Great update its made a great app even better. I do have one question though. I know this is nit picky but I've a very hard sleeper and it takes more to wake me up than most people. I have an alarm app that I used before I got your app it has a louder amplified version of reveille. I tried moving that file between the apps but it didn't show up in the list of alarms. Would it be possible for me to do this and I'm just not doing it right? Also is it possible to turn of the alarm from within the app if you use music? When I use one of my songs as an alarm I always have to go into the ipod to turn off the music. Again great update.

Sorry about not being able to turn off the alarm from the app. That's a bug, and I'll fix it in the next update.

As for Reveille, rename it to Reveille.mp3 and place it inside of the app bundle (open up the .app, and replace Reveille.mp3 with your version). This may not work, since the app bundles are code signed and don't usually allow changes, but you could try.

I'm glad that you like the update, though.

Yeah I tried that and it didn't work. First I renamed the reveille file that was there and I added the louder audio file and named it Reveille.mp3. When I went to make reveille an alarm it wouldn't play. Having the song turn off when I shut off the alarm would be great though. I wasn't sure if it wasn't a feature, if it was a bug, or if it wasn't allowed by Apple. Good to hear it can be done.

Does this app handle weather outside the US? In particular Australia?
Also can the scale be changed between farenheit and celsius?

Also, may I suggest having a function whereby the photo background changes depending on the forecast weather. So if its a sunny day, then show a sunny background. If its overcast or rainy, it automatically changes the background to reflect this

Users can change the temperature unit to Celsius, and weather works in Australia (data comes from Yahoo weather). Good suggestion, as well.

Thanks for updating the app with the swipe to change the brightness. One of my favorite features!

Glad that you like it. I just submitted another update to Apple for review. Thanks to everyone that suggested new features!

Here's the change log:

Completely overhauled wallpaper system:
-12 beautiful new wallpapers, in both landscape and portrait
-Added the ability to move and scale user photos
-Added wallpaper cycling: You can now have more than one background image set. Nightstand will automatically change the wallpaper at a user specified time interval

Main Display improvements:
-Added the ability to move the HUD (clock position)
-Nightstand now starts up in the correct orientation
-Users can now hide the Seconds label
-Setting 24 hour time now hides the AM/PM label
-Alarm icon is back, and now, tapping it takes you to the list of all alarms, so you can easily change your settings

Miscellaneous improvements:
-Added a flashlight. Shake to activate, and shake again to turn off.
-Fixed bug that prevented users from receiving weather data for some Asian cities such as Singapore and Hong Kong
-Fixed bug that occurred when users selected cities with accented characters, i.e. Montréal
-New, cleaner look in the settings view
-UI improvements

And now it's available!

nice work

Thanks a lot!

I just wanted to share that update v2.1.1 is now available, and adds many new alarm features. Users can now set a playlist from their music library as an alarm sound, set their phone to vibrate during an alarm, fade in volume, and the alarm even works while a device is sleeping!

I just wanted to thank you for such a great app. I seriously think you should speak to Apple about making your app the iPhone home page. I can only imagine how perfect it would be to open up the iphone, see the clock, date, weather, any picture, and then have message notifications added to it. Great app, and should be the iphone homescreen.

Thanks a lot, Scott! That would certainly be great. I really appreciate all of your support, too.

Right now, I'm just trying to stand out from a lot of the apps that crowd the app store. Even to just get into the top 100 utilities, I'd need around 75 US downloads / day, I think.

User Error?

I just bought this a few days ago and set a re-occuring alarm for weekdays. I used an song from my music library and ensured the alarm was on. This morning the alarm did not go off. Does the application need to be active to work? I know the built in clock does not need to be active in order for the alarm to work. Thanks!

Yes, it must be active in order to work. App Store apps are not allowed to run in the background.

If you do want my app to work in the background, jailbreak your iPhone and install Backgrounder. Then leave it running and go to another app. Tthe alarm will still go off since you never actually quit it.

Thanks for the information. I wish I had realized that before I bought it, but it was only .99. I'll go back to using the built in Apple clock.

I also bought this a few days ago based on the positive reviews here, plus the developer sounds like a nice guy.

That said....I've been less than impressed. The app crashes most times when I start it up, and if it doesn't, its incredibly laggy, taking forever to go through the options. The app has a lot of potential if these issues are addressed, however.

Just for troubleshooting, which device do you use? Also, are you connected to WiFi or the cell network? What country are you in, also?

I've never experienced crashes on start up, but users in some other countries (besides the US or UK) have occasionally complained about this. I had thought this was fixed in version 2.2, but apparently not. I'd really appreciate if you could PM me with more details so I could get this fixed right away.

I'm in the U.S., in Chicago. I'm running on a 3G with 3.1.2 firmware. Not sure if that's part of the reason i'm getting slower performance. I appreciate your willingness to troubleshoot!

I'm definitely happy to do so. I sent you a private message, so we can discuss this in more depth.

Interesting, I have the same set up, 3G and 3.1.2, and have never had those issues. I'm in NYC.

Alright, guys. I'd like to extend a huge thank you for all of your support and enthusiasm. I've finally broken into the top 100 in the US productivity apps, and the top 50 in the UK productivity category!

I do have many more updates planned, so keep suggesting features! A lot of you have had many great ideas.

Thomas

Followed this thread with interest, nice to see so many updates with useful features.

Can I just ask, does it have a configurable sleep timer so I can set it to play my music/playlist for 15/30/45/60.... minutes and then fade to sleep?

If you can wake up to music then you can go to sleep to music which to me and I'm sure a lot of others is more important :)

Will purchase anyway as I'm sure if you don't already have this feature (can't see it listed) it is only a matter of time if I'm lucky ;)

Keep up the good work.

Turns out that you are lucky:) I submitted an update several days ago to add a sleep timer, and once approved, you'll be able to do exactly what you had said.

Thanks for your interest!
