You can't even control his speed or move to your own rhythm and Nintendo are calling this SUPER? Super Mario? Really? Nintendo have lost all emphasis of what the term Super means these days.

/s
basically flappy bird for Mario. lol

People complain about a $10 game that they can play forever, while not batting an eye paying $6 for a cup of starbucks.
Having said that, considering people are jailbreaking their iOS device to pirate 99c games, I'm not surprised. Good thing Nintendo did this on iOS first, since iOS users are at least more likely to be willing to pay for something.

I know they've said otherwise, but making it an in app purchase instead of just a $10 game/app I bet is partially so families to have to pay for the game multiple times. Bit of a kick in the junk.

Yup. Easy way for them to build up some capital, lol.

Not for in app purchases according to Apple:

https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT203046

There are no in app purchases, it's an outright $9.99...you're just proving the point that this isn't a cash grab meant to abuse being locked into a specific device.

I'm kinda going to have to buy this just because Mario, and therein lies Nintendo's real strength; their beloved IP. This will be on the front of the app store and it will sell like hotcakes through the entire holiday season.

Yup, but I don't believe that in app purchases are shareable within a family account right?
They're not, but are we sure that this is going to be an IAP, or are they going to release a demo version of the game alongside it? I don't think I've seen anything that's said either way, but I'll keep looking.

It took too long to release it.

Marketing strategy to charge ten bucks for the die-hard fans. Then the price will fall.

Hope they make a lot of money so they decide to invest more on the iOS platform.

I really don't think it's a cash grab, I bet a lot of work went into the game and I'm happy to pay for it.

Yes, I've been using family sharing since it's been available.

It's been mentioned that the game is a free app, and then there's an in app purchase to unlock all the content. Not a big deal, just pointing it out. It's how Nintendo seems to be describing the purchase, unless there will be two versions available - free + iAP and paid up front?

downloaded from the App Store at no cost, and players can try elements of the game’s three modes for free. Once the game has been downloaded, a one-time payment of $9.99 (United States price) will grant unlimited access to each of the three modes in this release.

If Mario Run dispensed caffeine then I imagine people wouldn't complain about the $10.

I know it's Mario, but $ 9.00 ?????
Someone is gouging on the demand...

Reminds us of Post-Natural Disaster's water, food and supplies sales:
- A 12 oz. bottle of drinking Water for only $ 10.00 /each
- Gas at 200% regular price.
- Milk $ 20.00 / gallon

I got one Friday morning. I can't believe how much they are going for now lol

Edit figure I would take a pic for the post :)

Yeah, I just saw that press release, and it does sound like that's what they're describing. Still, maybe there will be two apps, and if not the game may be worth buying a couple of times. We'll have to see how it shakes out once it's released.

Maybe both could be an option? All I've seen so far is Nintendo's wording, which seems to mean a free app so you can get an idea of the gameplay and then the $10 purchase to unlock all levels/options. Which in reality that is the reason for in app purchases and isn't a bad thing.

Nintendo rarely drops the price of its games

They are selling for over 200 bucks on eBay! just crazy!
Sadly, once again, Nintendo is missing out on sales while these things are hot and everyone is talking about it. At least this pretty much guarantees we'll see a Super Nintendo Classic, which in hindsight is my favorite console from my childhood. I just hope it comes with a cord longer than 30" for crying out loud. If they need to save on cost, I'll gladly supply my own HDMI cable to get either wireless controllers or a longer cable.
