staying on, but does he really want to at this point?
