can't we just stop all these BS "reports" from non-sources and actually WAIT until the event?
When the great soothsayer 'Kuo' speaks then the clicks come. This site has to generate clicks like so many others.
It does matter if 60%+ of what is forcast is complete rubbish.
I know one thing and that is the launch of the next iPhone will mean that I can pick up an iPhone 7 secondhand. If it is as good as he says then the price of the old phone will drop a lot and that means a bargain for me.
Yours E Scrooge.

Seems like Apple is doing one big design loop - had a glass back then went to metal and now back to glass again. Lets hope it's Gorilla Glass or even sapphire as no doubt people will be concerned about the glass breaking upon it being dropped.

there was a rumor that the metal rim between the two glass outward surfaces would switch to steel instead of aluminium in order to make it less bendable in the event of a drop to minimize glass breakage.

Actually, this screen can be done with the same/current footprint of the iPhone 7+ once they drastically reduce or remove the "chin & forehead" portions of the bezel.

I think you mean iPhone 7 not 7+.

FWIW, I want an iPhone with the battery life of the 'Plus' sized iPhones in a body the size of the non plus sized ones. It sounds like this 'iPhone 8' could be it and with a better and bigger screen than the iPhone 7 has. Sounds promising.

"although a very slim top bezel could remain to house the front-facing camera and earpiece cutout"

Nooo, the whole front should be a display and we want true wireless charging, not pad charging.

This looks more like a Samsung copy than something new and revolutionary.

If you absolutely must put a "slim top bezel" for the cam, because the Apple engineers are incapable of solving the problem, consider putting a cam at the bottom as well, so it is symmetrical and you don't need turn the phone around if you pick it up the wrong way.

"Kuo also said the device's physical dimensions will likely be similar to a 4.7-inch iPhone."

Relieved that it may still be below current 5" physical dimensions.

iPhone pro, TC has realised iPad Pro has not worked into tricking people that its a laptop replacement....how about an iPhone pro with pencil support? Apart from screen size, same offering....

Just slapping Pro on it, will add another $100 + . This is TC apple...profits profits profits.... the man trolls political issues and is one damn greedy operator. Kudos he is bringing in the profits while sales drop

I hope they use american steel in it.

Last time Ives saw American steel was in the gym........that was a long time ago...

Good to see Apple will make good on supporting the Pro market.

Tim: "Each iPhone 8 comes with an Apple Pen* Pro Mini"

It reall sounds like iPhone 8 will have a massive bottom chin if only 5.1 inches of the screen are usable, it will look very odd and disjointed in my opinion with a large row of bottom buttons.

I am not sure if I want a 5.8 inch phone. I constantly drop my iphone 7. I am interested in an oled ipad though.

It's not like people ever change their opinions or anything...

I think time changed, back then he might have been right.

The 6 / 7 design is far less vulnerable to drop damage than the 4 / 5 series. Keeping my fingers crossed, hoping that we are no going 'back in time' on this.

It's been proven since what, the iPhone 4, that rumors that are widely reported this far in advance (see Lightning Port, headphone jack removal, touch ID, waterproofing, etc) are usually correct to a very high degree.

Well there was the teardrop design rumour...

But I don't get the point of a dedicated button area. Why doesn't that just be part of the main screen, with the buttons just appearing when required? And any functionality provided by the buttons will have to be available elsewhere, for those who have the other phones.

Something doesn't ring true about this rumour. And as others have said, this isn't going to appeal to 6+ and 7+ owners who chose it for the larger screen.

Yes, please refer to the Apple home page.

I have used an iPhone 4 with a bumper-type rim around it and its glass kept just fine. Sure, if one drops it on something nasty, it will still crack, but that same fall would also cause some damage to the current metal (aluminium) casing. Ironically, iPhone 5C (plastic) had the sturdiest body for me. All the rest needed some sort of protective gear to keep their looks.

Bumpers? Everybody is discussing the great design the iPhone is supposed to have and than we put a horrible plastic thing around them making so all cell phones look the same, WTF!!!!!

Camara on the bottom??? That where your fingers will be, good luck with that.

okay Donald.....

The capacity for OLED displays at the quality Apple demands and the quantity required simply hasn't allowed Apple to switch to OLED yet
Lol, most phone manufacturers use Amoled for years now... would you say those are inferior to Apple's offerings?
[doublepost=1488707910][/doublepost]Apple should already be all Oled by now: iMac, MacBook (pro). Everything! At premium prices you expect the latest and greatest.

Thats what i never understood with software buttons on Android either. Why waste so much screen for it? They could just have them fade in and out when necessary instead of showing them at all times. I mean this would be the whole advantage of having software buttons to me in the first place ...

inaccurate reporting from Nikkei?

All we care about is coming first, not accuracy.

I feel we are going to be disappointed though. It will be some kind of collectors/anniversary edition in the first few months. In februari they will catch up with demand. And by september 2018 all models will have this design, but with an upgraded soc and camera' s.
I can already imagine the complaints.

I can' t wait for the iphone 8 plus though, 6.6 inch oled anyone? Have to wait until october 2018 though.
