I do hope they change the remote for the Apple TV. It is worse than useless.
It actively ruins an evening on the couch... and like the butterfly keyboard Apple seems stubbornly arrogant to change what's clearly broken (or they're measuring just how blindly loyal their users in accepting crap and thinking it's gold).

My non-tech wife is always asking "Doesn't someone sell a remote for this that actually works?"... I tell her "I find your lack of Apple faith disturbing."

How many times do we get these "RUMOURS" that there will be a new AppleTV released in a few months.

I delayed buying an AppleTV for ages before just giving up and getting a new 1 from ebay.

Picture quality is far better than SkyQ, apps and games can be good (subsequently bought a Switch & PS5), controller is naff.

A cheaper 4K AppleTV to compete with Amazons Fire Stick would be welcome but its a different experience.

Perhaps an 8K AppleTV but actually where is the 8K content Plex?

Where did you get that idea?
Apple has been steady with the current mouse design for what, 11 years?
Also with the last keyboard fiasco, they would be stupid to change the current one that's working perfectly.
Exactly. It’s been a long time. They’re not going to keep the designs forever and this would be a good time to change even if they’re minor tweaks. Doesn’t have to be anything major. Who knows.

A good start would be making the Mac Pro accessory color available standalone.

Improve the remote so that I can actually, reliably, skip forward and backward (a must during live sports) without having to pause first.

Provide HDMI-in so that I can hook up a Blu-Ray player or game box (2 or 3 inputs would be nice) and then I can use my AirPods and Beats for anything I might have. I'd love to hook up a pair of HomePods but if I'm playing a disc, I can't do that.

Do those and I'd wait in line to get one to replace the one I have.

I just got an LG CX and I’ve barely touched my Apple TV 4K since. Web Os is fast, responsive, feels more modern and the magic remote is fun to use. The tv has all the streaming services I use built in and even has the ability to play video off my NAS which was the main thing i always used the Apple TV for

I've never had any issues with it... what exactly makes it useless?
I think useless is a pretty strong work. Annoying/Frustrating is more like it. There are dozens of threads here and articles on other sites already covering this. I don't care for it and would not buy another AppleTV if they don't significantly change it. My parents (70+) were so frustrated by it they stopped using the AppleTV completely (so I guess you could say that is useless). I bought them a Roku instead.

Apple fan boy here.

there’s been a new AppleTV coming for the last 2 years.
Only last week was the “one more thing” and it wasn’t an AppleTV. It was expensive bean cans.

in other news. Rain is wet and snow is cold. Apple might release a new Apple TV. They might not.

Don’t wait. Just get one now. They’re great.

many don’t find it that difficult to use. Sounds like a user error to me

My now ancient 3rd gen has been do for an upgrade even though it's still perfectly capable. Honestly I'm just wanting separate profiles and Apple Arcade support. I'm actually low-key stoked for ATV's future!
Mine is working perfect except for no Apple Music support and some glitches with seeing my iCloud photo library (not sure if this is software restricting or some bug...) so I do want tot upgrade. Planing to get a new 4K TV next year and expand my 5.1 living room to Atmos so I'm excited for what a new version could bring.

Hopefully it’ll come with a lower cost. With Apple TVs previously starting at $99, and with Chromecasts and Firesticks all being in the $30-$50 range, it makes Apple TVs seem really overpriced.
LOL! Since when is Apple concerned with pricing something to be competitive with the cheaper brands? Literally everything Apple sells is more expensive than an equivalent brand. Apple charges $30-$50 for simple adapters and cables...you expect them to ship something that actually DOES something for $30-$50? LOL!!!

Yeah, I’m well aware of the Apple tax, but a 3x-6x time markup to a comparable product is insane, even for Apple.

For which month should we expect this? I would upgrade my ATV3 which works pretty well, but to have more features.

Apple hasn't updated the current Apple TV 4K since September 2017.
It is all just part of the more efficient rumor generation algorithm which has streamlined news to the point that copywriters have been able to simply use that exact same above quoted as a headline for four straight years now.
