No 2018 iMac?!

I don’t agree I think that the pro market wants powerful computers not tablets and smartphones. I don’t think that exists a true pro tablet or pro iphone this is a joke!
In my opinion a good refresh should include 6 core imacs and 4 core mid-pro mac minis

A good refresh should include 8 core (at least as BTO option) iMacs with a redesign and SSD only configuration.

Interesting... They also put Mojave on the screen of the MacBook Air. The non retina screen used to have a different image than the retina ones and now they've been replaced with Mojave, what does it mean?!?😕

Maybe that indicates these are the first to be refreshed? I’m really interested to see how will this unfold. Specially the T2 related upgrade on the software and hardware level.

Apple probably knows that the only two (well 3 actually) new machines are in a bad shadow of the kernel panic and I would just think that they want to release these new machines up to Mac's full glory. That is my explanation for the wait.
However, Apple knows that except for these machines potential buyers might turn away and go Hackintosh route or make a complete switch because they can't wait for the release. That would explain why there is Mojave picture on the image of old hardware.
I think it is a signal that Apple is sending out and that means:
"Wait just a bit longer. We are having something in works for you. You just need to give us some more time, we wanna make it perfect this time. We'll bring you the Mac finally."

The above is my hope, my opinion, my wish and my dream. And that is why I am still waiting. I'm waiting for the Mac.

I lost my faith on the renew of the iMac for this year.

October’s not even halfway over yet. They’ve typically announced an Oct event one week before, so if they plan on an Oct 30 event, we wouldn’t even hear anything until the 23. They could even do first week of November, though that’s less likely.

Also, since we're all here I was just ****in around with what I think might be a neat redesign of the iMac. It's very uninspired and unclean but might be an interesting direction for the imac. main problem with it for me is how the rounded bezel interacts with the chin for a samsung galaxy-esque cutoff that looks strange

Why???

This is not a phone, it's a desktop computer. I'm all for thin bezels but round corners make absolutely no sense here. They'd have to redesign a few core functions of macOS and ask devs to make modifications to their apps. Windows would never be updated and would be crippled on such a device. All that for no advantage at all.

Yea, totally. I would love to see all Mac displays redesigned with rounded corners to make their product lineup completely uniform, as well as stand out from the competition. Just imagine looking at Macs next to every typical Windows PC in a Best Buy ad. People would know right away that they are looking at a Mac. Taking what they’ve learned with the brilliant XR LCD display and applying it to the rest of Apple’s Mac lineup will definitely give Apple another edge in design and distinction.

This is my interpretation of the "modular" Mac Mini Pro.
Basically, same housing size of the original mac mini, added TB3, new processors...
eGPU on top acts both as a mac mini cooler, eGPU and additional power source for the "Pro power mode" for when the benefit of additional cooling and eGPU is available.

You can go standalone Mac Mini and add the top case device later.

Ok youre being a bit glib here: I use the word need not with an exacting correct definition of the word but with a casual urgency that signifies how fundamental of a qualitative improvement 120hz would yield across their entire product lineup. To admit that 120hz might not be feasible just yet is not a damning admission of the concept itself, but more og an acknowledgement of the fact that I do not have the engineering acumen to state whether that is a realistic feature to wishlist on the 2018 imac

Should iMacs get updated to 9th Gen Core CPUs, this is a good thing - https://www.anandtech.com/show/1347...gb-of-ddr4-on-core-9th-gen-desktop-processors - no guarantees of actually being able to use those newer DIMMs, but still a positive development. The issue here is whether anyone can build 32GB SO-DIMMs given the relative size versus a standard DIMM. Of course the iMac might end up with standard size DIMMs as well, if the inside follows the iMac Pro thermal design. Looking forward to the next iMac.

EDIT: The article refers to 32GB SO-DIMM modules from Samsung for mobile workstations, so this is a very interesting development. This could lead to 64GB MacBook Pros in the next year or so, IF support is extended back to 8th Gen CPUs.

Dont be, i think this means, every mac now is delivered with Mojave preinstalled

What!?!

Before the iPhone was released everyone was clamoring for the iPod, phone and Palm be combined. Apple most definitely did Not invent that idea they just made it happen.

So here are my guesses as October is winding down. I did say guesses 😉

1. With the lack of rumours and or part leaks in 2018, it means Apple will more than likely retain the current form factor.

2. Should Apple pull a surprise bunny out of its hat and announce a redesigned iMac for its anniversary. I am calling a special November event for the iMac and Mac mini.

3. However my gut feeling is leaning on a silent refresh should Apple host a October event. With a redesigned iMac to be introduced alongside the Mac Pro and Mac Mini in 2019.

Either way I am not fussed given the rising cost of Apple gear, my late 2013 IMac is running even better now with Mojave. I can afford to wait out, rather than buy the same design again.
