this, along with the apple watch review video itself, has firmed up my decision to never read The Verge again  this dude is a loser.

Thats really funny. He seems quite a bit insecure.

You reckon? ;)

He also seems like an ass.

I'm amazed at such outright hate toward an old man. Incredibly disrespectful. I agree that the band was fair game. Patel was criticized, but treated in an otherwise polite manner.

He did not respond in kind. His comments were about as mature as he was the day he bought that unfortunate bracelet from Hot Topic.

"Sorry for 'partying' guys"

"...maybe I don't want to be a suit."

LOL! These are gold.

I feel incredibly embarrassed that he revealed so much about himself. The spiky bracelet is actually pretty fitting.

Party on, Nilay.

I was hoping somebody who wears smart watches would do the review at the verge
He has been negative about the Apple watch since September
And the thing is he says the Apple watch is no good so everybody at the verge has to defend that review , take his lead

someone should tweet this page to him.. it would be fun :p :D

I don't have a Twitter but some one that does should do this. Seems like it's not very difficult to get him to bite because he got so worked up over something very trivial. Once again I don't think we're picking on him and it is his choose to respond if he desires. If he does he may now be more level headed or there could be more insanity. The insanity is what has made me into a fan and makes me more interested in his work even if just for comedic value. If this brings him more viewers that it is actually to his benefit.

Thinking about joining forces with Sam Biddle to shame this racist and demand public apology. In all honesty, he should be fired from The Verge. He is nothing but embarrassment to Vox Media.

Which website is good for this, Change.org or Kickstarter?

I wouldn't take his quotes too seriously and just enjoy how absurd and immature he presented himself for a good chuckle.

Too seriously?? You kidding me?! Like someone else said earlier, had that old man been of color, there would've been WW3 by now. What he said is just as grave and shouldn't go unpunished.

I just personally think it's a waste of energy to get worked up about such a lunatic and empower him in any way. Having said that I respect your opinion. You should focus your energy on some type of boycott if you really are as passionate about the matter as you seem.

Before commenting any further, I urge everyone to go and watch Monika Lewinsky's powerful TED talk, The Price of Shame. This question of fashion and taste is such a trivial point over which to be making a fellow human being's life miserable -- and don't under-estimate how much it will!

I believe the biggest shame in her life was brought upon herself from her own actions which is similar to the shame Patel has cast upon himself. I have not watched the TED talks but if you are insinuating they are both some types of victims then I disagree. Only victmins to themsleves. Why not just enjoy this for it's humorous absurdity. Patel is going to be just fine with all his riches, success, and spike bracelets.

It is saddening to see so many people here taking pleasure in the harassment of someone, just because he wrote a review they didn't approve of. Shameful really.

Pleasure in the harassment of someone? He was the one doing the harassing. There's no pleasure being taken, he just was out of line and offensive?

Did you even read his tweets?! He was being a racist a$$hole.

Are you saying apple fans are not trolling him as a result of the review? Do tell.

Never heard of the guy, until I saw multiple posts having cheap shots at him on MR after the verge review.

Yeah the guy lost it, so why is it posted here...... That's right, he gave the Apple watch a 7/10.

Once his review went live, members on MR were taking cheap shots at his bracelet etc. He has been trolled by Apple fans, and took him a while to loose it. Check the posts on MR, you will find our members were taking pleasure is ridiculing the guy before his meltdown.

Nothing to do with his rating on the Apple watch. I thought it was reasonable.

Did you read his racist/offensive tweets? The guy published a fashion opinion/review then when he received one in defense he snapped with, "old white man" comments ect.

He went on an unprofessional rampage on twitter swearing and berating people and you're defending him?

he probably wears it for masterbating. Explains his rage. he is chafed, sore and irritable.

Please watch the TED talk.

I'm not defending his meltdown. Nor am I ignoring the MR members who have been trolling try guy before the meltdown.

So in relation to those tweets, guy is an ass and should know better.

I admit I was (still am maybe?) a big fan of the Verge, however I was really disappointed with the Apple Watch review. It 'looked' fantastic and went on forever so I was looking forward to reading it. Turns out I ended up skimming it as it lacked the fine detail I was looking for in such a review and just came off as casual and pretty unprofessional for a tech site.

As for Nilay, when he stated mentioning the looks of the bands etc, I must admit I laughed inside as I gazed at him looking awkward, wearing a suit with a spiked band on his wrist. Clueless comments from someone who doesn't get the Apple Watch or fashion. Personally nothing of what he said really left any kind of impression on me and quickly discarded much of what he said.

As for his comments on Twitter, yeah he was really angry wasn't he? lol
