This isnt a game... this is just part of the Mii universe... similar to street pass on the 3DS...
You create an avatar and then you interact with others, and you can invite friends on quests... but if you want to play other mini games you have to pay...

These are very boring and over priced games...

Hopefully though they will allow you to communicate with people in other languages -- im from the UK, but currently living in Japan... the problem is the european 3DS does not allow you to write in any asian languages - when i contacted nintendo they said "in europe there is not enough of a demand to include japanese language tools"... they also said that in Japan there is not a demand for english, even though it is compulsory for japanese people to study english throughout school and more companies request english ability and so they have many english studying 'games' instead...

Basically, nintendo like to encase people into stereotypical subgroups so they can control the people and make people want what nintendo dictate...

in short - everyone wants mario bros etc, but nintendo is telling you that that isnt true and you actually really want a mii avatar!!!

This is just sad...

RIP Iwata and the good ole days of Nintendo.

What good old days? - the days where content was over priced and heavily restricted...
At least now they are gradually branching out -- hopefully they will lift the region locks etc

"Was delayed because Nintendo needed to tell people what Miitomo is."

Yeah... Might be a good call. I read the article and I still don't know what Miitomo is. You make a Mii and it just... talks to other people? Why not just text them, or better yet, talk to someone in person?

Huh? Not sure what I just read, but why am I not paying $2.99 right now for Super Mario Bros, Contra, Double Dragon, and Castlevania?

Superimpose a transparent NES controller on screen (just a directional pad, and A and B buttons) and watch the world throw money at you Nintendo! What is the problem?

Because Contra and Castlevania would be completely impossible with that control method.

The buttons and your fingers would cover he screen you are trying to play on.

I know you are dying to know what the 'girl' said.
Well I'll tell you.

She said, "Tokoro-de anata-wa kyu-hi nani shitemasu ka?"

"By the way, what do you do on your day off?"

There, now you know. Now go buy the game.

Sounds absolutely amazing to me I'm going to download this Mii-whatever game at once! /s

I'm sure if they released Mario Kart for iOS everyone would be happy, however Mario Kart was the reason I purchased a Nintendo Wii U, so if they did release anything worth having it was cannibalise any console sales.

Just suck it up Nintendo and give the World what it really wants! The original Super Mario trilogy remastered for the retina iOS! Haha

All those saying they want to see 'classic' Nintendo game properties (e.g. Mario) simply ported to iOS…

Doing that - I'm sure something would be lost in the process, much like if you ran iOS on Android hardware.

There's something special about Nintendo-designed games played on Nintendo-designed hardware. It's a combination greater than the sum of parts.

Yeah but I'm just not going to haul my 30-year-old Nintendo hardware around. Sure it'd be different, but the benefits outweigh the costs. How many people are playing Mario Bros. on their classic Nintendo right now? Maybe its in the tens of thousands, and it's not earning Nintendo anything. That number could be in the tens of millions and introducing classic Nintendo franchises to a new generation who plays games on an iPhone, not on Nintendo hardware.

I really, really, realllllly, want Mario Kart for iPhone. Not a watered down version that follows the freemium and in-app purchase nightmare that games are now. Think Mario kart 64 on your phone, use the accelerometer for steering etc. Give it online multiplayer too. I'd pay good money for that honestly.

I don't think they will port mario for a while. They are most likely worried about it somehow cannibalizing their console sales.

Yeah! Instead of brand new games we just want to play games from 25 years ago!

Well about 95% of people on this thread alone actually want old Nintendo games, and disagree with you....... So maybe you're wrong... (Hint: You are!)

Exactly. Nintendo and @neoelectronaut are telling us exactly that ;)

How would releasing old games on an emulator cannibalise console sales?! There's a massive audience that don't have any intention of buying a lame Wii U, just to play old games on an emulator. IF anything, it would be recapturing an audience that left Nintendo when they brought out the Wii and Wii U.

There was an Emulator that came out the other year, snuck through the app store. Before it got pulled, it had a massive amount of downloads, the only complaints was that it got pulled, stopping others getting it...

Hilarious that Nintendo does nothing but rehash tired IPs every year and their first mobile release tries something new and everyone cries that it's not Mario.

I'm not saying it's not a good idea, however. If anything, this is the perfect time for yet another Pokemon or Mario game.

Not surprising in the least, considering Nintendo themselves blatantly told us there wouldn't be Mario-like games on mobile.

To everyone here complaining about this kind of game: Nintendo wants you to buy consoles.

You're not paying $2.99 for Super Mario Bros. because Nintendo has been selling it on the Wii, 3DS, and Wii U for $5.00 and they don't want to devalue their NES library. As for Contra and Castlevania, go complain to Konami. As for Double Dragon, go complain to whoever the hell owns the franchise these days.
